Dmitry Orlov Nets Two Goals Against Capitals

Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Dmitry Orlov took care of two goals in Sunday's 4-2 win over Washington. Entering Sunday, Orlov boasted only one goal for the season, but he put in a big performance against his former team. The Russian rearguard started the scoring with 14 minutes played in the opening frame and registered the eventual game-winning goal 5:26 into the second. Orlov is typically good for some defensive stats as well, but he didn't have any on Sunday across 20:18 of action. He appears to be more focused on his work on the offensive end lately, having collected four of his six points in the past four games. With 10 games played, Orlov has recorded three goals, three assists, 18 shots, five blocks, and 16 hits.

Dmitry Orlov Collects Four Points In Big Win

Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Dmitry Orlov tied a career-high with four points in Sunday's 7-2 win over Ottawa. He recorded two goals and two assists, starting the work with the first tally of the game. Orlov added a power-play assist to his tally early in the second period and then wrapped up the second four-point effort of his career with a goal and an assist in the third. The Russian rearguard definitely isn't known for his consistency on the attacking end, but he's made strides offensively lately to put together a three-game point streak. Orlov has collected six points during the streak, matching the output of his previous 37 appearances. The former Capital sits on 24 points (five goals, 19 assists) for the season and has recorded 106 shots and 102 hits across 68 games.

Dmitry Orlov, Charlie McAvoy Won't Play Sunday

Boston Bruins defensemen Dmitry Orlov (back) and Charlie McAvoy (undisclosed) won't play Sunday against the Flyers. Hampus Lindholm and Brandon Carlo will form the first defensive pairing in the game, with Matt Grzelcyk and Connor Carrick part of the second pairing. Both players are likely just getting rested, with the playoffs scheduled to start on April 17 and the Bruins having already secured home-ice advantage for the postseason. McAvoy also already had an injury scare earlier in the week, so there's no need to risk players' health in a meaningless game. Forwards Patrice Bergeron, David Krejci and Taylor Hall are also out Sunday.

Dmitry Orlov Totals Three Points Once Again

Boston Bruins defenseman Dmitry Orlov recorded his second consecutive three point game in Thursday's 7-1 victory against the Sabres. The 31-year-old scored a power play goal in the second period to open the scoring for the Bruins, followed by a pair of assists on goals scored by forwards Jakub Lauko and Patrice Bergeron. Orlov has benefited greatly from the trade to the league-leading Bruins, with totals of three goals and eight points through four games with his new club. The veteran defenseman should be added across all formats if he is still available as a result of the three consecutive multi-point games.

Dmitry Orlov Moves To Boston

The Washington Capitals traded Dmitry Orlov to the Boston Bruins on Thursday, along with forward Garnet Hathaway. In return, Washington received Craig Smith, a 2023 first-round pick, a 2024 third-round pick and a 2025 second-round pick. The deal also involved the Minnesota Wild, who will retain 50 percent of Orlov's salary for a 2023 fifth-round pick. This is quite a statement from the Bruins, but Orlov's move to Boston will hurt his fantasy value, as he will play a lesser role after averaging a career-high 22:43 of ice time this season In Washington. He has recorded 19 points in 48 games for the year with 77 shots, 88 hits and 62 blocks. Garnet Hathaway, who is eighth in the league with 198 hits, will beef up the Bruins' fourth line.

Dmitry Orlov Returns With Two Assists

Washington Capitals defenseman Dmitry Orlov was finally able to continue his season on Sunday, returning from a 16-game absence with two assists in a 5-2 win over Winnipeg. The Russian blue-liner hadn't played since Nov. 5 due to a lower-body injury. He logged 21:29 of ice time in his comeback game and picked up the helpers on Washington's final two goals, which were scored by Lars Eller and Alex Ovechkin. Orlov had three shots of his own in the contest and registered two blocks and one hit while finishing with an even rating. The 31-year-old now sits on seven points for the season, which have all come via assists. In 14 games played, Orlov has also tallied 29 shots, 31 hits and 18 blocks with a plus-three rating.

