Scott Mayfield News
New York Islanders defenseman Scott Mayfield (lower body) will be back in the lineup Thursday against Washington. He was injured in the team's season opener and has missed seven games. Mayfield had a career year offensively last season with 24 points (six goals, 18 assists) in 82 games, but his quality mostly comes out on the defensive side of things. The 31-year-old recorded a team-high 168 blocks in 2022-23 and delivered 107 hits. Samuel Bolduc comes out of the lineup to make room for Mayfield.
New York Islanders defenseman Scott Mayfield (leg) will miss a second consecutive game Friday against New Jersey. After getting hurt in the Islanders' season opener last Saturday, Mayfield returned to the ice for the team's optional morning skate on Friday, but he still hasn't recovered well enough from a left ankle injury to play. Samuel Bolduc will once again deputies for him on Friday, although the 22-year-old will likely continue to play a very marginal role for the team. He logged only 9:19 of ice time when making his season debut in Tuesday's 1-0 victory over the Coyotes.
New York Islanders defenseman Scott Mayfield (leg) won't be in the lineup Tuesday against Arizona. Mayfield was hurt in the team's season opener on Saturday against Buffalo when he blocked a shot with his left ankle. He managed to finish the game, but swelling kept him out of practice on Monday, and it looks like the situation hasn't improved. The Islanders will trust Samuel Bolduc as Mayfield's replacement on Tuesday. The 22-year-old skated in his first 17 NHL games last season, posting three points (one goal, two assists), 20 shots on goal, 16 blocks, and 26 hits.
New York Islanders defenseman Scott Mayfield is considered day-to-day with a leg injury. His left ankle has swollen up after he used it to block a shot in the team's season opener against Buffalo on Saturday. Mayfield could now be forced to sit on Tuesday when the Islanders host Arizona. "He's got some swelling, and there's maintenance there," Islanders head coach Lane Lambert said Monday. "We'll see how he is tomorrow." Mayfield finished without a point against the Sabres but made his presence felt on the ice with four blocks and two hits in 16:47 of ice time. Samuel Bolduc replaced Mayfield on the third defensive pairing in Monday's practice and appears poised to jump into the lineup if Mayfield doesn't feel better on Tuesday.
