Nils Hoglander to Sit Out 8-10 Weeks After Surgery

Vancouver Canucks winger Nils Hoglander (lower body) underwent surgery and is expected to miss 8-10 weeks. The Swedish forward suffered a lower-body injury in a preseason contest against the Seattle Kraken last week. It looks like Hoglander might not return until late November at the earliest. In the meantime, Drew O'Connor and Evander Kane could receive more usage among the forward group. The latter is definitely the better fantasy target. Kane hasn't performed well in recent years, but he has faced health issues and is expected to have a much better season in 2025-26 after overcoming his injuries.

Nils Hoglander Considered Week-to-Week

Vancouver Canucks winger Nils Hoglander (lower body) has been listed as week-to-week. The Swedish forward was injured during Wednesday's preseason game against the Calgary Flames. According to CHEK-TV's Rick Dhaliwal, Hoglander is dealing with a sprained ankle. Hoglander fills a middle-six role in Vancouver, and his presence will be missed at both ends of the ice if he can't recover in time for opening night. Last season, Hoglander registered 25 points (eight goals, 17 assists) and 76 hits in 72 appearances. His absence could give a prospect like Braeden Cootes an opportunity to make the team.

Nils Hoglander Iffy For Monday

Vancouver Canucks left wing Nils Hoglander (undisclosed) missed Sunday's practice and is considered day-to-day. He suffered an undisclosed injury in Saturday's 5-3 loss to the New York Rangers. Hoglander has operated as a top-line winger lately for Vancouver, averaging a point per game over his past six appearances. He has totaled 21 points (six goals, 15 assists) in 66 games over the season. Jake DeBrusk may regain a top-line spot if Hoglander is unavailable on Monday against the New Jersey Devils. DeBrusk has shown off his playmaking skills recently, notching assists in three of the past four games, giving him 40 points (23 goals, 17 assists) in 70 games for the season.

Nils Hoglander Hurt In Saturday's Loss

Vancouver Canucks left wing Nils Hoglander (undisclosed) missed most of Saturday's 5-3 loss to the New York Rangers. He logged only 7:03 of ice time, finishing the contest with one shot on goal and two hits. Vancouver also lost Elias Pettersson (undisclosed) in Saturday's loss. After the game, Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet told the media that both players are considered doubtful for the next game on Tuesday against the New Jersey Devils. Hoglander and Pettersson have been part of the team's top-six group, and a significant frontline shakeup could be on the horizon for the Canucks.

Nils Hoglander Signs Three-Year Extension

Vancouver Canucks left wing Nils Hoglander has signed a three-year, $9 million extension with the team. The contract will kick in next season following the conclusion of Hoglander's two-year, $2.2 million pact he signed with the Canucks last offseason. He finished the 2023-24 campaign with 24 goals and 36 points in 80 games while averaging 12:06 of ice time. In a statement announcing the extension, Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin praised Hoglander's work ethic and motor, adding that the team believes he still has a lot more room to grow. Hoglander is set to start the new campaign on the third line.

Nils Hoglander Returns To Canucks Lineup In Top-Six Role

Vancouver Canucks left wing Nils Hoglander will re-enter the lineup on Thursday against Edmonton. He's been a healthy scratch for the last two games but gets a fresh opportunity. Hoglander is poised for a top-six role, replacing Ilya Mikheyev, who will land in the press box after going scoreless in all 10 playoff games this year. With him on zero goals and one assist, things haven't gone great for Hoglander either in the postseason. But he will get a big chance to impress on Thursday, playing next to Elias Lindholm and Elias Pettersson.

Nils Hoglander Set To Be Scratched For Game 3

Vancouver Canucks left wing Nils Hoglander is expected to be a healthy scratch for Game 3 against Edmonton on Sunday. After enjoying a solid regular-season campaign, he's struggled to perform in the playoffs. The Swedish winger ranked fourth on the team with 24 goals and managed 36 points across 80 appearances. During the postseason, Hoglander has been limited to one assist in eight games. Linus Karlsson is expected to make his Stanley Cup Playoffs debut on the second line on Sunday.

Nils Hoglander Hands Out Two Assists

Vancouver Canucks winger Nils Hoglander registered two assists as the team beat Calgary 4-3 in a shootout Wednesday. Conor Garland and Sheldon Dries benefited from Hoglander's work after he was a late addition to the squad. The young winger was set to be a healthy scratch for the game, but Brock Boeser is currently feeling under the weather and he wasn't ready to play Wednesday despite taking part in warmups. Hoglander has struggled to make an impact in 2022-23, but he's now averaging a point per game over his last four outings. He's on nine points in total for the year with 24 games played, so it's been a significant improvement on his part lately.

Nils Hoglander Scores Twice In Vancouver Win Friday

Vancouver Canucks left-winger Nils Hoglander scored twice on Friday night as the Canucks went on to win 4-3 in the shootout over the Winnipeg Jets. Hoglander's two goals came during the first period. His first tally at 6:29 was set up by Bo Horvat who worked well with the young left-winger all night long. The second goal came in the closing moments of the opening stanza when Bo Horvat found Hoglander open once again. Hoglander had five shots on goal and four scoring chances in what was his most active game in four weeks. The winger may carry more and more fantasy relevance under Bruce Boudreau.

Nils Hoglander Enjoying Ride On Top Line

Vancouver Canucks winger Nils Hoglander was worked his way up to the top line and has been in fine form as of late, going pointless just once in the past five games. It was in a game where the whole team got neutralized as Winnipeg beat the Canucks 4-0 on Monday. Hoglander has seven goals and 16 points for his rookie campaign in 37 points with 77 shots. Unfortunately, Vancouver has only three-games scheduled for next week and takes the ice just once before Friday, but Hoglander is a guy fantasy managers should monitor, especially if Elias Pettersson (upper body) remains sidelined.

Nils Hoglander Picks Up Third Goal of Season in Win over Jets

Vancouver Canucks rookie forward Nils Hoglander pocketed his third goal of the season Saturday night as the Canucks topped the Jets 4-1. In a game where teammate Brock Boeser scored twice and took over the top spot for goals scored in the league, it would be easy to overlook Hoglander's scoring, but with his first-period marker, Hoglander now sits tied atop the goals leaderboard for rookies. With Boeser and Hoglander putting plenty of pucks in the net, it is no surprise that Vancouver now leads the league in goals scored. They do only rank seventh in goals scored per game, however, as the Canucks have played more games than anyone else in the league as of Sunday. Take the goal totals from Vancouver skaters with a grain of salt, but early returns show a high-powered offense that will have plenty of fantasy value to offer.
