Evan Bouchard Inks $42 Million Contract with Oilers

Edmonton Oilers defenseman Evan Bouchard has landed a four-year, $42 million contract extension. With a cap hit of $10.5 million, he becomes one of the highest-paid defensemen in the NHL. Bouchard, who was a pending restricted free agent, has put together back-to-back impressive seasons with the Oilers. In 2024-25, he tallied 67 points (14 goals, 53 assists) in 82 games while blocking 108 shots. Since he is only 25 years old, Bouchard seems poised to remain among the top fantasy defensemen for many more seasons.

Evan Bouchard Enjoys Three-Point Period In Game 2 Against Panthers

Edmonton Oilers defenseman Evan Bouchard went off for three points in the opening period of Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals against the Florida Panthers on Friday night, finishing a 5-4 double-overtime loss with a goal and two assists. Additionally, he had a game-high eight shots on goal and blocked four attempts from the opposition. Bouchard became the first blue-liner and only the fourth player overall in NHL history with multiple three-point periods in the Stanley Cup Finals. It's been an impressive start to the series from Bouchard, who already boasts four points (one goal, three assists) through the first two games and has recorded 15 shots on goal. For the entire postseason campaign, he has produced 21 points (seven goals, 14 assists) in 18 appearances, with 52 shots and 26 blocks.

Edmonton Oilers defenseman Evan Bouchard had his sixth multi-point performance of the postseason Friday night, delivering a pair of assists in a 3-0 win over the Dallas Stars. He set up Ryan Nugent-Hopkins for a power-play goal, which turned out to be the game-winning tally, and assisted Brett Kulak on his first postseason marker. Additionally, Bouchard recorded three blocks while logging 23:33 of ice time. It has been another prolific playoff campaign for Bouchard, but he has yet to register points in more than two consecutive games. He will try to change that in Sunday's Game 3 against the Stars. Edmonton Oilers defenseman Evan Bouchard has saved some of his best playoff performances for series-clinching games and will hope to end another team's Stanley Cup dream on Wednesday night in Game 5 against the Vegas Golden Knights. Among defensemen who have played in at least five potential series-clinchers, Bouchard ranks fifth all-time with a scoring average of 1.25 points per game. Barry Beck holds the top mark with 1.38 points per game. Last year, Bouchard set an NHL record for the most assists by a defenseman in one postseason with 26 and once again played a massive role in Edmonton's offense, setting up Leon Draisaitl, Corey Perry, and Connor McDavid. He remains a strong option in DFS given his role on the Edmonton power play.

Bouchard did all of his damage in the second frame. Bouchard first added the secondary assist on Jake Walman's seventh goal of the campaign. He then tallied the secondary helper on Leon Draisaitl's power-play goal, which was his 52nd of the season. Since March 1, Bouchard has tallied 11 helpers and added four goals across 15 contests. During this stretch, the 25-year-old has logged 19 blocked shots and added 37 total shots on goal. Through 74 games this season, Bouchard has found the back of the net 13 times and added 47 helpers, with 22 of his assists coming on the power play.

Evan Bouchard A Game-Time Call On Saturday

Edmonton Oilers defenseman Evan Bouchard (lower body) is considered a game-time call for Saturday's meeting with Vegas. He suffered a lower-body injury near the end of Thursday's battle against Minnesota and didn't hit the ice for practice on Friday.
