Mike Reilly News
Boston Bruins defenseman Mike Reilly will enter the lineup on Friday against Carolina, replacing Hampus Lindholm (upper body) on the top defensive pairing. This will be his first playoff appearance of the year after he was scratched for the first two games of the series. Reilly featured 70 times during the regular season and managed four goals and 17 points. The 28-year-old is fairly talented offensively and could make a big impact in Game 3 if he gets enough minutes.
Mike Reilly rebuffed the allure of unrestricted free agency and signed a three-year contract extension with the Boston Bruins. The 28-year-old defenseman's contract will have a $3 million AAV. After a strong three-year collegiate career at the University of Minnesota, Reilly played parts of three seasons with the Minnesota Wild before moving on to the Montreal Canadiens and Ottawa Senators. He was traded to Boston late in the 2020-21 season and recorded eight assists with a 7 +/- in 15 games. Reilly added another four assists in 11 playoff games. He's never been a huge asset on the offensive side but he could have more fantasy value moving forward with a stronger team around him. He'll enter the 2021-22 fantasy season with some late-round intrigue in deep leagues.
Boston Bruins defenseman Mike Reilly won't feature on Monday against New Jersey due to maintenance. Head coach Bruce Cassidy has said that the 27-year-old will be back in the lineup in Tuesday's rematch with the Devils. The Bruins also hope to get Brandon Carlo back on Tuesday. Jakub Zboril will take over from Reilly on Monday. The 24-year-old sits on eight assists through 40 games. Reilly, who joined from Ottawa on April 11, has been a nice addition to the Bruins squad, picking up six points in his first 11 games for the team. He has notched 25 points in 51 games for the whole year. Bizarrely, Reilly has yet to score a goal in 2020-21 despite firing off 92 shots.
Ottawa Senators defenseman Mike Reilly tallied an assist in Thursday's 4-1 loss to Montreal, reaching 15 points for the year. Most of them (8) have come since the start of last month, so the 27-year-old is quietly having a good offensive spurt. He has notched all of his points via assists and combined with Josh Norris to set up Connor Brown for a power-play goal on Thursday. Reilly lacks value in season-long fantasy formats, but he should currently be considered a cheap under-the-radar DFS pick. He'll be back in action in a rematch against the Canadiens on Saturday.
