Brenden Dillon Unavailable Tuesday

New Jersey Devils defenseman Brenden Dillon (lower body) has been ruled out for Tuesday's Game 5 against the Carolina Hurricanes. New Jersey has lost several blue-liners to injury during the series, and Dillon continues to deal with a lower-body ailment. The absence of Dillon, Luke Hughes (upper body), and Johnathan Kovacevic (undisclosed) has given rookie Simon Nemec a role in the team, while Dougie Hamilton, Brett Pesce, and Brian Dumoulin are logging big minutes. All three players have averaged at least 24 minutes of ice time during the postseason, with Dumoulin leading the team with 27:22 of ice time per game.

Brenden Dillon Out On Sunday

New Jersey Devils defenseman Brenden Dillon (lower body) is not ready to return to the lineup for Game 4 against the Carolina Hurricanes on Sunday. He will miss a third consecutive contest after suffering a lower-body injury in the series opener. Dillon's absence has given Simon Nemec a chance to play in back-to-back games. Following a largely anonymous effort from him in Game 2, Nemec made headlines with the winning goal in Friday's 3-2 double-overtime victory. He found the back of the net with his fifth shot on goal and logged two blocks and one hit in 22:39 of ice time.

Brenden Dillon Won't Play In Game 2

New Jersey Devils defenseman Brenden Dillon (lower body) has been ruled out for Game 2 against the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday. The veteran blue-liner exited Sunday's Game 1 with a lower-body injury, logging only 8:53 of action. With Luke Hughes (upper body) also unavailable for Tuesday, the Devils are forced into two chances in defense. Simon Nemec and Dennis Cholowski will be inserted into the lineup for the first postseason action of their careers. The two will form the third defensive pairing, while Dougie Hamilton will move up in the lineup to fill in for Hughes on the first pairing.

Brenden Dillon Makes Early Exit Sunday

New Jersey Devils defenseman Brenden Dillon (undisclosed) made an early exit in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes. The 34-year-old logged only 8:53 of action, finishing with four hits. Devils head coach Sheldon Keefe told reporters postgame that Dillon was "eager to get back out there" but was held back by team doctors. This suggests that he may have avoided serious injury and could be an option for Tuesday's Game 2 in the series. New Jersey's blue line was also dealt a blow by Luke Hughes' injury, but he returned to finish the contest. If Dillon can't play on Tuesday, the Devils might use rookie Seamus Casey as his replacement in the lineup, while Dennis Cholowski and Simon Nemec are also options.

Brenden Dillon Suffers Hand Injury After Final Whistle

Winnipeg Jets defenseman Brenden Dillon (hand) suffered an injury after the final whistle in Game 3 of their first-round series against the Colorado Avalanche on Friday. The two teams got into a massive scrum after the Avs beat the Jets 6-2 to go up 2-1 in the series, and Dillon appeared to cut his hand badly during the fracas. Head coach Rick Bowness didn't have an update on the veteran defender after the game, but if he unable to go in Game 4 it would not be a surprise.

Brenden Dillon Returns To Jets Lineup Sunday

Winnipeg Jets defenseman Brenden Dillon (illness) will re-enter the lineup for Sunday's matchup against Buffalo. The hard-hitting blue-liner couldn't play on Saturday due to an illness, but he has now recovered well enough to get back to work. Dillon leads Winnipeg with 166 hits in 55 appearances. Fantasy managers have also gotten a bit of offense out of him, as Dillon has scored a career-high seven goals while dishing out nine assists. Logan Stanley played in Dillon's place on Saturday and will likely come out of the lineup versus the Sabres.

Brenden Dillon To Save Player Safety Meeting For Tuesday Hit

Winnipeg Jets defenseman Brenden Dillon will have a hearing for a high hit on Pittsburgh's Noel Acciari in Wednesday's 3-0 loss to the Penguins. Dillon stepped up and made contact with Acciari's head at 4:15 of the second period and was assigned a five-minute major and a game misconduct. Acciari left the game and did not return. Known for his rugged, physical style of play, Dillon has recorded six goals and 15 points in 48 games but also has 116 hits, 66 blocks, and 75 penalty minutes on his ledger in 18:18 of average ice time per game. His six goals already tie a career-high set in the 2013-14 season with the Dallas Stars while his career-high of 23 points came just last season.

Brenden Dillon Considered A Game-Time Decision Sunday

Winnipeg Jets defenseman Brenden Dillon (undisclosed) is considered a game-time decision for Sunday's matchup versus Nashville. The 33-year-old has yet to miss a game in 2023-24, but he didn't participate in the morning skate, which has left a question mark hanging over him ahead of Sunday's game. Dillon mostly brings the muscle to the Winnipeg blue line, but he's also upped his game offensively this season, scoring four goals and handing out three assists in 19 appearances. The veteran is also leading the Jets with 52 hits. Logan Stanley is expected to replace Dillon if he can't go on Sunday.

Brenden Dillon Traded To Winnipeg For Two Future Draft Picks

The Winnipeg Jets acquired veteran defenseman Brenden Dillon from the Washington Capitals on Tuesday. Washington receives second-round picks in 2022 and 2023. Dillon only laced up his skates in DC for 66 regular season games in two years with the team. However, he did have a strong season in 2021, recording two goals and 17 assists in 56 contests. He is more of a stay-at-home defenseman, logging an average of almost 19:00 minutes of total ice time per game, and he carried an impressive plus-15 rating last year. Being more of a defensive specialist, Dillon will most likely not be a hot commodity come fantasy draft time, but he could certainly help Winnipeg's blue line next season.
