Thomas Bordeleau Out Week-To-Week With Lower-Body Injury

San Jose Sharks center Thomas Bordeleau is week-to-week with a lower-body injury. Bordeleau was hurt in training camp and might not be ready for the start of the regular season. "It is going to be close," Sharks head coach Ryan Warsofsky said regarding Bordeleau's availability for the regular-season opener. The 22-year-old appeared in 27 NHL games last season, scoring six goals and 11 points. He posted 25 points (11 goals, 14 assists) across 35 AHL appearances. Bordeleau has shown good upside, but the injury is an early blow for him this season.

Thomas Bordeleau Comes Out Of Sharks Lineup

San Jose Sharks center Thomas Bordeleau will have a night off on Saturday against Nashville, sitting out the contest as a healthy scratch. The 21-year-old hasn't been very productive early in the campaign, logging only one point across four outings with five shots on goal. Jacob Peterson will slide back into the lineup after being scratched for Thursday's 3-1 loss to Boston. He has yet to generate any points through two appearances this season. Givani Smith will also sit on Saturday, with the team adding an extra defenseman in the lineup in the form of Ty Emberson, who will play his first career game.

Thomas Bordeleau Makes NHL Debut On Sunday

San Jose Sharks forward Thomas Bordeleau will make his NHL debut on Sunday against Minnesota. He has just signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the club and will try to impress after a productive spell with the University of Michigan. Bordeleau, whose father Sebastien used to play for the Wild, posted 37 points in as many games for Michigan this season and he also skated in a pair of AHL games before getting the call to the big league, logging three assists in two games. The 2020 second-round pick is among San Jose's biggest prospects and should see plenty of action in the final few games of the season as the team will want to have a very close look at him.
