Jacob Markstrom Starting On Wednesday

New Jersey Devils goaltender Jacob Markstrom will get the starting nod on Wednesday evening against the Chicago Blackhawks. Markstrom is coming off a poor showing as he allowed three goals on 28 shots against the Vancouver Canucks. He will look to get back on track on the road in Chicago. Over his previous seven contests, Markstrom has posted an underwhelming 1-5-1 record with a high 4.00 GAA and an .848 save percentage. However, before this recent skid, the 35-year-old posted a strong 21-9-5 record with a 2.20 GAA and a .912 save percentage. Fantasy managers should view Markstrom as a solid option in all standard formats and a strong play in DFS formats facing a struggling Chicago team.

Jacob Markstrom Activated From Injured Reserve Sunday

New Jersey Devils goaltender Jacob Markstrom (knee) was activated from Injured Reserve Sunday. He is poised to return to the lineup for Sunday's clash against the Vegas Golden Knights, although it's unclear if Markstrom will start the contest. Markstrom has been out since Jan. 22 due to an MCL sprain. He has played a big part in New Jersey's success this season, going 21-9-5 while recording three shutouts. Through 36 starts, he is sporting a 2.20 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage. Markstrom should receive plenty of work over the final stretch of the season as the Devils continue to battle for a playoff berth in the Metropolitan Division.

Jacob Markstrom Set To Miss 4-6 Weeks With MCL Sprain

New Jersey Devils goaltender Jacob Markstrom (knee) will be out four-to-six weeks after undergoing imaging that revealed an MCL sprain. Markstrom was injured in Wednesday's game after a collision and will now miss the remainder of the Devil's games leading into the Four Nations break, which starts on February 12. Markstrom has been brilliant in his first season with in New Jersey, going 21-9-5 with a .912 SV%, 2.20 GAA, and 9.6 GSAA. Without him, the Devils will go with Jake Allen as their starting goalie and Isaac Poulter as the backup. Allen should be picked up by all Markstrom owners in fantasy, or by anyone who is in need of a starting goalie.

Jacob Markstrom Exits Early On Wednesday, Expected To Miss Time

According to Mike Morreale of NHL.com, New Jersey Devils goaltender Jacob Markstrom (lower body) exited Wednesday's contest early and is expected to miss time. Markstrom departed in the second frame after a Boston skater crashed into his leg. Markstrom left the ice limping. Jake Allen replaced him for the remainder of the contest. Before exiting, the 34-year-old stopped six of the seven shots he faced. Allen stopped all 16 shots he faced en route to earning the victory. Fantasy managers should continue monitoring Markstrom's status. Jake Allen should see the majority of starts in the crease and is worth adding in standard formats. Over his previous four outings, he has held a .917% SV and a 2.28 GAA. Nico Dawes will likely be promoted from the AHL to fill the No.2 role.

Jacob Markstrom Snaps Losing Skid On Monday

New Jersey Devils goaltender Jacob Markstrom stopped 21 of the 23 shots he faced en route to defeating the Seattle Kraken. Markstrom was beat by an Adam Larsson wrist shot in the second and a Shane Wright power-play goal in the final frame. Entering this contest, Markstrom lost his previous two starts and held a poor .880% SV during this stretch. This victory helped him get back on track as he was riding a stellar six-game winning streak with a near-perfect 0.83 GAA prior to his losing skid. Overall, Markstrom has performed very well in his first season in New Jersey posting a 20-8-2 record with a 2.17 GAA and a .911% SV. Fantasy managers should continue to view the 34-year-old as a must-start option in all formats.

Jacob Markstrom Shuts Out Canucks

New Jersey Devils goaltender Jacob Markstrom kicked away 20 shots to register his first shutout of the season in Wednesday's 6-0 victory against Vancouver. Markstrom, a former Canuck, neutralized a team that had scored at least three goals in five straight games. The Swedish netminder improved to 5-3-1 for the season, and he now boasts a 2.68 goals-against average with a .903 save percentage. It's safe to say Markstrom has enjoyed a good start with his new club. He's also been getting plenty of help from his teammates, as New Jersey has limited the opposition to 21.7 shots per game across the last three matchups.

