Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Sal Romano said he has lost almost 15 pounds since the season ended. I was always 270 (pounds), creeping up a little bit, Romano said. I just wanted to see how my body reacts. Im going to see how I feel when I do start throwing and see how my arm responds, my body responds. If I need to put a little bit more weight on, Ill do that. But I really was determined to lose some weight this offseason." The right-hander had a 5.31 ERA in 39 outings (25 starts) for the Reds last year and will compete for a rotation spot in spring training. You can avoid him in mixed leagues.
Cincinnati Reds pitcher Sal Romano could start on Sunday against the Pirates in the regular season finale if he's not used in relief on Friday. Romano had a few decent starts here and there in 2018, but he was too erratic mostly for those to rely on him in mixed leagues. The right-hander is 8-11 with a 5.36 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and mediocre 6.7 K/9 over 37 outings (24 starts). He also hasn't started a game since Aug. 21, making him more unattractive if he gets the nod on Sunday.
Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Sal Romano lasted just 1 2/3 innings in Tuesday's 8-1 loss to the Indians. Romano surrendered six runs on seven hits with two walks and one strikeout. The 24-year-old has had some bright spots this season but is now 7-10 with a 5.31 ERA in 123 2/3 IP. Things will not get easier for him in his next start Tuesday at the Brewers.
