Blaze Jordan Earns Call to Majors, a Priority Add in All Leagues?

The St. Louis Cardinals are promoting infield prospect Blaze Jordan to the MLB roster ahead of Friday's contest against the Minnesota Twins. Jordan is currently ranked as the team's No. 25-ranked prospect on MLB.com, but he has been among the top hitters at the Triple-A level this season. Through 57 contests at Triple-A, the first/third baseman has posted an impressive .313/.373/.548 line with a stellar .921 OPS. During this stretch, Jordan has hit 19 doubles and launched 11 long balls while swiping two bags. This is worth noting as Jordan stumbled during his first stint with Memphis last summer, posting a low .198/.242/.366 line over a 41-game stint. Given that Nolan Gorman has struggled at the plate this season and was sent to Triple-A in a corresponding move, Jordan has a clear path to carve out an everyday role at the hot corner. For now, he is worth picking up all 12+ team leagues ahead of his MLB debut.

Blaze Jordan Dominating at Triple-A, On the Verge of Earning the Call?

St. Louis Cardinals infield prospect Blaze Jordan has put together a strong start to the Triple-A regular season and has made a strong case to earn the call to the majors before the end of the first half. Jordan was initially selected in the third round of the 2020 MLB Draft by the Boston Red Sox. He eventually joined the Cardinals in the trade that sent Steven Matz to the Red Sox last summer. With Triple-A Memphis this season, Jordan has looked more than comfortable, carrying a stellar .309/.369/.529 slash line with 17 doubles, 10 home runs, and two stolen bases. This is a stark improvement compared to the low .198/.242/.366 line he posted during his first stint with the Redbirds last summer. While Alec Burleson remains the team's primary first baseman, Jordan could carve out a role at the hot corner given Nolan Gorman's inconsistencies. For now, he is worth stashing in deeper 12+ team leagues with multiple N/A spots as his MLB debut continues to loom closer.

Blaze Jordan Sent to St. Louis In Exchange for Steven Matz

The Boston Red Sox traded first base prospect Blaze Jordan for left-handed pitcher Steven Matz from the Cardinals, according to Jeff Passan of ESPN. Jordan ranked as the number 24 prospect in the Red Sox system by MLB Pipeline, and has put together a strong season between Double-A and Triple-A this season. The 22-year-old is hitting .308/.377/.495 with 12 home runs, three stolen bases, and a 140 wRC+ in 358 plate appearances across the two levels. The hard-hit rate is subpar at 32.9%, but he does have decent raw power with a 110.1 mph MaxEV while making a lot of contact. His below-average chase rate leads to poor contact quality, but there are some positive elements to build on. He could be someone to monitor in super deep formats and NL-only leagues.

Blaze Jordan Consistent Since Promotion to Triple-A

Boston Red Sox third base prospect Blaze Jordan has been a steady contributor for Triple-A Worcester since his promotion on June 3. The 22-year-old earned the call-up by slashing .320/.415/.513 at Double-A and has already launched four home runs in just 31 games at his current level. Jordan continues to display advanced polish and plate discipline, striking out at a stellar 11.4% clip since the promotion. Alex Bregman currently blocks his path to the majors, but uncertainty around Bregman's contract situation could eventually clear the way for Jordan to claim a spot in Boston. Fantasy managers should watch closely as the deadline approaches.

Blaze Jordan Promoted to Triple-A

The Boston Red Sox are promoting infield prospect Blaze Jordan to Triple-A Worcester. Jordan was drafted in the third round of the 2020 MLB Draft and is set to make his Triple-A debut this week. Jordan has been one of the most productive hitters at the Double-A level through the early part of the 2025 campaign. Through his first 44 contests, the corner infielder has held an impressive .320/.415/.513 slash line with 11 doubles, six home runs, three stolen bases, and a 19:22 K:BB. Last season at Double-A, Jordan posted a modest .261/.305/.388 line with just seven long balls and a 46:18 K:BB across 89 contests. Fantasy managers should continue to keep an eye on Jordan's development as he could be in the mix to reach the majors during the second half of the season.