Jacob Markstrom Shines In New Jersey Debut

New Jersey Devils goalie Jacob Markstrom stopped 30 of the 31 shots he faced in his New Jersey debut on Friday afternoon in their victory over the Buffalo Sabres. The 34-year-old looked sharp in the season opener and was able to keep the Sabres quiet on their four power-play attempts. The lone goal came in the back half of the final frame off a snapshot from Buffalo defenseman Owen Power in the slot. This was an excellent debut for Markstrom, who hopes to get back on track after earning just 23 wins in each of the past two seasons in Calgary. Fantasy managers should expect New Jersey backup Jake Allen to get the starting nod on Saturday afternoon in the second game of the Global Series. Markstrom's next start is tentatively lined up to be on Thursday evening when the Devils host the high-scoring Toronto Maple Leafs.

Devils Acquire Jacob Markstrom

The New Jersey Devils have acquired goaltender Jacob Markstrom in a trade with the Calgary Flames. The Devils gave up defenseman Kevin Bahl and a 2025 top-10-protected first-round draft pick in the transaction. Markstrom waived his no-trade clause to get the deal done, with the Flames retaining 31.25 percent of his salary. The Swedish netminder, who spent four seasons with the Flames, has two more years to go on a contract that carries a $6 million cap hit. New Jersey was desperate to upgrade its goalie department after being ranked 27th in save percentage in 2023-24. Markstrom posted a .905 save percentage this term, going 23-23-2 with a 2.78 goals-against average. His fantasy value should receive a boost as Markstrom joins an ambitious team that hopes to get back into the playoffs next season.

Senators Are "Aggressively" Pursuing Jacob Markstrom

Calgary Flames goaltender Jacob Markstrom could find himself playing for another Canadian franchise next season. Sources have told Postmedia's Bruce Garrioch that the Ottawa Senators have been "one of the most aggressive teams" in chasing Markstrom. The Senators are in desperate need of an upgrade between the sticks after seeing the team record a league-worst .888 save percentage in 2023-24. Joonas Korpisalo, who made 49 starts, finished with a 3.27 goals-against average, and Anton Forsberg, who started 28 times, fared only slightly better, allowing 3.21 goals. Markstrom, who has also been heavily linked with the New Jersey Devils, produced a .905 save percentage this season with a 2.78 goals-against average.

Jacob Markstrom Expected To Return Saturday

Calgary Flames goaltender Jacob Markstrom (lower body) is expected to start Saturday's game against the Vancouver Canucks. The 34-year-old has been out since March 9 due to a lower-body injury. "He has been (our MVP)," defenseman MacKenzie Weegar said. "He's been our backbone. He's a leader for us. It starts with him. I feel us as a D-core feel super confident when he's in the net." Markstrom will enter Saturday's contest with the high-octane Canucks sporting a 2.68 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage across 41 appearances, going 22-17-2 in that time. The Flames also announced on Friday that backup Dan Vladar will undergo season-ending hip surgery, while prospect Dustin Wolf will remain with the Flames on an emergency basis.

Jacob Markstrom Could Return This Weekend

Calgary Flames goaltender Jacob Markstrom (lower body) could return to action as soon as this weekend, according to head coach Ryan Huska. The veteran has missed the past three contests due to a lower-body injury. "We're expecting him to skate three more times this week coming up," Huska said Monday. "Hopefully everything keeps progressing the right way and he's in our net on the weekend." The Swedish netminder has worked to a 2.68 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage across 41 games on the season, going 22-17-2 in that time. He was the subject of numerous trade rumors prior to the March 8 trade deadline but ultimately was not moved by the club.

