Noah Hanifin Moves To Vegas

Defenseman Noah Hanifin has joined the Vegas Golden Knights, who acquired the 27-year-old from the Calgary Flames. In exchange, the Flames received a conditional 2025 first-round pick, a conditional 2025 third-round pick, and defenseman Daniil Miromanov while retaining 50 percent of Hanifin's salary. The deal also involved the Philadelphia Flyers, who received a 2024 fifth-round pick from Vegas for retaining 50 percent of Hanifin's remaining salary. Hanifin was the fifth pick in the 2015 NHL draft by Carolina and is playing in his ninth NHL season. He joined Calgary in 2018 via a trade. 2023-24 has been one of his best seasons in the league, as Hanifin has scored a career-high 11 goals and is flirting with a 50-point campaign, with 35 points earned through 61 outings. He's expected to replace Alec Martinez (undisclosed) in the top four in Vegas after the veteran was placed on Injured Reserve Wednesday.

Noah Hanifin Sends Out Two Assists Thursday

Calgary Flames defenseman Noah Hanifin registered his third multi-point game of the season Thursday with two assists in a 5-3 road victory over the Devils. Hanifin's helpers came in the third period as Calgary ruined Jack Hughes' return to the Devils lineup. The 27-year-old reached 28 points (nine goals, 19 assists) for the campaign -- 11 have come since the beginning of last month. Hanifin sees big minutes on Calgary's blue line and doesn't shy away from any dirty work either, with 75 blocks to his name through 51 games.

Noah Hanifin Continues Season-Opening Assist Streak

Calgary Flames defenseman Noah Hanifin remained in a giving mood on Monday, setting up two goals in a 3-2 shootout loss in Washington. Adam Ruzicka, who ended a 32-game goal drought, and Dillon Dube benefited from Hanifin's vision. The 26-year-old became the sixth blue-liner in Flames history to open a season with an assist streak of at least three games. Mark Giordano was the last one to do it in 2014-15. Through the first three games of the campaign, Hanifin has notched four assists in total, sitting tied for second in the league. Two of the helpers have come in power-play situations.

Noah Hanifin Open To Extension With Flames

Calgary Flames defenseman Noah Hanifin is open to signing an extension with the team. Hanifin's future has been up in the air after it was reported in the offseason that he isn't expected to extend his contract. However, it's now been clarified that the 26-year-old simply didn't want to re-sign over the summer and wants to see how the 2023-24 campaign pans out before committing himself to a new deal. Hanifin is set to become an unrestricted free agent if an agreement can't be found. The American blue-liner has spent the last five seasons in Calgary, producing 156 points (31 goals, 125 assists) in 359 games with 702 shots on goal and 425 blocks. His role has grown each year and Rasmus Andersson was the only skater on the team to average more ice time than Hanifin in 2022-23.

Flames Getting Calls On Noah Hanifin

Calgary Flames defenseman Noah Hanifin could be on the move this offseason, with Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reporting that teams have begun to ask the Flames about their plans with him. Hanifin is set to become an unrestricted free agent next season as he's about to enter the final year of a six-year deal that carries a $4.95 million cap hit. The 26-year-old had another solid season in Calgary, posting 38 points in 81 games with 176 shots on net, 76 hits and 129 blocks, but the Flames have a new general manager in charge in Craig Conroy and he could be looking to shake things up in a major way following the team's failure to make the playoffs for the second time in three years.

Noah Hanifin Records Four Assists

Calgary Flames defenseman Noah Hanifin had a big game with four assists in Saturday's 4-1 win over Seattle. He grabbed a pair of even-strength helpers in the first period, had a part in Michael Stone's power-play goal in the second, and finished the night with a short-handed assist on a Tyler Toffoli goal 1:27 from the end. Hanfiin also had two shots in the game with one block and two hits. The 25-year-old is having a strong offensive spell to finish off the season, going for 11 points across his last nine games.

Noah Hanifin Keeps Offensive Momentum Going Thursday

Calgary Flames defenseman Noah Hanifin keeps growing as a player and adding more offensive dynamics to his game. Thursday night, he scored and added an assist against the Seattle Kraken. Hanifin played 22:04 in all. He delivered two shots, two hits, and three blocked shots on Thursday as he continues to improve on the peripherals. Combine that with the increased ice time and Hanifin is starting to garner some looks from a fantasy perspective. He now has 12 points in 28 games which is more along the lines of his 2017-19 and 2018-19 seasons. Hanifin could even approach 40 points if Calgary ever starts playing better at home.

Noah Hanifin Hands Out Three Assists On Saturday

Calgary Flames defenseman Noah Hanifin doubled his points tally for the year on Saturday, finishing a 5-2 road victory over the Islanders with three assists. Two of the helpers came on the power play. Hanifin also tallied two blocks and registered one shot on goal in 22:07 of action. He logged over three minutes with the man advantage as Calgary spoiled New York's first-ever game at UBS Arena. Hanifin generally doesn't produce a lot of stats, so he's not really a factor in fantasy hockey, but the 24-year-old eats up a lot of minutes and plays an effective game for the Flames, having recorded a plus-eight rating for the season.
