Justyn-Henry Malloy News
The Detroit Tigers have sent third baseman/outfielder Justyn-Henry Malloy back to Triple-A Toledo after the 24-year-old slashed .217/.304/.394 in 204 plate appearances for the Tigers. With Riley Greene coming off the injured list on Sunday, Malloy didn't have an everyday spot with the team, and sending him back to the minors where he will get more at-bats makes sense. Malloy showed promise, knocking eight homers and walking at a 10.3% clip, but he also struck out at a 36.3% rate and wasn't able to hit for any type of average. Perhaps some seasoning in the minors will make for a breakout 2025 season, but he certainly can be dropped in all redraft leagues now.

Justyn-Henry Malloy Hitting Third Against Yankees
Detroit Tigers rookie outfielder Justyn-Henry Malloy is starting in left field and is hitting third for the Tigers on Saturday against the New York Yankees and left-hander Carlos Rodon at Comerica Park. Malloy hasn't been able to get comfortable in any one lineup spot for the Tigers of late, as he hit sixth in the series-opening loss on Friday night and has also hit leadoff a few times in the last week. The 24-year-old will be in a much more favorable spot on Saturday than he was the day before, but it won't be an easy matchup against Rodon. The former sixth-rounder of the Atlanta Braves in 2021 is hitting just .216 (38-for-176) on the year with eight home runs and 20 RBI. However, he's gone 11-for-30 (.367) with two of his eight long balls in 2024 against southpaws. Malloy will be a DFS sleeper on Saturday.

Dillon Dingler, Justyn-Henry Malloy Sitting For Tigers
Detroit Tigers rookie catcher Dillon Dingler and outfielder Justyn-Henry Malloy are both out of the starting lineup again on Wednesday against the visiting Seattle Mariners at Comerica Park. It's hard for the Tigers to leave Jake Rogers out of the lineup after he hit a grand slam and drove in seven runs in the lopsided victory over Seattle on Tuesday. Dingler and Rogers have been splitting the catching duties evenly since the Tigers promoted Dingler from the minors, with the young backstop going 5-for-24 (.208) with a homer, three doubles and four RBI. Henry-Malloy's playing time figures to suffer with Kerry Carpenter back from the injured list. Carpenter hit two home runs in his return from a back injury on Tuesday and is serving as the designated hitter again while batting second versus Mariners right-hander Bryan Woo.

Justyn-Henry Malloy Homers On Sunday
Detroit Tigers outfielder Justyn-Henry Malloy had a nice game on Sunday, going 2-for-3 with a homer and two RBI in a 7-6 win over the Los Angeles Angels. Malloy smacked a two-run shot in the fourth inning to add some insurance to the Tigers lead, and they would need every run they got in this one. While Malloy has had some bright spots in his rookie season, the 24-year-old has had trouble adjusting to the majors overall and is slashing just .175/.274/.349 with three homers in 63 at-bats. He will need to show a lot more before becoming fantasy-relevant.

Justyn-Henry Malloy Smokes Pair Of Extra-Base Hits
Detroit Tigers outfielder Justyn-Henry Malloy went 2-for-3 with a homer and a double in Thursday's 7-2 win over the Washington Nationals. He had a run scored and three RBI on the day. Malloy hit a tiebreaking homer in the sixth inning and then broke the game open with a two-run double in the seventh. The 24-year-old has gotten off to a decent start to his big league career, knocking out a pair of homers and hitting to an .888 OPS in eight games. Malloy remains a deep league option for now, but keeping an eye on him would be smart.

Justyn-Henry Malloy Hits First Homer
Detroit Tigers outfield prospect Justyn-Henry Malloy went 2-for-3 with a solo home run to provide the only offense for his team in Wednesday's blowout loss versus the Texas Rangers. Malloy's homer would be the first of his big-league career. The 24-year-old was promoted on Monday and was hitless in his first seven at-bats before Wednesday's breakout performance. Malloy should continue to get regular playing with Kerry Carpenter (back) sidelined with no official return date. Malloy has a very strong eye at the plate, and that usually helps prospects as they transition to the big leagues. Malloy should be rostered in dynasty leagues and is worth a look in deeper redraft leagues as well.

Justyn-Henry Malloy Hitless In MLB Debut
Recently called-up Detroit Tigers prospect Justyn-Henry Malloy went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in Monday's 2-1 win over the Rangers. Malloy started at DH and hit sixth, but Tigers hitters were unable to get much going against Nathan Eovaldi and the Rangers relievers, totaling just four hits in all with two Jake Rogers solo home runs being all Detroit needed in this one. The 24-year-old will presumably get another shot to collect his first MLB hit on Tuesday against RHP Dane Dunning who has a 3.94 ERA and 1.20 WHIP on the season.

Justyn-Henry Malloy Getting Called Up
Detroit Tigers third baseman/outfielder Justyn-Henry Malloy is expected to be called up on Monday. The 24-year-old is one of the top prospects in the Tigers farm system. This season, Malloy is hitting .255/.412/.477 with six home runs and 27 RBI in 44 games in Triple-A. The former sixth-round pick appears ready for the big leagues after having success in Triple-A over the last few seasons. Fantasy managers don't need to be jumping at the waiver wire in re-draft formats. This is good news for the Tigers roster but it remains to be seen what Malloy will contribute in fantasy baseball.

Justyn-Henry Malloy Doing Well In Triple-A
Detroit Tigers outfield prospect Justyn-Henry Malloy has been putting together another good season for Triple-A Toledo. Malloy has hit .269 with five homers and 25 RBI over his first 134 at-bats. He has also drawn 37 walks. Malloy is the club's No. 6 prospect and has had plenty of hype in fantasy circles since his breakout season of 2023 for Toledo. The 24-year-old led all of minor league baseball in 2023 with 110 walks and also showed his power with 23 homers and 83 RBI to lead his team. Malloy has shown some of the best plate discipline of any prospect and that continues to be a big part of his game. Malloy's biggest flaw has been that the Tigers have yet to find a position for him to get everyday at-bats at the big-league level. Malloy has the makings of a fantasy contributor with his ability to get on-base at a high clip and avoid strikeouts, but may need an injury at the big-league level to get his chance.

Justyn-Henry Malloy Vying For One Of Final Roster Spots
Detroit Tigers outfielder Justyn-Henry Malloy gives the team the most offensive potential for the final bench spot to open the 2024 regular season, as he had a .417 on-base percentage at Triple-A Toledo last year. He's now focusing exclusively on playing outfield rather than spending time at third base, which could severely hurt his chances of making the Opening Day roster. The Tigers will also look closely at right-handed infielders with versatility, including Keston Hiura, Ryan Kreidler and Eddys Leonard. Andre Lipcius and Wenceel Perez can't be ruled out, either. Malloy is going to need to prove he can hit well enough to warrant significant time in the designated hitter spot. But Detroit will want to rotated DH bats with Kerry Carpenter and Mark Canha also on the roster.
