Christian Scott Turning Corner, Emerging as Under-the-Radar Rotation Option

New York Mets right-hander Christian Scott continues to trend upward after delivering his best start of the season last Sunday. Scott fired 5 2/3 scoreless innings, marking the deepest outing of his 2026 campaign and lowering his ERA to 3.20. The 25-year-old appears to be settling into a rhythm as he builds toward a full workload. Through 25 1/3 innings, Scott has recorded 30 strikeouts while posting a 1.38 WHIP. His ability to miss bats has remained a strength, and he has done an excellent job limiting hard contact. Scott's 1.5 percent barrel rate ranks in the 98th percentile among qualified pitchers. While he is still somewhat under the radar in fantasy leagues, the improving results and strong underlying metrics suggest he is worth monitoring as a potential rotation addition.

Christian Scott a Priority Target After Scoreless Outing

New York Mets starting pitcher Christian Scott tossed 5.2 innings of scoreless baseball during his latest start against the Miami Marlins on Sunday. Along the way, he allowed four hits and two walks while striking out five batters. Scott is 0-3 through 15 career starts, but it's not for a lack of quality outings. He owns a 4.09 career ERA, including a 3.20 ERA and a 3.47 FIP this season. Across six starts (25.1 innings) in 2026, he has also amassed 10.66 K/9, 4.97 BB/9, 0.36 HR/9, and a 28.6% ground ball rate. Given how well he has pitched this year, Scott has emerged as a priority target on the waiver wire in fantasy baseball. He ranks #81 among starters in RotoBaller's latest fantasy baseball rankings, and he is available in more than 90% of leagues.

Christian Scott a High-Upside Streamer to Target on the Waiver Wire

New York Mets starting pitcher Christian Scott opened 2026 in Triple-A after missing the entire 2025 season while recovering from elbow surgery. However, Scott rejoined the Mets rotation in late April and has been solid across 15 2/3 innings (four starts), pitching to a 3.45 ERA and 1.40 WHIP with 20 strikeouts. While Scott has struggled to work deep into games, he's logged 19 strikeouts over his last three appearances and is averaging 96 miles per hour on his fastball. As he gets more innings post-surgery under his belt, Scott's current walk rate of 12.9% should start to regress closer to the 6.1% walk rate he posted across 47 1/3 innings after making his MLB debut in 2024. Scott is currently slated for two manageable road starts against the Washington Nationals and Miami Marlins in the upcoming week and profiles as a solid streaming option with upside for fantasy managers to target on the waiver wire.

Christian Scott is Gaining Value After Another Solid Outing

New York Mets starting pitcher Christian Scott is beginning to settle in at the big league level. He struggled during his first outing of the year, when he issued five walks across 1.1 innings of work on April 23. Since then, Scott has cleaned up his act on the mound and is putting together quality numbers. During his most recent outing, Scott tossed 4.2 innings, allowing one earned run on three hits while striking out six batters in a no-decision against the Colorado Rockies. The right-hander has walked only two batters since his rough outing to begin the season. He's currently lined up to face the Detroit Tigers in his next start. He should be considered a possible deep league streaming option for that one.

Christian Scott Still Worth Stashing from the Waiver Wire?

New York Mets starting pitcher Christian Scott had a brutal season debut last Thursday and was optioned back to Triple-A Syracuse last Friday. The 26-year-old righty still has a high ceiling, though, and his potential is high enough to keep him on the radar in deep leagues or leagues that make it easy to stash players in the minors. He issued five walks and hit a batter while lasting just 1 1/3 innings in his start against the Twins, exiting with a 6.75 ERA and 15.13 FIP in his only MLB outing of the year. He was 0-2 in his three minor-league starts with a 5.27 ERA, but he continues to showcase strikeout upside with 17 strikeouts in 13 2/3 innings. He has good stuff but his control still needs to be refined. Scott has a high ceiling and could be worth stashing, but the former top prospect is best left for deep leagues until he gets another chance to contribute.

