Thatcher Demko Progressing In Recovery From Knee Issue

Vancouver Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko (knee) could return before the end of November. Demko has been dealing with an uncommon knee injury that dates back to the 2024 playoffs and hasn't played in any games yet this season. He has been skating at optional skates and individually before team practices as he gets himself ready to return. He will likely need a bit of a ramp up period once he returns to practice in full, but the 28-year-old's return appears to be on the horizon. Kevin Lankinen has filled in admirably for Demko, but Canucks will surely be happy to have their star goalie back. Demko should be rostered and stashed in all fantasy formats.

Thatcher Demko Unsure If He Will Be Ready For Start Of Season

Vancouver Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko (knee) is progressing but isn't sure if he will be ready to play when the team opens the season on Oct. 9 versus Calgary. Speaking to the media on Thursday, Demko said he doesn't have a timeline for his return but is on a "great trajectory" right now. The 28-year-old has been nursing a knee issue since getting hurt in Vancouver's playoff opener in April. Arturs Silovs is set to begin the year as the Canucks' No. 1 if Demko doesn't recover in time for the season opener.

Thatcher Demko Resumes Skating

Vancouver Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko (knee) is back skating and working on the ice this week, according to CHEK's Rick Dhaliwal. Demko is working his way back from a knee injury and was expected to miss the preseason. However, his return to the ice might signal that he could be game-ready sooner than previously expected. The American netminder enjoyed a career year in 2023-24, posting a 35-14-2 record with five shutouts and allowing 2.45 goals with a .918 save percentage. Despite the positive news regarding Demko, Dhaliwal also reported on Tuesday that the Canucks continue to pursue unrestricted free agent Kevin Lankinen as an extra option between the pipes.

Thatcher Demko Expected To Miss Preseason

Vancouver Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko (knee) will reportedly not be ready for training camp or preseason, according to CHEK's Rick Dhaliwal and Thomas Drance of The Athletic. Demko is also considered questionable for the regular-season opener on Oct. 9 versus Calgary, but the team hopes to have him available by then. The Canucks No. 1 continues to rehab a knee injury, which limited him to only one playoff appearance last season. Arturs Silovs did a good job filling in for him. Fantasy managers should have him on their radar in case Demko remains on the shelf for the start of the season.

Thatcher Demko Remains Without Clear Timeline

Vancouver Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko (knee) is progressing but remains without a clear timeline when he will return to full health. Demko missed time near the end of the regular season last term and was limited to only one playoff outing due to a knee injury. His unclear status means Vancouver might look for a new goaltender for the start of 2024-25. Speaking during a recent appearance on Halford & Brough, Canucks insider Rick Dhaliwal noted that he wouldn't be surprised if the Canucks continue to "poke around" the goalie market. Starting the season without Demko would be a big blow for Vancouver. The 28-year-old was named a Vezina Trophy finalist for his performances in 2023-24 when he finished 35-14-2 with a 2.45 goals-against average and a .918 save percentage.

Thatcher Demko Unavailable For Game 7, Arturs Silovs Will Start

Vancouver Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko (knee) will not be available for Game 7 against the Edmonton Oilers on Monday. Demko has missed all but the first game of the Canucks playoff run with a knee injury, and although head coach Rick Tocchet has expressed optimism that their star netminder will return soon, it won't happen Monday. Arturs Silovs will be Vancouver's starter, and although he's had his ups and downs this postseason, he's provided much more than the Canucks could've ever hoped for from a third-string goalie.

Thatcher Demko Out For Game 1 Against Oilers

Vancouver Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko (knee) has been ruled out for Game 1 of the second-round series against Edmonton. He was sidelined for the final five games against Nashville in the opening round and won't be ready for the start of the new series either. Game 1 is scheduled for Wednesday. Arturs Silovs is on track to make his fourth consecutive start between the sticks. The 23-year-old has filled in admirably for Demko, going 2-1-o against the Predators with one shutout and only five total goals allowed. But he faces a much tougher challenge in the second round against Connor McDavid & Co.

Thatcher Demko Listed As Week-To-Week

Vancouver Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko is listed as week to week with an undisclosed injury. The ailment kept him out of Tuesday's 4-1 Game 2 loss to the Nashville Predators and he was originally questionable for the remainder of the series but now it appears he's likely done for the first round. Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet said that the ailment is not related to the late-season knee injury that cost the American 14 games. "We're going to evaluate him today on something," Tocchet said. "It wasn't the old injury and that's all I've really got for you guys." Demko was excellent this season, posting a 2.45 goals-against average and a 2.45 save percentage in 51 games. Casey DeSmith started and stopped just 12 of the 15 shots he faced in the loss.

Thatcher Demko Out For Game 2, Questionable For Rest Of Series

Vancouver Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko will miss Tuesday's Game 2 against Nashville and is considered questionable for the rest of the series due to a lower-body injury. The Canucks No. 1 only recently returned to action after missing five weeks with a knee injury. He saved 20 of 22 shots in Game 1 against the Predators, helping Vancouver to a 4-2 win. Casey DeSmith, who has previously featured just once in the playoffs, will take over the crease while Demko heals. DeSmith has had an up-and-down year in Vancouver and posted a 12-9-6 record during the regular season, allowing 2.89 goals with a .896 save percentage.

