Anton Forsberg Shuts Out Chicago

Ottawa Senators goaltender Anton Forsberg posted a shutout on Thursday versus Chicago, backstopping the team to a rare victory in the matchup. The Senators had lost 11 straight games to the Blackhawks since 2016 before finding a way to win on Thursday. Forsberg produced 19 saves, and Claude Giroux and Parker Kelly bagged a pair of quick goals at the start of the game. 2023-24 has been another tough campaign for Ottawa, but Forsberg has managed to put together a winning record, going 13-12-0 across 25 starts with two shutouts. However, he has allowed 3.27 goals with a .888 save percentage -- the league average marks stand at 2.91 and .904.

Anton Forsberg Set To Return Tuesday

Ottawa Senators goaltender Anton Forsberg (groin) will return to action Tuesday night versus the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Swede has been out since suffering a groin injury during a 5-3 loss to the Buffalo Sabres on Jan. 11. "He's ready to go. We could've pushed him back one more game, but we feel that he's ready to go tonight," Senators head coach Jacques Martin said. The 31-year-old scuffled to a 3.35 goals-against average and an .889 save percentage across 16 games prior to his injury, going just 7-8-0 in that time. The 31-year-old gets a nice matchup in his return to action, as the Blue Jackets are tied for 24th in offense with 2.90 goals per game on the season.

Anton Forsberg Placed On Long-Term Injured Reserve

Ottawa Senators goaltender Anton Forsberg (groin) has been placed on long-term Injured Reserve. The move came after Forsberg was injured in Thursday's game against Buffalo. He will now be forced to miss at least 10 games and 24 days. Forsberg has posted a 7-8-0 record this season, sharing the crease with Joonas Korpisalo. Mads Sogaard has been called up from the minors to fill the open spot in the lineup. He could see quite a bit of action, as Korpisalo has struggled massively all season, going 7-15-0 in 22 starts.

Anton Forsberg Guides Team To Global Series Victory

Ottawa Senators goaltender Anton Forsberg made the start in his home country and had a terrific performance as he stopped 24-of-25 shots on goal in Saturday's 2-1 shootout victory against the Wild in the 2023 NHL Global Series. The Swedish goaltender picked up his third win of the season and first since Oct. 18 against the Capitals, while the save total is a season-high and the lone goal against matches a season-best through six appearances. Additionally, Forsberg stopped a penalty shot and had an assist in the contest, while his season totals improve to a record of 3-3-0 to go along with a 3.21 goals against average and .860 save percentage. Forsberg will continue to operate as the backup goaltender of the Senators and he is not worth rostering in standard fantasy formats while starter Joonas Korpisalo is healthy.

Anton Forsberg Good To Go For The Start Of Season

Ottawa Senators goaltender Anton Forsberg (knees) is back healthy again and ready to go for the start of the season. The Swedish netminder was forced to end the 2023-23 campaign early after tearing the MCL in both of his knees in a game against Edmonton on Feb. 11. "I've been back to 100 percent for a long time," Forsberg told Ian Mendes of The Athletic. "I would have been back last year if we made the playoffs." Forsberg went 11-11-2 with the Senators last season before getting injured, registering a 3.26 goals-against average with a .902 save percentage and a couple of shutouts. He will share the crease with his good friend Joonas Korpisalo in 2023-24. "I think at the end of the day, it's going to come down to who is playing the best. And that's how it should be," Forsberg said of the competition between the two. "If (Korpisalo) plays better, he should play. If I play better, I should play. That's the way I look at it. This is a team game and the best players should be playing. And I'm looking forward to it."

Anton Forsberg Out Indefinitely

Ottawa Senators goaltender Anton Forsberg (knee) has been ruled out indefinitely. He was diagnosed with an MCL tear in both of his knees Sunday after he was forced to leave Saturday's game against Edmonton on a stretcher. It's very unfortunate for the Swedish netminder who had been performing very well in recent weeks as the team's temporary starter. He entered Saturday's action with a three-game winning streak and has managed an 11-11-2 record overall for the season. With Cam Talbot (lower body( still some way off a return, the team is set to ride Mads Sogaard for the time being.