Christian Scott to Join Mets, Will Start on Thursday

New York Mets right-handed pitcher Christian Scott is set to join the team's starting rotation on Thursday and will face the Minnesota Twins. Scott made his MLB debut during the 2024 campaign and posted a modest 4.56 ERA with a 1.20 WHIP over his first 47 1/3 innings. He struck out just 39 hitters. Scott would then miss the entire 2025 campaign after undergoing internal brace surgery. In camp, Scott logged six innings and flashed upside, striking out eight batters, but was sent to Triple-A Syracuse to further his workload. With the top level of the minor leagues, Scott had a rough debut, allowing six earned runs, but has bounced back since, logging 10 1/3 frames with a 1.74 ERA and a 12:2 K:BB over his last two outings. As a result, Kodai Senga will have his start pushed back, but will remain in the rotation. Scott's strikeout upside makes him a viable streaming target in deeper 12+ team leagues.

Christian Scott Emerging as Sneaky Stash After Dominant Run at Triple-A

New York Mets starting pitcher Christian Scott could be on the verge of a promotion after a hot start at Triple-A. Over his last two starts, Scott has a 1.74 ERA, 0.58 WHIP, and a 12/2 K/BB ratio across 10.1 innings of work. The 26-year-old got a taste for the big leagues last season when he registered a 4.56 ERA with a 39/12 K/BB ratio across six starts with the Mets. Given the Mets' struggles, it wouldn't be shocking to see them shake things up soon. Scott has shown that he's ready for the big league level, and the Mets need to do something after a tough 7-13 start to the season. Fantasy managers seeking pitching help might want to consider stashing Scott if they have room for him on their roster.

Mets Option MJ Melendez and Christian Scott to Triple-A

The New York Mets have optioned outfielder MJ Melendez and right-handed pitcher Christian Scott to Triple-A, according to Mike Puma of The New York Post. Melendez was in Mets camp on a split contract, and it appears that he did not make the Opening Day roster. Always a below-average hitter, Melendez is coming off a particularly ugly year with the Royals in which he slashed .083/.154/.167 with -14 wRC+, a 4.6% walk rate, and a 35.4% strikeout rate across 23 games in the majors. He was 4-for-11 with a pair of homers this spring. While encouraging, that stat line came over a small sample size, and the Mets aren't going to find a spot for him in the majors yet. Meanwhile, Scott is also back in the minors after missing all of 2025 due to Tommy John surgery. He last pitched in 2024, when he split time between Triple-A and the majors. In the bigs that year, he posted a respectable 4.60 FIP with 7.42 K/9 and 2.28 BB/9. After surrendering three runs and four walks over six innings this spring, though, the Mets have decided that he needs a little more time in the minors before re-joining the big-league pitching staff.

Christian Scott Ticketed for Depth Role in New York?

New York Mets right-handed pitcher Christian Scott appears ticked for a depth role to begin the 2026 regular season. According to Will Sammon and Chad Jennings of The Athletic, Scott is projected to sit behind newly-acquired ace Freddy Peralta and the other primary starting pitchers on the roster, such as Sean Manaea, David Peterson, Kodai Senga, Nolan McLean, and Clay Holmes, leaving him a role as a middle reliever. Scott made his MLB debut during the 2024 campaign and posted a 4.56 ERA with a 1.20 WHIP across 47 1/3 innings. Earlier that season, the Florida product posted an impressive 2.76 ERA with a 0.97 WHIP across his first 42 1/3 innings at Triple-A. However, the right-hander would undergo a hybrid Tommy John operation in late 2024, which kept him on the shelf all last season. While he appears to be at full strength, Scott does not expect to hold much fantasy value to begin the 2026 campaign.

Christian Scott Expected to be Full-Go for Spring Training

New York Mets right-hander Christian Scott (elbow), who is over a year removed from Tommy John surgery and an internal-brace procedure on his right elbow, is nearing the end of his rehab process this year and is expected to be a full-go in spring training next year, according to Will Sammon of The Athletic. The 26-year-old was scheduled to throw his final live bullpen session on Tuesday. He said the plan is to move to a "de-load" period before he ramps his throwing back up in January. Scott, who was the team's top pitching prospect in 2024, will be in the team's rotation picture next year if he's healthy, but he's unlikely to be in the Opening Day rotation. He had a 4.56 ERA in his first nine MLB starts in 2024 before having surgery, and he's been tinkering with his changeup while rehabbing. Don't forget about Scott as a potential post-hype prospect in fantasy baseball.
