Anton Forsberg News
Ottawa Senators goaltender Anton Forsberg made the start in his home country and had a terrific performance as he stopped 24-of-25 shots on goal in Saturday's 2-1 shootout victory against the Wild in the 2023 NHL Global Series. The Swedish goaltender picked up his third win of the season and first since Oct. 18 against the Capitals, while the save total is a season-high and the lone goal against matches a season-best through six appearances. Additionally, Forsberg stopped a penalty shot and had an assist in the contest, while his season totals improve to a record of 3-3-0 to go along with a 3.21 goals against average and .860 save percentage. Forsberg will continue to operate as the backup goaltender of the Senators and he is not worth rostering in standard fantasy formats while starter Joonas Korpisalo is healthy.
Ottawa Senators goaltender Anton Forsberg (knees) is back healthy again and ready to go for the start of the season. The Swedish netminder was forced to end the 2023-23 campaign early after tearing the MCL in both of his knees in a game against Edmonton on Feb. 11. "I've been back to 100 percent for a long time," Forsberg told Ian Mendes of The Athletic. "I would have been back last year if we made the playoffs." Forsberg went 11-11-2 with the Senators last season before getting injured, registering a 3.26 goals-against average with a .902 save percentage and a couple of shutouts. He will share the crease with his good friend Joonas Korpisalo in 2023-24. "I think at the end of the day, it's going to come down to who is playing the best. And that's how it should be," Forsberg said of the competition between the two. "If (Korpisalo) plays better, he should play. If I play better, I should play. That's the way I look at it. This is a team game and the best players should be playing. And I'm looking forward to it."
Ottawa Senators goaltender Anton Forsberg (knee) has been ruled out indefinitely. He was diagnosed with an MCL tear in both of his knees Sunday after he was forced to leave Saturday's game against Edmonton on a stretcher. It's very unfortunate for the Swedish netminder who had been performing very well in recent weeks as the team's temporary starter. He entered Saturday's action with a three-game winning streak and has managed an 11-11-2 record overall for the season. With Cam Talbot (lower body( still some way off a return, the team is set to ride Mads Sogaard for the time being.
Ottawa Senators goaltender Anton Forsberg left Saturday's contest against Edmonton on a stretcher after hurting his right leg. He was involved in a collision in the third period when Senators defenseman Travis Hamonic pushed Oilers forward Zach Hyman into Forsberg. It was a bad ending to a rough outing, as Forsberg allowed six goals on 31 shots in a 6-3 loss. Mads Sogaard finished the game in his place and saved all three shots he faced. The Senators are already without their regular starter Cam Talbot (lower body), so the team could find itself in a very difficult situation if Forsberg is out for a longer stretch, which appears likely.
