He exited the game with an upper-body injury after taking a hard hit from Mammoth forward Brandon Tanev. Mateychuk is having a strong sophomore campaign, recording 21 points (eight goals, 13 assists), 52 shots, and 63 blocks in 44 appearances. He has been Zach Werenski's partner on the first defensive pairing. If Mateychuk has to miss time, Columbus will bring Jake Christiansen back into the lineup.

While he has been nearly a point-per-game player in the AHL, Mateychuk has yet to find his offensive game in the big league. The 20-year-old has notched one goal and two assists in his first 12 NHL games. However, he has been averaging almost two blocks per game.