Jacob Markstrom Ruled Out Tuesday, Dustin Wolf Called Up

Calgary Flames goaltender Jacob Markstrom (lower body) will miss Tuesday's contest against the Colorado Avalanche. Markstrom was originally slated to start Tuesday, but the Flames have ruled him out due to a lower-body injury. This might be a blessing in disguise for Markstrom's fantasy owners, as the Flames' defensive corps has taken a major hit after trading away Noah Hanifin and Chris Tanev, resulting in some pretty bad numbers for Markstrom in the last few games. Dustin Wolf was called up to replace Markstrom, but whether or not he starts tonight is yet to be determined. Either way, a matchup against the Avalanche doesn't make for an ideal goalie stream.

Jacob Markstrom Cruises To Victory Against Bruins

Calgary Flames goaltender Jacob Markstrom stopped 21-of-22 shots on goal in Tuesday's 4-1 victory against the Bruins. Markstrom faced an uncharacteristically low shot total in the contest, with the only goal surrendered coming from Bruins center Pavel Zacha in the early minutes of the third period. Markstrom improves to a record of 15-13-2 to go along with two shutouts, a 2.55 goals against average and .913 save percentage through 30 appearances.

Jacob Markstrom Returns To Calgary's Crease

Calgary Flames goaltender Jacob Markstrom (lower body) will be back between the sticks Tuesday versus St. Louis. The Flames No. 1 returns to the lineup following a three-game absence. A fractured finger has also left a mark on Markstrom's campaign. However, he's performed well when healthy, going 13-11-2 with a 2.59 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage. The Swedish netminder has won nine of his last 13 starts while giving up 2.31 goals per game.

Jacob Markstrom Collects Win No. 200 With A Shutout

Calgary Flames goaltender Jacob Markstrom reached 200 career wins on Thursday by beating the Ducks on the road 3-0. He became the third Swedish netminder in NHL history to hit the 200-win mark. Markstrom kept Anaheim from scoring with 25 saves and now has sole possession of third on the franchise's all-time list with 14 shutouts. It's been a very impressive return to the lineup from Markstrom, who's won both of his starts while allowing only one goal since coming back from a broken finger. He has improved his record to 8-8-2 and holds a 2.67 goals-against average with a .906 save percentage.

Jacob Markstrom Makes A Winning Return

Calgary Flames goaltender Jacob Markstrom made a triumphant return to the crease on Monday, beating the Panthers 3-1 with a 33-save effort. After missing a couple of weeks of action due to a broken finger, Markstrom only let one Sam Reinhart strike on the power play slip past him. Markstrom improved to 7-8-2 for the year. It's not been a good season for him, but three of Markstrom's victories have come in his last four appearances, which is definitely an encouraging sign. He has logged a 2.83 goals-against average for the campaign and boasts a .901 save percentage.

Jacob Markstrom Activated From Injured Reserve

Calgary Flames goaltender Jacob Markstrom (finger) was activated from Injured Reserve on Sunday. Markstrom has been unavailable for seven games after breaking his finger in practice on Dec. 4, but he looks on track to return to the crease for Monday's matchup against Florida. Dan Vladar and Dustin Wolf shared the duties between the pipes during Markstrom's absence, with one win each. It's been a struggle all around in Calgary for the team, and Markstrom has been limited to only six wins in 16 starts, producing a 2.95 goals-against average along with a .986 save percentage.

Jacob Markstrom Back At Practice Wednesday

Calgary Flames goaltender Jacob Markstrom (illness) was a full participant in practice on Wednesday. Markstrom missed Monday's game against the Vegas Golden Knights with an illness, but it looks like he should be able to return Thursday against Dallas. Daniel Vladar played a stellar game in his absence, stopping 27-of-28 shots and earning the win. Markstrom should still be the undisputed number one when healthy, but Vladar could see more starts if he keeps playing well. Markstrom should be rostered in most fantasy leagues given his solid play so far this season.
