Filip Chytil News
New York Rangers forwards Ryan Strome (lower body) and Filip Chytil (upper body) will both be game-time decisions for Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday night, head coach Gerard Gallant said on Wednesday. Strome sustained the injury and left in Game 3, while Chytil suffered his injury in Game 4. Each game in the series has been won by the home team, and the Rangers would receive additional help with the return of two key players in Strome and Chytil for Game 5 at Madison Square Garden.
New York Rangers forward Filip Chytil played just 10:39 in Saturday's Game 6 victory over the Hurricanes, but he made a big impact with two goals. The youngster netted both of his goals in the second period inside 3:23 of action to put the Rangers 4-1 up. Artemi Panarin eventually sealed the win in the third, making it 5-2 with a power-play goal. Chytil also scored in Game 1 against Carolina, but it's not been a very fruitful postseason for him overall as he's managed four goals and five points in 13 games. The 22-year-old found himself riding on the first line early in the series, but he's now back on the third line and is struggling to get meaningful minutes.
New York Rangers forward Filip Chytil is set to remain on the top line for Game 4 against Carolina. He replaced Frank Vatrano on the line in Sunday's Game 3 and the shakeup helped Rangers to bounce back from two defeats with a 3-1 win. The 22-year-old has had an underwhelming season with 22 regular-season points and three points in the playoffs, but skating on the first line has given him a chance to link up with the team's top goal-scorer Chris Kreider and Mika Zibanejad, who has racked up nine points across the last five games.
New York Rangers center Filip Chytil was not seen in warm-ups on Wednesday night in Arizona. He was officially listed as a healthy scratch. It seems Gerrard Gallant had enough of his 40.8% win rate on face-offs. Also, the lack of points and positive plays made on offense had to wear on the New York Rangers and management as well. Maybe a night off on the back end of a back-to-back is just what Chytil needs going forward. Chytil has just three goals and four assists in 25 games.
