Buffalo Sabres forward Matthew Savoie is expected to make his NHL debut on Friday at home against the Minnesota Wild. The rookie appears to be in a nice position for early success as he has practiced with Tage Thompson and Jeff Skinner on the team's top line over the last two days while even getting reps on the top power-play unit. The ninth overall pick of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft has recorded two goals and five points in six games with the AHL's Rochester Americans before his NHL promotion. Additionally, he tallied 73 goals and 185 points across 127 games with the WHL's Winnipeg Ice in his final two seasons in junior. Savoie makes for a nice DFS streaming option this week but will likely lose his top-line spot when Alex Tuch (day-to-day) returns to the lineup.

Matthew Savoie Called Up By Sabres
The Buffalo Sabres have called up top prospect and forward Matthew Savoie from the American Hockey League's Rochester Americans. The ninth overall pick of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft had a chance to crack Buffalo's opening-night roster but a shoulder injury suffered in a prospect tournament in late September forced him to the minors to begin the season. The 19-year-old has notched two goals and five points alongside six penalty minutes through six games with the Americans this season after notching 75 goals and 185 points across 127 games with the Western Hockey League's Winnipeg Ice over the last two seasons. The Sabres' forward depth is being tested with Dylan Cozens, Jack Quinn, Zach Benson, and Brandon Biro all currently sidelined with injuries.

Matthew Savoie Expected To Return To Practice Next Week
Buffalo Sabres center Matthew Savoie (shoulder) is on track to continue practicing next week. The 19-year-old hurt his shoulder in a prospects game at the start of last week. Savoie is looking to break into the Sabres team for the upcoming campaign after making his pro debut last term with a couple of AHL playoff games with the Rochester Americans. If he can't make the squad, Savoie is set to spend another season in the WHL, where he's tallied 192 points (73 goals, 119 assists) in 149 appearances.
