Jets Expected To Sign Tyron Smith

The New York Jets are expected to sign former Dallas Cowboys All-Pro and Pro Bowl left tackle Tyron Smith, according to a source. Smith will become the team's new blind-side protector for quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who will be returning in 2024 after tearing his Achilles in Week 1 of last season. The Jets have made it a point to upgrade their offensive line this offseason so they can do a better job of keeping Rodgers upright in the pocket, adding left guard John Simpson, right tackle Morgan Moses, and now Smith. The 33-year-old Smith, the former ninth overall selection by the Cowboys in 2011 out of USC, is an eight-time Pro Bowler, although he hasn't played a full season since 2015. But when he's been healthy, Smith has proven to be one of the better left tackles in the league, so the signing is a big plus for Rodgers and the Jets offense.

Tyron Smith Unlikely To Return To Cowboys

Dallas Cowboys All-Pro and Pro Bowl left tackle Tyron Smith will be a free agent this year and is unlikely to return to the Cowboys, according to sources. The former ninth overall pick has been the team's starting left tackle since 2011, and he's expected to be highly coveted on the open market this offseason. The 33-year-old veteran has made the Pro Bowl eight times and has also been named a first-team All-Pro twice, but injuries have taken their toll on him in recent seasons. Smith played in 13 regular-season games in 2023 but hasn't played in more than that amount of games since 2015. It remains to be seen how Dallas plans to replace Smith at left tackle in 2024, but it will be something to watch for quarterback Dak Prescott's protection after his career year in 2023.

Tyron Smith Active For Week 9 Versus Eagles

Dallas Cowboys left tackle Tyron Smith (neck) is officially active for Week 9 versus the Philadelphia Eagles. He had been listed as questionable after practicing in a limited capacity on Friday. The presence of Smith is key for the Cowboys as they look to compete with the NFC East-leading Eagles, and it bodes well for the fantasy values of Jalen Hurts and D'Andre Swift.

Cowboys Rule Tyron Smith Out For Week 4

The Dallas Cowboys have ruled left tackle Tyron Smith (knee) out for the Week 4 game on Sunday against the New England Patriots. Smith didn't actually miss the Week 3 upset loss to the Arizona Cardinals, but he didn't play at all and stayed on the sidelines, so he'll effectively be missing his second straight contest. Not having the 32-year-old All-Pro left tackle on quarterback Dak Prescott's blind side isn't ideal against a pretty strong Patriots defense. Expect Chuma Edoga to make another start for the Cowboys this weekend. Smith has played 19 games since the start of 2020 and has missed 35 games, including this week. All-Pro right guard Zack Martin (ankle) and center Tyler Biadasz (hamstring) are questionable, but the team is optimistic they will be able to play.

Cowboys Working To Keep Tyron Smith

The Dallas Cowboys are working on a contract extension to bring eight-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle Tyron Smith back for a 13th season, which could include a restructured contract, according to sources. Smith is due $13.6 million in 2023 in the final year of his deal. Some have predicting the Cowboys to potentially move on from Smith this offseason after he played in just four games in 2023 due to an avulsion fracture in his left knee. The 32-year-old recently had a cleanup procedure and will be hoping to be ready for training camp this summer. The former ninth overall pick in 2011 has played in a combined 17 games the last three years and has become much harder to rely on for Dallas' O-line.

Cowboys Expect Tyron Smith To Be Back

Dallas Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones expects offensive tackle Tyron Smith to be back with the team in 2023. "The biggest takeaway from our meetings was you can't have enough of these guys," Jones said. The Cowboys have three starting-caliber options at offensive tackle between Tyron Smith, Tyler Smith and Terence Steele, which is why Tyron Smith has been a potential salary cap casualty this offseason. The 32-year-old missed the first 13 games of the 2022 season due to an avulsion fracture in his left knee, and he recently had surgery to fix a minor knee injury earlier this month. If Tyron Smith is going to remain in Dallas moving forward, he's going to have to restructure his contract.

Cowboys May Move On From Tyron Smith

Dallas Cowboys eight-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle Tyron Smith (knee) may have played his last snap with the team. If he does return, though, Smith could return to the left tackle spot and play Tyler Smith at left guard, which was the plan going into last season. However, Tyron Smith's inability to stay healthy has led to Tyler Smith showing he's the best long-term option for Dallas at left tackle. The 32-year-old Tyron Smith had surgery to address a minor knee injury this offseason, and he missed the team's first 13 games in 2022 due to an avulsion fracture in his left knee that he suffered in training camp. Cutting Tyron Smith would save around $10 million in salary cap space. He's played in just 17 games in the last three years for the Cowboys.

Tyron Smith To Suit Up In Week 15

The Dallas Cowboys have officially activated Tyron Smith (knee) from Injured Reserve, and the offensive tackle will carry no injury designation into Sunday's matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Smith suffered an avulsion fracture of his knee in August and will be making his 2022 season debut in Week 15. With Terence Steele (knee) set to miss the remainder of the year, Smith is actually expected to start at right tackle. Although this is not his usual position, the presence of the eight-time Pro Bowler should provide a nice boost for the Cowboys' offensive line.

Tyron Smith To Be Designated To Return From IR

The Dallas Cowboys will designate offensive tackle Tyron Smith (knee) to return from Injured Reserve on Wednesday, which will open up his 21-day practice window. Smith won't have any padded practices this week, but his return for the Dallas offense this year would be a big boost. The 31-year-old suffered an avulsion fracture in his left knee in August and will be making his season debut whenever he gets into a game. It's unlikely that the eight-time Pro Bowler will play in Week 14 against the Houston Texans, but he should return at the tail end of the season and could be an X-factor for Dallas' offensive line in the postseason.

Tyron Smith Still A Ways From A Possible Return

Dallas Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said that left tackle Tyron Smith (knee, hamstring) is around three to four weeks away from starting his 21-day window to practice with the team. However, Jones is also cautious that could change. The 31-year-old has been on Injured Reserve since Aug. 31 after having surgery on his left knee. If the Cowboys don't activate Smith within the 21-day window once he's designated to return, he'll have to remain on IR for the remainder of the 2022 season, which is a real possibility given his injury. If Smith actually does make a return this year, it might not be until/if the Cowboys make the playoffs.
