Tony Gonsolin News
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Tony Gonsolin (elbow) is set to make his second rehab start for Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday. Gonsolin pitched two scoreless innings in his first rehab start on Tuesday while allowing just two hits and striking out three batters. The 30-year-old has yet to pitch in 2024 as he recovers from Tommy John surgery. The progress in his rehab assignment gives a slight chance that Gonsolin could pitch in the Dodgers' postseason run, but the likelihood is still minimal given the stakes of the postseason. At best Gonsolin could be used as a bullpen arm instead of a starter in October. Fantasy managers in dynasty leagues will still want to hold onto Gonsolin but any managers that hoped for and needed the righty to return in 2024 can cut bait. Those looking for immediate help can look to Landon Knack, who has posted a 3.00 ERA in 54 IP coming into Friday night.

Dodgers Place Tony Gonsolin On 60-Day Injured List
The Los Angeles Dodgers placed right-hander Tony Gonsolin (elbow) on the 60-day injured list on Friday to make room on the active roster for the signing of left-hander Clayton Kershaw (shoulder), who will soon enough join Gonsolin on the 60-day IL. The 29-year-old Gonsolin will miss all of the 2024 season while recovering from Tommy John surgery, so he will be completely off the fantasy radar in single-year leagues. An ankle sprain caused Gonsolin to get a late start to the 2023 campaign, and he ended up making only 20 starts, going 8-5 with a career-worst 4.98 ERA (5.43 FIP) and 1.22 WHIP while walking 40 and striking out 82 in 103 innings. It was a big disappointment after he was a first-time All-Star in 2022 and a Cy Young candidate after winning 16 games.

Tony Gonsolin To Have Tommy John Surgery
The Los Angeles Dodgers announced on Monday that right-hander Tony Gonsolin (elbow) will have Tommy John surgery on Friday. No timetable has been given for his return, but it's now unlikely that he'll pitch at all in 2024. Fantasy managers already knew that Gonsolin wasn't going to pitch again for the Dodgers this year after they moved him to the 60-day injured list, and elbow reconstruction was always a strong possibility. The 29-year-old was a first-time All-Star in 2022, when he went 16-1 with a 2.14 ERA and 0.87 WHIP in 24 starts, but he came back to Earth in 2023, posting a career-worst 4.98 ERA (5.45 FIP), 1.22 WHIP, 40 walks and 82 strikeouts in 103 innings over 20 starts for the Blue.

Tony Gonsolin Moved To 60-Day Injured List
The Los Angeles Dodgers moved right-hander Tony Gonsolin (forearm) to the 60-day injured list on Sunday and claimed pitcher Tyson Miller off waivers from the New York Mets in a corresponding move. Gonsolin will officially missed the rest of the 2023 season unless the Dodgers make a deep postseason run. Even then, the 29-year-old probably won't make a return and could need surgery on his right arm after undergoing an MRI exam over the weekend. Depending on what kind of surgery Gonsolin might need, most, if not all, of his 2024 season could be compromised as well. It was a tough year for him, going 8-5 with a career-worst 4.98 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 82 strikeouts in 103 innings over 20 starts for LA.

Tony Gonsolin Underwent An MRI, Could Need Surgery
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Tony Gonsolin (forearm) had an MRI on his forearm and could require surgery, according to manager Dave Roberts. Roberts also told reporters that the potential surgery could affect Gonsolin's availability for 2024. The Dodgers placed the 29-year-old hurler on the 15-day injured list back on August 19 and stated that he would not pitch again for the rest of the season. This is a bit of a murky situation and it's starting to sound like Gonsolin could miss a portion of 2024. The Dodgers would provide more information again before the regular season comes to a close.

Tony Gonsolin Could Need Surgery
Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Tony Gonsolin (forearm) had an MRI exam and could need surgery. A final decision has yet to be made, though, but it could impact his availability for the start of next season, according to manager Dave Roberts. The 29-year-old is not expected back again this year after he was place don the injured list on Aug. 19, especially if he has to go under the knife. He made the All-Star team for the first time in his career in 2022, when he went 16-1 with an excellent 2.14 ERA and 0.87 WHIP in 24 starts. However, he has posted a career-worst 4.98 ERA (5.44 FIP), 1.22 WHIP, 40 walks and 82 strikeouts in 103 innings over his 20 starts this season. Fantasy managers in single-year leagues should have already dumped Gonsolin.

Tony Gonsolin Placed On The 15-Day IL, Likely Done For The Season
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Tony Gonsolin (elbow) was placed on the 15-day injured list and is likely done for the season, according to manager Dave Roberts. Gonsolin was shelled by the Marlins on Friday for 10 earned runs and later told reporters that his elbow was bothering him. The elbow issue likely attributed to his poor performance and now it sounds like said issue could end his season. He will undergo more tests to determine the severity of the injury but Roberts did not sound optimistic about the 29-year-old pitcher. The team should provide an update on him later this week but this is another blow to a battered Dodgers' rotation. Ryan Pepiot looks to be the next man up to replace Gonsolin. He's got some fantasy appeal in deeper leagues.

Tony Gonsolin Bothered By Elbow Injury
Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Tony Gonsolin (elbow) said that his elbow has been bothering him for several weeks and it affects his stuff more than his command. He plans to talk to the coaching and the training staff about taking a step back with a stint on the injured list. It helps explain why he was blasted by the Miami Marlins on Friday night to the tune of 10 earned runs on eight hits (five homers surrendered) while walking four and striking out two in just 3 1/3 innings. The nightmare outing pushed the 29-year-old's season ERA to 4.98 in 20 starts covering 103 innings pitched. Gonsolin has been inconsistent of late on the mound, and now we know why. Fantasy managers need to prepare for an upcoming absence.

Tony Gonsolin Earns Win Despite Rough Outing
Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Tony Gonsolin struggled in a 13-7 win over the San Diego Padres on Monday. Gonsolin allowed six runs on nine hits over six innings while striking out three and walking one. Despite the poor outing, Gonsolin wound up earning the win thanks to plenty of run support from the Los Angeles lineup. Gonsolin now has a 7-4 record, 4.42 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, and 74 strikeouts in 93 2/3 innings of work this season. His next start is scheduled for Saturday against the Colorado Rockies.

Tony Gonsolin To Start On Sunday
Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Tony Gonsolin will start Sunday's game against the San Francisco Giants, according to Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic. After pitching in Tuesday's contest, manager Dave Roberts considered giving the right-hander an extra day in between starts, but he'll now be starting on regular rest. Over 46.2 innings of work, Gonsolin has pitched to a 1.93 ERA and 0.94 WHIP with four wins across nine starts but owns just an 18.9% strikeout rate. His run prevention makes him playable in all formats, but fantasy managers should expect some regression in that department moving forward.
