Devon Toews On Track To Return On Tuesday

Colorado Avalanche defenseman Devon Toews (lower body) has been activated from Injured Reserve ahead of Tuesday's matchup against Seattle. This strongly indicates that Toews is ready to return from a four-game absence. Before sustaining a lower-body injury, Toews had one assist in two games with three shots and three blocks. He should rejoin his regular running mate, Cale Makar, on the first defensive pairing on Tuesday. Makar has been red-hot to start the year, and Toews has extra fantasy value as his partner. Calvin de Haan and John Ludvig are in danger of being scratched to make room for Toews.

Devon Toews Lands On Injured Reserve

Colorado Avalanche defenseman Devon Toews (lower body) was placed on Injured Reserve on Sunday. He's set to miss a fourth consecutive game because of a lower-body injury. Oliver Kylington and Samuel Girard have seen action on the first defensive pairing in Toews' absence. Kylington produced a pair of scoreless efforts with a minus-two rating in the role before being scratched for Friday's 4-3 overtime victory against Anaheim. John Ludvig was back in the lineup on Friday and might maintain his spot after Colorado secured its first win of the season.

Devon Toews Out Versus Boston

Colorado Avalanche defenseman Devon Toews (lower body) will sit out a second consecutive game on Wednesday versus Boston. He was a late scratch on Monday against the Islanders with a lower-body injury and still needs some time to recover. Oliver Kylington made his season debut on Monday on the first defensive pairing, while Sam Malinski replaced Toews on the second power-play unit. The two are set to benefit from Toews' absence again on Wednesday, although the Avalanche defense has massively struggled so far, and the woes could easily continue against a top-class team like Boston.

Devon Toews Out From Avalanche Lineup With An Illness

Colorado Avalanche defenseman Devon Toews was unable to play in Monday's Game 4 against Dallas due to an illness. He was a late scratch for the contest. Toews has been a key cog in Colorado's success, and the defense clearly struggled without him as the Stars coasted to a 5-1 victory. Through eight appearances this postseason, Toews boasts six points (one goal, five assists) with 13 hits and eight blocks. He's been eating up nearly 24 minutes a night as one of the Avalanche's top rearguards. Sean Walker took Toews' spot on the first defensive pairing on Monday. He had a rough night, going minus-two in 19:28 of action with two blocks and three hits.

Devon Toews Inks Seven-Year Extension With Avalanche

Colorado Avalanche defenseman Devon Toews has committed himself to the team for seven more years, signing a $50.75 million extension. The new contract kicks in next season and ties him with the franchise until the 2031 offseason. Toews, whose cap hit will rise from $4.1 million to $7.25 million with the new deal, has just started his fourth campaign in Denver. He has registered 139 points (29 goals, 110 assists) in 200 games with the team, along with 444 shots on goal, 312 blocks, 191 hits, and a fantastic plus-122 rating. Toews has formed an excellent, mutually beneficial partnership with Cale Makar, and it's now set to continue for the foreseeable future.

Cale Makar Hopes Avalanche Get New Deal Done With Devon Toews

Colorado Avalanche defenseman Cale Makar hopes the team can sign his running mate Devon Toews to a new deal. Toews enters a contract year in 2023-24. "I feel like he's one of the best defensemen in the League," Makar recently told NHL.com. "I don't know if he's underrated anymore. I have no doubt they'll get something done. You want something that works for both sides and he's a guy that definitely deserves it." Makar and Toews have both benefited from their partnership since the latter arrived in town in 2020. Makar has taken most of the limelight, winning the Norris Trophy and Conn Smythe Trophy in 2022, but Toews has also had a very productive spell in Denver. The 29-year has tallied 138 points (29 goals, 109 assists) in 199 regular-season games for the Avalanche with 310 blocks and a superb plus-120 rating.

Devon Toews Completes Avalanche Comeback In Game 2

Colorado Avalanche defenseman Devon Toews played a key role in Thursday's 3-2 comeback victory against Seattle. He helped to set up Valeri Nichushkin for a game-tying goal and netted the game-winner himself with seven minutes left to play in regulation. Artturi Lehkonen also had a goal and assist in the contest as the Avalanche saved themselves from a 2-0 series deficit. Toews, who contributed five goals and 10 assists in 20 games during Colorado's Cup run a year ago, came up big for the team Thursday and had no trouble adjusting to a new partner after he was paired up with Samuel Girard, while Cale Makar skated with Bowen Byram. All four players ended up with at least one point in the contest, so the shake-up worked out great for the Avalanche.

Devon Toews Hands Out Three Assists Against Anaheim

Colorado Avalanche defenseman Devon Toews collected a hat trick of assists in Sunday's comeback win against Anaheim. The defending champions found themselves 4-2 down in the third period but pulled out a 5-4 overtime victory, with Toews producing two power-play helpers during the comeback. He also had one even-strength assist in the game. The 29-year-old has had a few great games on the bounce, logging eight points in the past six games. The Avalanche blue line is currently missing Cale Makar (lower body), Josh Manson (lower body) and Bowen Byram (illness), meaning Toews is getting a lot of usage. He's on the first power-play unit and logged a season-high 30:12 of ice time Sunday.

