Erik Miller Reinstated From 15-Day Injured List

San Francisco Giants left-handed reliever Erik Miller (back) was reinstated from the 15-day injured list on Saturday. He returned from his rehab assignment and is officially back on the major league roster. He'll be welcomed back with open arms, as he had posted a stellar 1.69 FIP with 13.50 K/9, 4.76 BB/9, 0.00 HR/9, and a 56% ground ball rate prior to his injury. He also projects to be in the mix for the closer role. The Giants have used a committee approach to identify their closer this year, but it's worth noting that Miller had two saves before landing on the IL. We expect to see Miller start to handle some of the high-leverage opportunities that previously belonged to Caleb Kilian (two saves) and Keaton Winn (zero saves).

Erik Miller Set to Return to Giants Bullpen on Saturday

San Francisco Giants left-handed reliever Erik Miller's (back) minor-league rehab appearance on Wednesday night went well, and he will be activated from the 15-day injured list when he's eligible to return on Saturday, according to Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports. Right-hander Caleb Kilian has emerged as the favorite for saves in San Fran of late and has a 1.40 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, two saves, and 19 strikeouts in his 19 1/3 innings pitched so far in 2026, but Miller could also be given some opportunities to earn saves for the Giants now that he's close to rejoining the major-league roster. Before going on the IL with a back ailment, Miller had allowed four earned runs on eight hits while walking six, striking out 17, and picking up his first two career saves in 12 relief appearances. The 28-year-old southpaw threw two scoreless innings with three punchouts in his two rehab outings with Triple-A Sacramento. Fantasy managers scrounging for saves in deeper leagues should consider picking Miller up this weekend. He's currently rostered in only 5% of Yahoo leagues.

Erik Miller a Top Stash Option for Saves Off the Waiver Wire?

San Francisco Giants left-hander Erik Miller (back) is currently on the 15-day injured list as he works his way back from a back injury. However, the 28-year-old made his second rehab appearance on Wednesday and appears to be on the verge of rejoining the Giants. Miller was off to a strong start before getting injured, pitching to a 3.18 ERA and 1.24 WHIP with 17 strikeouts and two saves across 11 1/3 innings. The closer situation in San Francisco has been unsettled all year long, and the team recently demoted former closer Ryan Walker to Triple-A. Miller has flashed dominant high-leverage upside and owns a 35.4% strikeout rate so far this season. Upon his return to the big leagues, Miller could emerge as the primary closer in San Francisco. In deeper leagues where he's not already rostered, Miller deserves a look on the waiver wire from fantasy managers.

Erik Miller Moved to the 60-Day Injured List

The San Francisco Giants transferred left-hander Erik Miller (elbow) to the 60-day injured list on Thursday. Miller, who has been sidelined with a left elbow strain, suffered a setback on his rehab assignment last week. The 27-year-old is eligible to come off the injured list in September. However, he will not be throwing for the next few weeks, with his season likely being over. Miller did pitch well over 36 outings this year from the bullpen, posting a (4-1) record with a 1.50 ERA and 1.47 WHIP, and a strand rate of 89.4%

Erik Miller Shut Down With Elbow Inflammation

San Francisco Giants reliever Erik Miller (elbow) has been diagnosed with inflammation in his left elbow after undergoing an MRI. The southpaw will take two weeks off from throwing before the Giants re-evaluate him, according to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle. Miller has already been out for a month and a half since going on the 15-day injured list on July 3 with a sprained elbow, and he had been rehabbing in the minors until suffering this setback last Friday. With the clock ticking on the Giants' season, it's now fair to wonder if Miller will pitch again in 2025. Despite totaling almost as many walks (20) as strikeouts (22), the 27-year-old has recorded a minuscule 1.50 ERA in 30 innings this season.

Erik Miller Headed for MRI on Elbow

San Francisco Giants relief pitcher Erik Miller (elbow) felt something in his elbow during a rehab outing on Friday and is headed for an MRI, Justice delos Santos of The San Jose Mercury News reports. This isn't good news at all for the lefty, who has been on the injured list since the beginning of July due to an elbow sprain. It seems that the injury wasn't fully healed or he re-injured it in the early going of his rehab assignment, and a setback at this stage could jeopardize his ability to return this season. The 27-year-old was solid when healthy, posting a 1.50 ERA through 30 innings this season.

Erik Miller has Mixed Results in First Rehab Appearance

San Francisco Giants reliever Erik Miller (elbow) made his first appearance in a rehab game on Friday, appearing in the fifth inning for Triple-A Sacramento. He labored through one-third of an inning and 24 pitches, surrendering three hits and one earned run. The good news is that he was able to throw all four of his pitches and generated three whiffs in the process. He will likely need at least one more appearance with some improved results before returning to the Giants' bullpen later this month. Over 36 appearances this season, the 27-year-old left-handed reliever has posted an impressive 1.50 ERA, albeit with a 15.6% walk rate. Miller has been on the shelf since July 5 and is seemingly on pace to return to the Giants within the next week if all goes well.

Erik Miller to Begin Triple-A Rehab Assignment on Friday

San Francisco Giants left-handed reliever Erik Miller (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Sacramento on Friday. Miller has been out for just over a month with a sprained left elbow, though he could come back sometime in August if he doesn't suffer any setbacks. The 27-year-old has recorded a minuscule 1.50 ERA with 10 holds across 36 appearances and 30 innings this season. However, his success in preventing runs has come despite a lackluster 22:20 K:BB. With a 4.38 xERA, a 3.95 FIP, and a 5.10 xFIP, Miler is likely to face negative regression when he comes back this season.

Erik Miller To Miss At Least Five Weeks With Mild UCL Sprain

San Francisco Giants relief pitcher Erik Miller (elbow) said Monday that he had been dealing with forearm tightness for the last few weeks before going on the 15-day injury list on Saturday, per San Francisco Chronicle's Shayna Rubin. He had an MRI done that revealed a mild UCL sprain in his pitching arm. While the 27-year-old stated that he isn't worried about his injury, the most optimistic timeline given for his recovery was five weeks. Miller had been a viable fantasy option in saves-plus-holds leagues, going 4-1 with 10 holds and a 1.50 ERA in 30 IP. However, walks had been a significant issue for him, with a 15.6% walk rate, and his 17.2% strikeout rate was notably lower than his career mark of 26.5%.

Erik Miller Placed on 15-Day Injured List

The San Francisco Giants have placed reliever Erik Miller (elbow) on the 15-day injured list with a strained left elbow, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. The team selected fellow southpaw Scott Alexander from Triple-A Sacramento to take Miller's roster spot. Miller has recorded a superb 1.50 ERA and totaled 10 holds over 30 innings, but he has succeeded despite poor strikeout and walk rates. With just 22 strikeouts against 20 walks, metrics such as FIP (3.92), xERA (4.33), and xFIP (5.05) suggest Miller is in for negative regression when he returns. Alexander, meanwhile, is set for his second stint with the Giants after pitching out of their bullpen from 2022-23. He spent last year with Oakland and the beginning of this season with Colorado. The Rockies released the 35-year-old in late May after he turned in 16 1/3 innings of 6.06 ERA with six strikeouts and seven walks. Alexander rejoined the Giants on a minor-league contract in early June.
