Edward Cabrera to Return on Tuesday

Miami Marlins right-hander Edward Cabrera (elbow) will return from the 15-day injured list to start on Tuesday against the Philadelphia Phillies, manager Clayton McCullough announced. Cabrera has been shelved for all of September with a sprained elbow, but he'll take the ball at least one more time before the season ends. The 27-year-old has made a career-high 24 starts this season and gone 7-7 with a 3.57 ERA, a 1.21 WHIP, and 140:42 K:BB in 128 2/3 innings. Cabrera faced the Phillies on June 19 and surrendered a mere one run on two hits in 6 1/3 frames, but he didn't factor into the decision in a Marlins loss.

Edward Cabrera Heading to Injured List With Elbow Sprain

Miami Marlins right-hander Edward Cabrera (elbow) is heading to the 15-day injured list on Monday with a right-elbow sprain, according to Christina De Nicola of MLB.com. It could help explain why Cabrera struggled in his most recent start, when he allowed six runs (five earned) in four innings over the New York Mets on Saturday. The 27-year-old right-hander will miss at least the next two weeks, and given the nature of his injury, fantasy managers cannot expect him to return for the season's final month. He could also require surgery, which might put his availability up in the air for the start of 2026. The Dominican hurler has been solid for the Fish in 2025, going 7-7 with a 3.57 ERA and 1.21 WHIP with 140 strikeouts in 128 2/3 innings over 24 starts. Cabrera's 7.7% walk rate has been a career low.

Edward Cabrera Punches Out 11 in Victory

Miami Marlins right-hander Edward Cabrera (6-5) dominated the Atlanta Braves in a 5-1 win on Friday to collect his sixth win of the season. Cabrera punched out 11 Braves over eight innings of one-run ball while allowing just two hits and a walk on 109 pitches (74 strikes). The 27-year-old has now given up one earned run or fewer in four straight starts and has done it an impressive 10 times in 20 tries this season. Across a career-high 108 frames in 2025, Cabrera has notched a 3.08 ERA with a 1.13 WHIP, 114 strikeouts, and 35 walks. He's scheduled to get the ball again Thursday in a road meeting with the Cleveland Guardians.

Yankees Discussing Sandy Alcantara, Edward Cabrera

The New York Yankees have had dialogue with the Miami Marlins about both right-handers Sandy Alcantara and Edward Cabrera, sources tell MLB Network's Jon Morosi. The Marlins have asked for outfielder Spencer Jones, who is currently sporting a 1.115 OPS at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, but a couple different concepts have been discussed. Jones is New York's No. 4 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and has some of the most high-end power upside that the minors have to offer. However, the Yankees are still looking for help for their starting rotation despite the impending return of right-hander Luis Gil (lat) this weekend. Clarke Schmidt and Gerrit Cole are done for the season with injuries. Alcantara is the more attractive upside piece long term, but the 29-year-old Dominican has been inconsistent in 2025 with a 6.36 ERA and 1.42 WHIP in his first season back from Tommy John surgery.

Edward Cabrera Won't Face Restrictions on Tuesday

The Miami Marlins believe that right-hander Edward Cabrera (elbow) is well-rested and ready to go for his start on Tuesday against the visiting San Diego Padres, and no restrictions will be placed on him as far as pitch count or inning limit, per Kevin Barral of Fish on First. Cabrera was pulled from his final start of the first half of the season on July 11 against the Baltimore Orioles due to elbow discomfort, but tests didn't reveal anything alarming, and the 27-year-old appears ready to go after resting up during the All-Star break last week. Before his last start against Baltimore, he hadn't given up more than two runs in 11 straight starts. The Dominican hurler enters the second half with a 3.61 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 86 K's in 82 1/3 innings over his 16 starts. Don't be afraid to roll with him against a Padres offense that has had its share of struggles in 2025.

Edward Cabrera to Start on Tuesday Against Padres

MLB.com's Christina De Nicola reports that Miami Marlins right-hander Edward Cabrera (elbow) will make his next start on Tuesday versus the visiting San Diego Padres. Right-hander Eury Perez will get the ball for the series opener on Monday, while right-hander Sandy Alcantara will start in the series finale on Wednesday. Cabrera was pulled from his final start of the first half of the season last Friday with elbow discomfort after going four innings. Thankfully, the 27-year-old doesn't have any structural damage in his arm and will take his next turn in the rotation following the All-Star break. The Dominican hurler enters the second half with a 3.61 ERA and 1.26 WHIP with 86 strikeouts in 82 1/3 innings over his 16 starts for the Fish. Cabrera will be a bit more risky than normal on Tuesday, but he'll also be facing a Padres offense that ranks only 23rd in team OPS (.690) this year.

Edward Cabrera Not Expected to Miss His Next Start

Miami Marlins manager Clayton McCullough is "optimistic" that starting pitcher Edward Cabrera (elbow) will be back in the rotation after the All-Star break, according to Mike Cugno of CBS Miami. The 27-year-old right-hander left his final start before the break on July 11 against the Baltimore Orioles after four innings due to elbow discomfort, but imaging on the elbow came back clean. Cabrera has had a solid season to this point, posting a 3-4 record with a 3.61 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and 86 strikeouts in 82 1/3 innings (16 starts). Walks have historically been an issue for Cabrera, but he's logged a manageable 8.6% BB rate so far. He's been talked about as a potential trade deadline target for contending teams, so he could find himself in a more favorable situation for wins down the stretch of the season.

Edward Cabrera Hopeful to Avoid Injured List

Miami Marlins starting pitcher Edward Cabrera (elbow) appears to have avoided any major injuries. The MRI on Cabrera came back clean, so there's no structural damage done to his elbow. The right-hander was forced to make an early exit from Friday's start. The organization is hopeful that Cabrera is able to avoid a trip to the injured list. Luckily, Cabrera will get an extended week off with the All-Star break beginning on Monday. The Marlins will likely wait and see how Cabrera feels after a few days before making any further decisions.

Edward Cabrera Dealing with Posterior Elbow Discomfort

Miami Marlins right-hander Edward Cabrera (elbow) exited a 5-2 loss to the Baltimore Orioles on Friday with posterior elbow discomfort. While elbow injuries are alarming for pitchers, Cabrera said through an interpreter after the game that he is dealing with "fatigue, but nothing major." He fell to 3-4 on Friday after giving up four earned runs on eight hits with six strikeouts and no walks over four innings. The 27-year-old could be in for a career-best campaign if he's able to stay healthy during the second half of the season. Cabrera owns a 3.61 ERA with 86 strikeouts and 30 walks in 82 1/3 innings. Assuming Cabrera isn't battling a significant injury, he'll be a name to watch around the July 31 trade deadline.

Edward Cabrera Exits Early on Friday

Miami Marlins starting pitcher Edward Cabrera (undisclosed) was forced to make an early exit from Friday's outing against the Baltimore Orioles. Oh no, this isn't what anyone wants to hear with Cabrera drawing significant interest ahead of the trade deadline. It's unclear what is wrong with Cabrera, but he was seen walking into the tunnel with the trainer following his fourth inning of work. Fantasy managers will have to wait until after the game for a better update on his status. Tyler Phillips took over on the mound in the fifth inning. Cabrera finishes this outing with four innings of work, four earned runs on eight hits while striking out six batters. Fantasy managers should stay tuned for another update on his status.
