Mets Promoting Prospect Nick Morabito, Worth an Add Ahead of Debut?

New York Mets outfielder Nick Morabito is poised to make his MLB debut after getting a promotion on Tuesday, as the Mets designated veteran Austin Slater for assignment. Morabito will join an exciting young outfield in New York with rookies Carson Benge and A.J. Ewing already in the mix. While Ewing and Benge are lefties, Morabito is a right-handed hitter, which could help him earn playing time. Just a few weeks after his 23rd birthday, Morabito should bring instant speed potential after swiping 49 bases in 118 games in Double-A last season and adding 14 stolen bases in 41 games in Triple-A this year. He hit .253 in Syracuse with a .350 wOBA and four homers, but his primary fantasy asset initially will be his stolen base upside as he works his way into the Mets lineup. If you need stolen bases from the waiver wire, Morabito is a nice speculative grab in deep leagues.

Nick Morabito Lands on Seven-Day Injured List

New York Mets outfield prospect Nick Morabito (undisclosed) was placed on the seven-day injured list on Wednesday while at Double-A Binghamton. There was no indication as to what the nature of the injury was, but the Mets' 15th-ranked prospect was pulled from a game back on July 18 and has not played in a game since. The 22-year-old was slashing .288/.360/.420 with four home runs and 33 stolen bases in 80 games for the Rumble Ponies. He was building on a strong 2024 that saw him hit .312 with four home runs and 59 steals between Single-A and High-A. He's a contact over power hitter and owns a strong .299/389/.401 slash line during his minor-league career, but speed is probably his best tool. Hopefully the injury is not serious and the right-handed slugger can finish out the season on a roll, giving him a shot to head to Triple-A in 2026 with a potential MLB debut later in the year.

Nick Morabito Swipes 38th Bag At High-A

New York Mets outfield prospect Nick Morabito continued to show his elite speed on Thursday evening as he stole his 37th and 38th bags since joining High-A. Morabito opened the season at Single-A, where he swiped 11 bags across a 24-game stint, bringing him to a current season total of 49 bags. In the batter's box, the 21-year-old has looked just as comfortable holding an overall .314/.407/.393 line through both levels. Since July 26, the 2022 draft pick has been riding a stellar .370 AVG. Morabito is ranked as the 23rd-best prospect in the Mets system on MLB.com and remains a handful of seasons away from his major league debut.