Anton Forsberg Stretchered Off Saturday

Ottawa Senators goaltender Anton Forsberg left Saturday's contest against Edmonton on a stretcher after hurting his right leg. He was involved in a collision in the third period when Senators defenseman Travis Hamonic pushed Oilers forward Zach Hyman into Forsberg. It was a bad ending to a rough outing, as Forsberg allowed six goals on 31 shots in a 6-3 loss. Mads Sogaard finished the game in his place and saved all three shots he faced. The Senators are already without their regular starter Cam Talbot (lower body), so the team could find itself in a very difficult situation if Forsberg is out for a longer stretch, which appears likely.

Anton Forsberg Tries To Beat Montreal Again

Ottawa Senators goaltender Anton Forsberg will make a third consecutive start on Tuesday against Montreal, hoping to make it back-to-back wins against the Canadiens after shutting them out in a 5-0 victory on Saturday. Forsberg has also beaten Toronto 6-2 since becoming the team's de facto starter following Cam Talbot's (lower body) injury. The recent wins have helped Forsberg to improve his record for the year to 10-10-2. He had his second shutout of the season on Saturday and owns a 3.09 goals-against average with a .906 save percentage. Montreal has shown some fight lately, but the team's attack has very little quality left due to injuries and Forsberg is nicely placed to record his second three-game winning streak of the season.

Anton Forsberg Shuts The Door On Montreal

Ottawa Senators goaltender Anton Forsberg bagged his second shutout of the season Saturday against Montreal, producing 28 saves in a 5-0 win. Claude Giroux powered the offense with two goals and one assist. It was Forsberg's second consecutive start following Cam Talbot's (lower body) injury. He has performed well in the contests, allowing only two goals on 61 shots, and should get at least one more chance to shine, with Talbot having been ruled out through the All-Star break. There's a rematch scheduled with the Canadiens on Tuesday. Forsberg, who has registered a 3.09 goals-against average for the season with a .906 save percentage, will take a 10-10-2 record into the contest.

Anton Forsberg In Goal Saturday Against Montreal

Ottawa Senators goaltender Anton Forsberg had a strong showing on Friday, leading his team to a 6-2 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs. The 30-year-old netminder made 31 saves on 33 shots. He's starting Saturday due to Cam Talbot being out. Talbot left Thursday's contest against the Islanders due to a lower-body injury. Forsberg will face the Canadiens, who are coming off a 4-3 overtime loss against Detroit on Thursday. The backup netminder has yet to play against Montreal this season, but he is 3-2-0 in his last five outings.

Anton Forsberg Beats Columbus With A Shutout

Ottawa Senators goaltender Anton Forsberg grabbed his first shutout of the season when the team beat Columbus 4-0 on Tuesday. The Blue Jackets had a good start with nine attempts on the net, but they faded with time and Ottawa pulled off the victory thanks to a three-goal second period. It's Forsberg's second career shutout and first since December 2021. The Swedish netminder has produced back-to-back strong starts to improve his record to 7-8-2. Fantasy managers haven't gotten a lot of wins out of him, but Forsberg has been in good form with a .914 save percentage. His goals-against average stands at 2.91.

Anton Forsberg Takes On Buffalo Sunday

Ottawa Senators goaltender Anton Forsberg will start between the pipes on Sunday against Buffalo. He is getting his first action since Dec. 18 when Forsberg suffered a 4-2 defeat against Minnesota. The Swedish netminder started the campaign as Ottawa's No. 1, but he has been playing second fiddle ever since Cam Talbot was able to make his season debut after recovering from a rib injury. Talbot had a 7-3-1 hot streak in December, so it's been very hard for Forsberg to force himself into D.J. Smith's plans. However, he has gotten the nod for the first game of 2023 and can leave a big impression with a good performance against the league's best offense. Forsberg has already beaten Buffalo once this season, going 5-8-2 overall with a 3.23 goals-against average and a .906 save percentage.

Anton Forsberg Shuts The Door On Sabres

Ottawa Senators goalie Anton Forsberg was on his game Wednesday, stopping 29 of 30 shots en route to a 4-1 victory over the Buffalo Sabres. After a breakout 2021-22 campaign, Forsberg has had a mostly forgettable start to this season. However, he looked brilliant tonight, giving up only a powerplay goal in the second period. If he can return to form, he should challenge Cam Talbot for starts. After tonight, Forsberg sits at a .904 SV% and 3.35 GAA on the season while going 4-6-1 over 11 games started. The Senators face the New Jersey Devils on Saturday, but it isn't clear who will get the start.

