Jake Sanderson Keeps Senators Alive With Overtime Winner

Ottawa Senators defenseman Jake Sanderson potted a huge goal in Game 4 against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday, scoring a 4-3 winner in overtime to extend the series. The Senators were in danger of being swept in the first round and gave up a late game-tying goal in the third period. However, Sanderson was able to keep his team alive with a strike at the 17:42 mark in overtime. The 22-year-old also notched a power-play assist in the contest, leading all skaters on the team in ice time with 30:05. He finished with three shots, three blocks, one hit, and two penalty minutes. For the series, Sanderson has logged three points (one goal, two assists), nine shots, eight blocks, and four hits in four games.

Jake Sanderson Back In Action Thursday

Ottawa Senators defenseman Jake Sanderson (rest) will re-enter the lineup on Thursday as the team wraps up its regular season schedule with a home game against the Carolina Hurricanes. Sanderson missed his second game of the season on Tuesday against the Chicago Blackhawks when he was rested. 2024-25 has been a breakout campaign for Sanderson, who has tallied 55 points (11 goals, 44 assists) in 79 outings. With Thomas Chabot (rest) and Artem Zub (rest) leaving the lineup on Thursday, Sanderson should have plenty to do against Carolina alongside Nick Jensen (rest), who is returning from a two-game absence.

Jake Sanderson Resting Against Blackhawks

Ottawa Senators defenseman Jake Sanderson (rest) will skip Tuesday's contest against the Chicago Blackhawks. Ottawa will give one of its key players some rest before the postseason. Sanderson has enjoyed a hugely successful campaign in 2024-25, notching a career-high 55 points (11 goals, 44 assists) in 79 games while blocking a team-high 163 shots. Thomas Chabot will carry additional fantasy value on Tuesday as Sanderson's replacement on the first power-play unit. He has recently boosted his productivity, totaling nine points (two goals, seven assists) during a five-game scoring streak. Nick Jensen (rest) will also exit the lineup on Tuesday, which will increase the workload of the remaining defensemen.

Jake Sanderson Good To Go Monday

Ottawa Senators defenseman Jake Sanderson (neck) will play in Monday's matchup against the Washington Capitals. Sanderson left Saturday's game against the San Jose Sharks earlier due to a neck injury. However, he was on the ice Monday morning and will not miss any further time. Sanderson is a huge part of the Senators defense, having logged 37 points (six goals, 31 assists) and 125 blocks in 58 appearances. He plays in all situations and has notched 22 power-play points and four short-handed points across the campaign.

Jake Sanderson Exits Early On Saturday

Ottawa Senators defenseman Jake Sanderson (upper body) exited early during their victory over the San Jose Sharks on Saturday evening. Sanderson sustained a hit near his neck and exited shortly after. After the game, the team did not provide an update on his status. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor him leading up to their next contest on Monday evening against the Washington Capitals. Before exiting this game, Sanderson tallied an assist with four shots on goal and two blocked shots. Over his previous 10 contests, Sanderson has totaled 11 points (four goals, seven helpers) with 31 shots on goal and 21 blocked shots. If the 22-year-old has to miss time, fantasy managers should expect Thomas Chabot to move up to the top power-play unit and top pairing.

Jake Sanderson Returns To Senators Lineup

Ottawa Senators defenseman Jake Sanderson (lower body) will return to action on Saturday against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The 22-year-old missed Thursday's loss to the Boston Bruins due to a lower-body injury, but luckily for Ottawa, Sanderson's absence will be limited to only one game. Sanderson has played a significant role for the Senators in 2024-25, recording 25 points (two goals, 23 assists) in 47 games while blocking a team-high 102 shots. The Ottawa defense will also welcome back Travis Hamonic (lower body) on Saturday, although Nick Jensen (undisclosed) has been ruled out for the weekend. Hamonic will replace Jensen on the second defensive pairing, while Sanderson will continue his duties on the top pairing. Sanderson is also expected to rejoin the first power-play unit.

Jake Sanderson Enjoys Another Multi-Point Outing

Ottawa Senators defenseman Jake Sanderson logged his second multi-point game of the season Wednesday with a goal and an assist in a 6-1 win over the Capitals. He had his third helper of the year when his defense partner Artem Zub scored in the second period, and Sanderson was left with the honors of icing the game with the team's final goal in the third frame. The 21-year-old also totaled two blocks and two penalty minutes in the contest, finishing with a plus-one rating in 20:17 of ice time. Sanderson's stock continues to rise in fantasy hockey and in real life as well. He looks extremely mature for his age and plays a very smart game. This has led to him being currently tied for second in defensemen scoring with five points (two goals, three assists) in four games.

The 20-year-old has been enjoying a good rookie campaign with 21 points in 51 appearances. He suffered an undisclosed injury on a hit by Edmonton's Vincent Desharnais in the third period. The Senators got Artem Zub back from a lower-body injury Saturday but their blue line took a new injury hit straight away. Jake Sanderson Exits With Injury Thursday

Ottawa Senators defenseman Jake Sanderson was injured in Thursday's 3-2 overtime loss to Washington. He was hit under the chin with a shot early in the third period and left holding his neck. Sanderson finished with 15:55 of ice time and had one block in the contest. Ottawa didn't have any immediate updates on his status after the game. At least the 20-year-old will be getting some nice recovery time, as Ottawa's Friday's match against Detroit was postponed due to bad weather conditions and the team will be off until Dec. 27. Sanderson had a good start to the season and was among the top scoring rookies, but he has been slumping throughout December with only one point collected in 11 outings. He's on 12 points through 33 games for the whole year. Ottawa also lost forwards Tyler Motte and Rourke Chartier to upper-body injuries Thursday.

Jake Sanderson Dishes Two Assists Wednesday

Ottawa Senators defenseman Jake Sanderson had a solid game Wednesday, recording two assists (one on the powerplay) in a 4-1 win over the Buffalo Sabres. Sanderson also chipped in four shots, two hits, and five blocks in what was a studly all-around performance. He is up to seven assists this season, but remains without a goal. With Thomas Chabot (concussion) on the IR, Sanderson has been given a prime opportunity to succeed with an average of over 25 minutes of ice time in the last two games. He certainly was up to the task tonight and should remain a strong fantasy asset until Chabot returns.