Dmitry Orlov Nearing Return

Washington Capitals defenseman Dmitry Orlov (lower body) came through another practice session on Sunday and could be back in the lineup when the team hits the ice next time against Philadelphia Wednesday night. He has been forced to watch seven games from the sidelines. The team has lost five of the games Orlov has missed, giving up four-plus goals six times, so head coach Peter Laviolette should be desperate to get him back out there. Orlov has collected five assists in 13 games this season with 26 shots, 30 hits and 16 blocks.

John Carlson, Dmitry Orlov Remain Sidelined Wednesday

Washington Capitals defensemen John Carlson (lower body) and Dmitry Orlov (lower body) will remain out of the lineup Wednesday versus Pittsburgh despite being present at the morning skate. Carlson has sat out five games, while Orlov missed Monday's 5-4 win over Edmonton. Erik Gustafsson had a three-point performance against the Oilers and will continue to benefit from the injuries, while the blue line is getting a new addition Wednesday in Alexander Alexeyev (shoulder), who has been activated from Injured Reserve. The 22-year-old managed 19 points in 68 AHL games last season but didn't produce any offense in his lone game at the NHL level. He will be on the bottom pairing and likely won't be able to make a significant impact.

Dmitry Orlov Misses Sunday's Practice

Washington Capitals defenseman Dmitry Orlov (lower body) didn't skate in Sunday's practice after getting hurt Saturday night versus Arizona. He was able to play for only a little over seven minutes against the Coyotes. The Capitals have already been without John Carlson (lower body) for a few games, and the personnel at the back could now look very interesting on Monday against Edmonton if Orlov is also unable to play. Nick Jensen ate up the most minutes Saturday with Orlov missing, and he could now be considered the de facto Capitals No. 1 defenseman if the team's two best blue-liners aren't healthy enough to be in the lineup.

Dmitry Orlov On Track To Return Saturday

Washington Capitals defenseman Dmitry Orlov (lower body) appears ready to return to the lineup Saturday against Montreal. He's been out for a couple of games with a lower-body ailment but put some work in at Friday's practice and also skated Saturday morning. The 30-year-old blue-liner has gone for 30 points, 112 shots, 117 hits and 85 blocks across 68 appearances this season with a plus-21 rating. He's set to rejoin Nick Jensen on the second defensive pairing and should feature in all situations.

Dmitry Orlov Handed Two Game Suspension

Washington Capitals defenseman Dmitry Orlov has been suspended for two games for kneeing Winnipeg Jets forward Nikolaj Ehlers in Tuesday's game, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced on Wednesday. Orlov will miss the Capitals' upcoming games against the Bruins and Senators later this week, while the 30-year-old will be eligible to return from the suspension to begin next week with Monday's matchup against the Golden Knights. Orlov has been a productive defenseman across standard fantasy formats with five goals and 14 assists for a total of 19 points, along with a plus-17 rating through 38 games played.

Dmitry Orlov Bags Two More Points Tuesday Night

Washington Capitals defenseman Dmitry Orlov continued his hot scoring stretch with two assists in Tuesday's 5-4 loss to Florida. The Russian blue-liner now has 14 points for the season and half of them have come across the last five games. Orlov has been incredibly hot, but he remains available in a large chunk of fantasy leagues. He can contribute in two more games this week, so fantasy managers really should give him a look. Orlov is always good for defensive stats, and he's among the league leaders with a plus-19 rating.

Dmitry Orlov Scores A Goal In Road Win For Washington

Washington Capitals defenseman Dmitry Orlov scored the game-winning goal late in the first period as Washington won in Detroit. Orlov had two shots on goal with a couple of scoring chances, and five blocked shots. The defender played just over 20 minutes on the night as that included a little bit of power-play and penalty kill time (about two minutes total). Orlov is now up to six points on the season in 12 games played and has two goals with two game-winning tallies.