Anton Forsberg Has 53 Saves In A Losing Effort

Ottawa Senators goaltender Anton Forsberg faced a huge barrage of shots in Saturday's matchup against Florida and managed to produce a .930 save percentage despite giving up four goals in a 5-3 loss. He turned aside 53 of 57 shots, tying the franchise record for most saves produced by a goalie in a regular-season game. Forsberg has seen a three-game winning streak end with back-to-back defeats, but he should be very happy with his own contribution in the games, having stopped 89 of 96 shots. The Swedish netminder is off to a strong start to the campaign, but he will soon face serious competition, as Talbot (ribs) was a full participant in Friday's practice and it looks like his return is just around the corner.

Anton Forsberg Considered Day-To-Day

Ottawa Senators goaltender Anton Forsberg (undisclosed) is considered day-to-day after he missed Monday's 4-2 win over Dallas. His injury allowed Magnus Hellberg to make league history as he became the first goalie in the NHL to register his first three career wins with three different teams. Luckily for the Senators and fantasy managers alike, Forsberg isn't seriously hurt and is expected to start Thursday against Minnesota. The 29-year-old has heated up nicely with a three-game winning streak. He is carrying a 3-2-0 record for the season and has registered a 2.82 goals-against average with a .904 save percentage.

Anton Forsberg Stays Hot In Loss To Panthers

Anton Forsberg turned away 46 of 49 shots against the Florida Panthers last night. He continues to prove himself as a goalie who plays well under pressure. The 4-3 shootout loss marks the fifth consecutive game where he posted a save percentage of .917 or better. Forsberg has been the Ottawa Senators' best goalie this year and has the stats to show for it. In 34 games, he has a winning record of 15-13-3 and a 2.72 GAA to go with a .919 save percentage. He is currently tied for 11th in the NHL in save percentage and is a good fantasy option for the later part of the season.

Anton Forsberg Likely To Stay With Senators

Ottawa Senators goaltender Anton Forsberg will likely remain with the team past the trade deadline, according to general manager Pierre Dorion. Forsberg, who can become an unrestricted free agent after the season, has enjoyed career-best numbers during the 2021-22 season. Forsberg has started a team-high 28 games, while his 13 wins are the most on the team to go along with a 2.70 goals against average and .921 save percentage. The 29-year-old has seen a recent spike in rostered percentage, by 17 percent across Yahoo leagues, and fantasy managers in need of a goaltending option can add the Senators starter for Saturday's matchup against the Blackhawks.

Anton Forsberg Makes 24th Start Of The Season

Ottawa Senators goaltender Anton Forsberg will make his 24th start of the season on Sunday against Vegas. He'll look to produce his third consecutive outing with 40-plus saves. The Swedish netminder pushed away 45 shots in his last start against Florida but still had to take a 3-0 loss. Forsberg's record for the season stands at 11-9-2, and he boasts a 2.80 goals-against average with a .918 save percentage and one shutout. The Golden Knights are the clear favorites for the contest, but they have been off form lately and Forsberg should have a decent shot at victory if Ottawa's offense doesn't go missing again.

Anton Forsberg Set For A Fourth Consecutive Start

Ottawa Senators goaltender Anton Forsberg will continue to hold down the fort on Saturday against Philadelphia, recording his fourth straight start. The Swedish netminder suffered a loss to Tampa in his last outing, but he's been in fine form this month and had won all five starts prior to Thursday's defeat. Forsberg has taken his record to 6-5-0, and he owns a 3.09 goals-against average with a .909 save percentage and one shutout. The Senators have lost five of the last seven head-to-head meetings against Philadelphia, but they have gained some momentum lately and should be ready for a proper battle.

Anton Forsberg Leads Ottawa To A Rare Win Thursday

Ottawa Senators goalie Anton Forsberg made 47 saves on 49 shots to defeat Carolina in a much-needed 3-2 win Thursday. Forsberg has struggled somewhat for Ottawa, compiling a 2-4-0 record, a 3.98 goals-against-average, and a .900 save percentage. Before collecting the W Thursday, Forsberg had lost five contests in a row. However, the Swedish netminder should be between the pipes regularly with the demotion to the AHL of former Pittsburgh Penguins back stopper Matt Murray.