Devon Toews Returns To Action

Colorado Avalanche defenseman Devon Toews (undisclosed) will return to the lineup Tuesday against the Rangers. The Avalanche have been forced to play two games without the tireless blue-liner after Toews was injured last Wednesday against Winnipeg. He will head back on the first defensive pairing to play with Cale Makar. Toews has produced three assists in four games this season and boasts 12 blocks for the campaign. He plays heavy minutes on a nightly basis and helps the team in all situations.

Devon Toews Out Friday

Colorado Avalanche defenseman Devon Toews (undisclosed) will miss Friday's matchup against Seattle. He was hurt in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to Winnipeg and hasn't been able to practice since then. Toews eats up huge minutes on the Avalanche blue line and he's had a nice start to the campaign with three points in four outings. Bowen Byram will replace him on the first defensive pairing Friday, looking to add to two points. The 21-year-old gets a great opportunity to show what he's capable of, as Byram links up with the super talented Cale Makar. Toews isn't expected to miss a lot of time, but it sounds like it's likely that he also won't play Saturday against Vegas.

Devon Toews Rejoins Avalanche Lineup

Colorado Avalanche defenseman Devon Toews (undisclosed) will be back from a four-game absence Tuesday against St. Louis. The team went on to lose all four games without Toews on the ice, so they will no doubt be very glad to have him back. The 28-year-old blue-liner has had a massive year with 57 points and a plus-52 rating across 64 appearances. He boasted just 77 points in total for his career before 2021-22, which shows you exactly how well Toews has done. The former Islander has provided a nice chunk of defensive stats as well by registering 50 hits and 82 blocks.

Devon Toews Set To Miss Some Time

Colorado Avalanche defenseman Devon Toews looks set to miss some time as he is dealing with "some nagging things", according to head coach Jared Bednar. The 28-year-old has had a huge year with 57 points and a plus-52 rating in 64 games. Toews has averaged over 25 minutes per game for the season, so there will be a huge gap to fill if he indeed sits out some action. His absence should lift Bowen Byram into a bigger role. Colorado has a four-game week coming up, starting with Monday's matchup against the Capitals.

Devon Toews Delivers Three Assists Versus Pittsburgh

Colorado Avalanche defenseman Devon Toews had three assists as the team clinched a playoff spot with a 6-4 victory over the Penguins Tuesday night. J.T. Compher, Josh Manson and Artturi Lehkonen benefited from Toews' creativity. The 28-year-old now boasts 40 assists in total for the season and has 53 points in 59 games. It's been a very strong year for Toews and it could be a 60-point campaign in the end if he can keep up his current scoring pace. Amazingly, Toews' plus/minus rating (plus-48) is also on track to get close to 60 by the end of the regular season. Calgary's Johnny Gaudreau is currently the only player in the league with a better rating (plus-50).

Devon Toews Notches Three Points Versus Islanders

Colorado Avalanche defenseman Devon Toews showed the New York Islanders what they have given up by getting three points against them in Tuesday's 5-3 victory. The 28-year-old rearguard, who was traded by the Islanders for a couple of draft picks in 2020, factored in all of Colorado's first three goals, scoring his 10th goal of the season and handing out two assists. Sitting on 42 points through 43 appearances, Toews is just short of averaging a point per game, and he's carrying a spectacular plus-45 rating for the season, which is the best in the league. His work in 2021-22 also includes 102 shots, 37 hits and 55 blocks.

Devon Toews Extends Point Streak With Three Assists

Colorado Avalanche defenseman Devon Toews picked up three assists on Friday, helping the team beat Detroit 7-3. The 27-year-old has started bagging points like there's no tomorrow, putting together a five-game point streak with 10 points in total. He's now on 20 points for the year in just 15 games with 33 shots, 14 hits, 15 blocks and a fantastic plus-19 rating. Toews has formed a deadly duo with Cale Makar, who upped his points tally to 25 on Friday, and most of the teams can't keep them quiet.

Devon Toews Expected To Play Against Vegas

Colorado Avalanche defenseman Devon Toews is expected to be in the lineup Sunday versus the Vegas Golden Knights. Toews hasn't played in a game since the 28th of January due to a foot injury. He has three goals and two assists through eight Colorado contests. He should be paired with rookie Bowan Byram on the team's first defenseman pairing. Toews being back in the lineup should be a big boost for Colorado, with the team having so many players out due to injuries and COVID-19 protocol.

Devon Toews Not Available On Saturday

Colorado Avalanche defenseman Devon Toews (foot) did not travel with the team ahead of Saturday's game against the Minnesota Wild. Toews stayed in Denver to undergo some medical evaluations. It is not clear how long the 26-year-old will be out for after taking a shot off of his foot on Thursday. They will know more about his status in the coming days, but for now, expect to see a lot more of star rookie Bowen Byram on the Avalanche blueline.
