Blaze Jordan Would Be Included In Package To Acquire Nolan Arenado

According to John Denton of MLB.com, Boston Red Sox first base prospect Blaze Jordan would likely be included in the package to acquire third baseman Nolan Arenado from the St. Louis Cardinals. Denton noted that both teams have remained in discussions, and the Cardinals have shown interest in Jordan. St. Louis' president of baseball operations, John Mozeliak, has said that moving Arenado would not only clear some salary for the team but also open up playing time for several young players on the roster, such as Thomas Saggese and Nolan Gorman. The Red Sox have been at the forefront of trade discussions for Arenado throughout the offseason. Blaze Jordan is ranked as the No. 22 prospect in the system, according to MLB.com. Last summer, Jordan hit seven home runs with a .261/.305/.388 line across 89 contests at Double-A. If the Red Sox were to acquire Arenado, Rafael Devers would likely shift to first base or the designated hitter spot.

Blaze Jordan Suffers Fractured Finger

Boston Red Sox corner infield prospect Blaze Jordan (finger) has been placed on the 7-day injured list with a fractured finger and is expected to miss several weeks. The 20-year-old has slowly slid down the rankings of Red Sox prospects within his time in the organization, but he has still produced at a respectable level. In 99 at-bats this season, Jordan hit .283 with two homers and 16 RBI. Jordan should be able to return later this summer, but he can remain on the waiver wire in most formats moving forward.

Blaze Jordan Riding Nine-Game Hit Streak At Double-A

Boston Red Sox first baseman prospect Blaze Jordan went 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored for Double-A Portland on Sunday, extending his current hit streak to nine games. After beginning the season 3-for-29 (.103) through eight games, the 21-year-old has gone 15-for-39 (.385) over his next nine games, including five multi-hit efforts in his last six. Jordan was a third-round draft pick in 2020 and is expected to reach the majors by 2025 per MLB.com. The right-handed hitter had 18 home runs in 2023 over 122 games between High-A and Double-A, but with his profile, that was a bit under expectation and he's got just two so far in 2024. As long as he keeps on hitting like this though, the home runs should come. Dynasty managers in need of power production should keep tabs on Jordan for signs that the home run stroke is continuing to develop.

Blaze Jordan, Wikelman Gonzalez Being Promoted To Double-A

The Boston Red Sox will promote corner infielder Blaze Jordan and right-hander Wikelman Gonzalez to Double-A Portland after this week's All-Star break. Jordan's promotion comes after he hit .324/.385/.533 with a .918 OPS, 12 homers, 22 doubles, a triple, 55 RBI and 48 runs scored in 73 games for High-A Greenville. Meanwhile, Gonzalez had a 5.14 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, 42 walks and 105 K's in 63 innings over 15 starts at the same level. Jordan, the team's No. 10 prospect per MLB Pipeline, is still only 20 years old, so he still has some more developing to do down on the farm and probably isn't a candidate to make his big-league debut until 2024, at the earliest. Gonzalez, 21, uses a three-pitch mix of a fastball, curve and changeup, but he'll need to throw more strikes in Double-A. He's the team's No. 11 prospect.

Marcelo Mayer, Blaze Jordan Promoted To High-A By Red Sox

Boston Red Sox farm director Brian Abraham confirmed that shortstop prospect Marcelo Mayer and third base prospect Blaze Jordan have been promoted from Single-A Salem to High-A Greenville. Mayer and Jordan are the team's No. 1 and No. 6 prospects, per MLB Pipeline. Mayer was dominating at Salem, hitting .286/.406/.504 with a .910 OPS, nine home runs, 40 RBI, 46 runs scored and 16 stolen bases in 66 games, while Jordan was slashing .287/.357/.446 with an .803 OPS, eight home runs, 57 RBI, 48 runs scored and four steals in 95 games. Mayer is still only 19 years of age and was the No. 4 overall pick of last year's draft. Jordan is also 19 and has recovered after a tough first month at Salem.

Blaze Jordan Remains Hot In Minors

Boston Red Sox third base prospect Blaze Jordan is turning heads again. (Shocker, right?) The powerful corner infielder is no stranger to the spotlight, whether it be mashing mammoth homers as a young teenager or signing for well above slot with Boston. Now, he's mashing in Single-A, giving the Red Sox no choice but to consider a promotion to Portland. Boston's No. 6 prospect, Jordan uses his elite bat speed to produce otherworldly exit velocities. Not only does he hit the ball hard and far, but he has shown a rare ability to work all parts of the field. His solid blend of power and contact have translated nicely to pro ball, quelling some of the biggest concerns that plagued his value ahead of the 2020 draft. Going forward, the biggest question will be whether or not Jordan can handle the next level of competition. For now, he seems to be calm, collected, and mighty powerful. Over his last six games, the 19-year-old is hitting 12-for-24 (.500) with two homers, five RBI, three walks, and just one strikeout. He has shown great discipline as a whole this season, posting a career-low strikeout rate while also increasing his walk rate from 2021.