Thatcher Demko To Return On Tuesday

Vancouver Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko (knee) will be back between the pipes for Tuesday's contest against the Calgary Flames. The American netminder has missed the past 14 games with a knee injury suffered during a March 9 contest against the Winnipeg Jets. "I only missed about a month here, which is good, and just having attention to detail, staying engaged, going through some old videos and staying sharp mentally and obviously it will be a big game for me," Demko said Monday. The Canucks enter Tuesday's contest sitting atop the Pacific Division, five points ahead of the Edmonton Oilers with two games to go. The Oilers still have an outside shot at passing the Canucks with three games left in their regular season.

Thatcher Demko To Return Before Postseason

Vancouver Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko is listed as week to week with a lower-body injury but will return before postseason play begins. "Yes. I'm not worried about that at all," Canucks coach Rick Tocchet said about Demko's availability for the postseason. The 28-year-old leads the NHL with 34 wins on the season, his seventh in the NHL. He has posted a 2.47 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage across 49 appearances while his 18.29 goals saved above average ranks second in the league only to Connor Hellebuyck's 25.54 mark. Casey DeSmith is set for regular starts for the Canucks who sit second overall in the NHL standings with a 42-17-7 record on the season.

Casey Desmith Set To Start For Vancouver With Thatcher Demko Out

Vancouver Canucks goaltender Casey Desmith will become the team's starting goaltender for as long as Thatcher Demko (undisclosed) is out. Demko is expected to miss 2-3 weeks, which happens to closely align with most of the fantasy playoffs. Managers who lost Demko and are lucky enough to still have Desmith on their waiver wire should grab him immediately. He won't post the .917 SV%, 2.47 GAA, or 18.3 GSAA that Demko has this year, but he could win some games and will get a heavy workload. He has already been confirmed as the starter for both Wednesday's game against Colorado and Saturday's game against Washington.

Thatcher Demko Exits With Undisclosed Injury

Vancouver Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko suffered an undisclosed injury in Saturday's 5-0 win over Winnipeg and was forced to leave the contest in the second period. He stopped all 12 shots he faced. Casey DeSmith came in to complete Vancouver's first team shutout since 2015 with 10 saves. The severity of Demko's injury is unclear at the moment. "Yeah, I haven't talked to the doctor," said Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet when asked about Demko during his postgame press conference. "I don't think it's too serious, but I don't know. I can't speculate; I haven't talked to the doctor." Demko made his second All-Star appearance a few weeks ago and has been fantastic throughout the campaign for Vancouver. He's sporting a 34-13-2 record with a 2.47 goals-against average, a .917 save percentage, and five shutouts.

Thatcher Demko Stays Hot With Shutout Versus Chicago

Vancouver Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko collected a seventh consecutive win with a 31-save shutout in Monday's 2-0 victory over Chicago. It's his second shutout in four games and his fourth overall this season. Arizona's Connor Ingram and Pittsburgh's Tristan Jarry are the only netminders in the league with more clean sheets in 2023-24. Demko has benefited from playing behind a very high-scoring team, but he's also been sharp with his work this month, registering a 2.23 goals-against average with a .932 save percentage. With him having suffered only three losses since the start of December, Demko sits on a 25-8-1 record for the campaign and has produced a 2.40 goals-against average along with a .922 save percentage.

Thatcher Demko Reaches 15 Wins With Third Shutout

Vancouver Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko won the race to 15 wins this season among NHL goalies, keeping Florida from scoring on Thursday with 36 saves in a 4-0 win. He joined Pittsburgh's Tristan Jarry as the only netminders with three shutouts for the campaign. The Canucks are scoring goals for fun, and it's also been a highly successful year for Demko, who's dropped back-to-back decisions just once. On Thursday, he improved to 15-7-0 for the season. Demko sits fifth with a 2.31 goals-against average and also holds a top-five position with a .923 save percentage.

Thatcher Demko Backstops Canucks To Another Win

Vancouver Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko impressed with a 27-save shutout in Saturday's 2-0 win over Dallas. The Stars were beaten in regulation for only the second time this season, and the Canucks continued their historic start, matching a franchise record by going 8-2-1 at the beginning of a campaign. Demko's personal record reads 6-2-0 following eight starts. No goalie has managed more wins in the league this season, and Demko is also among the league leaders with a 1.56 goals-against average and a .947 save percentage.

Thatcher Demko Grabs His First Shutout Of The Season

Vancouver Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko kept the St. Louis Blues from scoring on Friday, registering his first shutout of the season in a 5-0 win with 22 saves. It's his fourth career shutout. Demko has now tallied back-to-back wins to improve his record to 3-2-0. He's demonstrated good form so far by logging a 1.91 goals-against average and a .936 save percentage. The 27-year-old is set to sit on Saturday as the Canucks complete a back-to-back against the Rangers, but Demko should be back between the pipes for Tuesday's matchup against Nashville. Another victory would give him only his third winning streak of at least three games since the start of last season.

The 27-year-old has slowly improved playing well in the last month of the season, with his 13-14-4 record, .900 save percentage, and a 3.20 goals-against-average. Next, he meets Anaheim Ducks goalie Lukas Dostal who has a 4-9-3 record. Anaheim has lost 11 straight contests dating back to March 19th.

Thatcher Demko Keeps Chicago From Scoring

Vancouver Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko tallied his first shutout of the season Thursday with a 33-save effort in a 3-0 win over Chicago. The 27-year-old now boasts an 8-3-2 record through his last 13 starts, finishing off the season very strongly after previously having a horrible time. Despite the recent improvement, Demko's overall record for the season still stands at a disappointing 12-14-4, and he has posted a 3.25 goals-against average with a .898 save percentage. He'll be looking to produce a big bounce-back season in 2022-23, and his recent performances are certainly promising regarding Demko's chances of becoming a reliable option again for fantasy managers.
