Baltimore Orioles pitching prospect Alex Pham enjoyed one of the best starts of his professional career on Tuesday evening against Double-A Altoona. In this outing, the right-hander tossed five 1/3 innings of one-run ball. He allowed just three hits, no walks, and struck out an impressive 11 batters. The former 19th-round pick has flashed high strikeout upside through the early part of the Double-A regular season. Across his first 19 innings of work (four starts), the University of San Francisco product has struck out 29 batters and served up just seven free passes. Last summer, Pham spent his entire time with Double-A Bowie and tallied 138 punchouts across 119 innings in which he held a 4.24 ERA. Fantasy managers should expect Pham to receive a promotion to Triple-A later this season.

Baltimore Orioles starting pitching prospect Alex Pham posted a great bounce-back performance on Thursday when he tossed six shutout frames. He allowed just one hit and one walk with six strikeouts. Entering this start, Pham carried a hefty 5.51 ERA and 1.90 WHIP across his previous four outings. This was only the second outing this season that the 24-year-old did not allow an earned run. The University of San Francisco product has a difficult season at Double-A with a 5.38 ERA and 1.38 WHIP across 73 innings. The right-hander posted a significantly better 2.67 ERA and 0.99 WHIP in 60 innings at Double-A last season, which shows how large of a step back Pham has taken this season. If Pham can continue to get himself settled at Double-A, he should see most of next summer at Triple-A Norfolk.
