Mattias Janmark Likely to Make Season Debut Monday

Edmonton Oilers forward Mattias Janmark (undisclosed) is on track to make his season debut on Monday against the Columbus Blue Jackets, the Oilers' play-by-play announcer Jack Michaels reports. After Friday's practice, Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch said that Janmark will "definitely" be activated from Injured Reserve before the team begins a seven-game road trip after Monday's contest. Janmark has never managed more than 34 points in a single NHL season and doesn't offer much fantasy value. But his return to the lineup could boost Edmonton's 81.8 percent penalty kill, which is currently ranked 12th in the league. Janmark finished the 2024-25 campaign with 18 points (two goals, 16 assists) in 80 games.

Vegas Golden Knights forward Mattias Janmark scored in a second consecutive game on Friday, notching the team's third goal in a 3-1 win over Anaheim. He fired off three shots overall in just a little over 14 minutes of action, skating on the first line. Vegas can't stay clear of injuries and the top line is missing Mark Stone (upper body) and Max Pacioretty (wrist) again. Evgenii Dadonov also joined the line on Friday. Stone is listed day-to-day, but Pacioretty has been ruled out indefinitely, so Janmark finds himself in a great situation to boost his numbers. He's now on four goals and 11 points for the campaign.

Vegas Golden Knights center Mattias Janmark created more havoc when Vegas was playing short-handed on Wednesday. He scored a goal and set up a goal during the 6-5 loss in Anaheim. Janmark only had one shot on goal, and that went in. His marker, which came 1:58 into the third period, was set up by Mark Stone. The 28-year-old was added to the COVID-19 list at the start of the week and it's unknown when he will be ready to play. The former Dallas Star split last season between Chicago and Vegas, providing good depth scoring for both sides. He ended up posting 11 goals and 24 points in 56 appearances. William Carrier (concussion) will also miss the game, and the absentees give Pavel Dorofeyev a chance to make his NHL debut. The former third-round draft pick showed a bit of upside in his last term in the AHL with nine goals and 13 points in 23 games.
