Ranger Suarez "Makes a Lot of Sense" for the Mets

Buster Olney of ESPN.com reports that it "seems inevitable" that either starting pitchers Ranger Suarez or Framber Valdez will sign with the New York Mets, given their current rotation. Olney noted that Suarez "makes a lot of sense" in New York, given that he has already pitched for a big-market team during his career. Before entering free agency, the southpaw has spent his entire eight-year MLB career with the Phillies. Last summer, Suarez turned in a strong campaign, logging 157 1/3 innings to the tune of a 3.20 ERA with a 1.22 WHIP. He generated a stellar 3.16 xERA with a 5.5% barrel rate and a 31.1% hard-hit rate, placing him in the 84th percentile or higher. However, his strikeout production remained pedestrian as he only tallied 151 during the campaign. If Suarez were to sign with the Mets, he should slide in near the top of the rotation and hold high-floor SP3 value in standard leagues.

Orioles Interested in Signing Ranger Suarez

The Baltimore Orioles are among the teams interested in signing free-agent left-hander Ranger Suarez, according to the New York Post's Jon Heyman. Suarez doesn't light up the radar gun, but his terrific postseason pedigree has many teams looking his way on the open market. The 30-year-old southpaw rejected the Philadelphia Phillies' one-year, $22.025 qualifying offer, so Philly will receive draft-pick compensation if he signs with another team for 2026 and beyond. He went 12-8 with a 3.20 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, 151 strikeouts, and 38 walks in 157 1/3 innings over 26 regular-season starts in 2025 in his eighth big-league season with the Phils. Since Suarez's first full year in the majors in 2021, he has posted a solid 3.25 ERA with a below-average 22.5% strikeout rate and 7.5% walk rate. A move to Baltimore and the tough American League East would put Suarez in yet another tough pitching environment.

At Least Three Teams Interested in Ranger Suarez

Although free-agent left-hander Ranger Suarez certainly isn't the most experienced starting pitcher on the open market this offseason, he is going to draw plenty of interest. MLB.com's Mark Feinsand reports that the Houston Astros, Chicago Cubs, and Baltimore Orioles are the most serious threats to sign Suarez away from the Philadelphia Phillies. The New York Mets and Detroit Tigers are also in the mix. The Phillies aren't closing the door on a reunion, especially when considering the uncertain health situation with right-hander Zack Wheeler, but the likely scenario is that Suarez moves on. The 30-year-old southpaw topped the 150-inning mark in 2025 (career-high 157 1/3 frames) for only the third time in his career. Where he's especially attractive to interested teams is his postseason resume -- 4-1 with a 1.48 ERA in 11 appearances (eight starts). Despite not lighting up the radar gun, Suarez has been effective, posting a 3.25 ERA since the start of 2021.

Ranger Suarez Exits Early With Thigh Contusion in Loss

Philadelphia Phillies left-hander Ranger Suarez (thigh) exited a 5-0 loss to the Minnesota Twins on Saturday with an inner-thigh contusion on his left leg. Suarez departed in the fifth inning after Twins catcher Ryan Jeffers struck him with a 106 mph line drive, but there's no concern that he'll miss any postseason action. The Phillies have locked up the No. 2 seed in the National League, meaning they're off until the NLDS begins on Oct. 4. Suarez could pitch Game 2 on Oct. 6, when he'll look to bounce back from a rough outing on Saturday. He allowed three earned runs on nine hits with four strikeouts and no walks in 4 1/3 innings. The 30-year-old still enjoyed arguably his best regular season as a full-time starter. Over 157 1/3 frames, Suarez went 12-8 with a 3.20 ERA, a 1.22 WHIP, 151 strikeouts, and 38 walks.

Ranger Suarez Earns 11th Win of the Season

Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Ranger Suarez picked up his 11th win of the season in his team's 2-0 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday. Suarez pitched six scoreless innings, striking out four while allowing six hits and two walks. In 137 innings (22 starts) this season, Suarez has pitched to a 2.89 ERA and 1.18 WHIP with 128 strikeouts. The 30-year-old lefty does not dominate with strikeouts, but he limits walks (5.6% BB rate entering Thursday) and home runs (0.69 HR/9). Suarez is a must-start pitcher in fantasy as long as he remains healthy the rest of the way.

Ranger Suarez Strikes Out 11 in Win

Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Ranger Suarez was dominant in Sunday's 3-2 win against the Nationals, tossing seven shutout innings while striking out 11. He only allowed three hits and walked one, and the victory brings his win total to 10 on the season. This was the second straight start in which he achieved double-digit strikeouts, and this outing in particular marked his career high in the stat. After having a breakout year in 2024, the lefty has been even better in 2025, posting a 3.07 ERA and 1.13 WHIP in 126 innings. His next start is scheduled to be on Friday against the division rival Braves.

Ranger Suarez Tosses Seven Strong Innings in Win

Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Ranger Suarez earned his seventh win of the season in a 2-1 victory over the Braves on Sunday. He allowed one run on four hits and one walk while striking out eight over seven innings. This was his fifth consecutive start of at least seven innings pitched with two earned runs or fewer. The 29-year-old was one of the best pitchers in baseball during the first half of 2024 before falling off later in the season, but it looks like he has returned to that elite form here in 2025. After allowing seven earned runs in his first start of the season on May 4, he's allowed only nine runs in his ten starts since. The lefty will carry a 2.00 ERA into his next start, currently set to be against the Reds.

Ranger Suarez Shines Despite Phillies’ Offensive Struggles in Loss

Philadelphia Phillies left-handed pitcher Ranger Suarez (6-2) had a strong outing in Tuesday's 1-0 loss to the Houston Astros. He pitched seven and 2/3 innings, allowing one run on four hits and two walks while striking out seven. Suarez took his second loss of the season on a night when the Phillies recorded just four hits. The 29-year-old is pitching to an elite 2.08 ERA in his eighth professional season. He owns a solid 1.03 WHIP with 59 strikeouts in 65 innings. Suarez ranks in the 99th percentile at limiting hard contact with a 27.8 hard-hit percentage. If he continues pitching deep into games for a contending Phillies team, Suarez can expect to rack up a lot of wins.

Ranger Suarez Dominant in Victory

Philadelphia Phillies left-hander Ranger Suarez turned in another marvelous performance in a 4-2 win over the Miami Marlins on Wednesday. Suarez allowed just one run on four hits over seven innings to improve to 6-1. He struck out eight and walked two in his eighth straight quality start. The 29-year-old missed the first month of the season with a back injury, but he has been among the majors' premier starters since returning. Suarez has registered a 2.20 ERA with 52 strikeouts, 14 walks, and a 54% ground-ball rate across 57 1/3 innings. He's slated to face the Houston Astros on Tuesday.