Blaze Jordan Has Big Week for Double-A Portland

Boston Red Sox corner infield prospect Blaze Jordan earned Eastern League Player of the Week honors for his seven-game performance last week. The former third-rounder went 10-for-23 (.435) with a double, two home runs, eight RBI, four runs scored, two steals, and a 2:3 BB:K. The right-handed slugger had been making steady progress through Boston's farm system before twice getting hit by pitches that slowed his progress in 2024; once for a month due to a fractured finger and again for two weeks after getting hit in the face. The 22-year-old is off to a great start this year, slashing .306/.401/.485 with five home runs and walking more than he's striking out (19:17 BB:K). At just a 10.8 percent strikeout rate and with some good pop, he looks ready to take the next step to Triple-A. Jordan has fallen outside of Boston's top 30, but was as high as No. 7 in 2022, and could still be knocking on the door to the majors by the end of the year, especially with the Sox being light on options at first base after the Triston Casas (knee) injury.

Blaze Jordan Would Be Included In Package To Acquire Nolan Arenado

According to John Denton of MLB.com, Boston Red Sox first base prospect Blaze Jordan would likely be included in the package to acquire third baseman Nolan Arenado from the St. Louis Cardinals. Denton noted that both teams have remained in discussions, and the Cardinals have shown interest in Jordan. St. Louis' president of baseball operations, John Mozeliak, has said that moving Arenado would not only clear some salary for the team but also open up playing time for several young players on the roster, such as Thomas Saggese and Nolan Gorman. The Red Sox have been at the forefront of trade discussions for Arenado throughout the offseason. Blaze Jordan is ranked as the No. 22 prospect in the system, according to MLB.com. Last summer, Jordan hit seven home runs with a .261/.305/.388 line across 89 contests at Double-A. If the Red Sox were to acquire Arenado, Rafael Devers would likely shift to first base or the designated hitter spot.

Blaze Jordan Suffers Fractured Finger

Boston Red Sox corner infield prospect Blaze Jordan (finger) has been placed on the 7-day injured list with a fractured finger and is expected to miss several weeks. The 20-year-old has slowly slid down the rankings of Red Sox prospects within his time in the organization, but he has still produced at a respectable level. In 99 at-bats this season, Jordan hit .283 with two homers and 16 RBI. Jordan should be able to return later this summer, but he can remain on the waiver wire in most formats moving forward.

Blaze Jordan Riding Nine-Game Hit Streak At Double-A

Boston Red Sox first baseman prospect Blaze Jordan went 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored for Double-A Portland on Sunday, extending his current hit streak to nine games. After beginning the season 3-for-29 (.103) through eight games, the 21-year-old has gone 15-for-39 (.385) over his next nine games, including five multi-hit efforts in his last six. Jordan was a third-round draft pick in 2020 and is expected to reach the majors by 2025 per MLB.com. The right-handed hitter had 18 home runs in 2023 over 122 games between High-A and Double-A, but with his profile, that was a bit under expectation and he's got just two so far in 2024. As long as he keeps on hitting like this though, the home runs should come. Dynasty managers in need of power production should keep tabs on Jordan for signs that the home run stroke is continuing to develop.

Blaze Jordan, Wikelman Gonzalez Being Promoted To Double-A

The Boston Red Sox will promote corner infielder Blaze Jordan and right-hander Wikelman Gonzalez to Double-A Portland after this week's All-Star break. Jordan's promotion comes after he hit .324/.385/.533 with a .918 OPS, 12 homers, 22 doubles, a triple, 55 RBI and 48 runs scored in 73 games for High-A Greenville. Meanwhile, Gonzalez had a 5.14 ERA, 1.44 WHIP, 42 walks and 105 K's in 63 innings over 15 starts at the same level. Jordan, the team's No. 10 prospect per MLB Pipeline, is still only 20 years old, so he still has some more developing to do down on the farm and probably isn't a candidate to make his big-league debut until 2024, at the earliest. Gonzalez, 21, uses a three-pitch mix of a fastball, curve and changeup, but he'll need to throw more strikes in Double-A. He's the team's No. 11 prospect.
