Ronny Rodríguez News
Detroit Tigers infielder Ronny Rodriguez, after sitting Tuesday's game and Wednesday's postponement, is playing second base and batting cleanup in the first game of a doubleheader against the New York Yankees Thursday. Rodriguez has some pop but is an overall quite bad MLB hitter with a .220/.248/.451 slash line this season. He is not a DFS play to chase against Yankee starter J.A. Happ, who appears to be turning his season around with 12 1/3 scoreless innings in two starts against Oakland and Boston so far this September.
Detroit Tigers second baseman Josh Harrison (hamstring) and shortstop Ronny Rodriguez are not in the starting lineup on Tuesday. Niko Goodrum is starting at the keystone and is hitting leadoff, while Gordon Beckham is at the 6 and batting seventh against Orioles starting pitcher Dylan Bundy. Harrison should be considered day-to-day after tweaking his hamstring on Monday, while Rodriguez has cooled off considerably after a hot start and could start losing playing time to Beckham. Goodrum has hit just .207 (35-for-169) on the year with three homers, 13 RBI and four steals, so he's a deep sleeper in DFS out of the leadoff spot.
Detroit Tigers infielder Ronny Rodriguez has been a hit machine since his call-up on April 14, putting together a robust .340/.379/1.096 batting line with three home runs and a steal. Rodriguez added to his strong start on Wednesday with three hits, four RBI, and a run scored while batting fifth in the lineup. He's owned in just 9% of all fantasy leagues, and even though this stretch is beyond what can be expected from Rodriguez over the course of a full season, he's still worth scooping up and riding the hot streak if you're managing a team with injuries or slumping infielders.
