Vinnie Pasquantino News
Kansas City Royals first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino came into Spring Training ready to play as he put together a strong performance in Friday's opener. The 25-year-old went 2-for-2 with a huge two-run home run in the victory over the Texas Rangers. Pasquantino was a reliable bat for the Royals last season and it doesn't appear that he has lost his groove. That being said, Pasquantino has become a hot commodity in fantasy drafts. He is currently being drafted slightly outside the top-100 in early fantasy drafts. The hype appears to be real with Pasquantino, so it might be time to buy-in before it's too late.
Kansas City Royals first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino went 2-for-4 on Thursday with a run, two singles, and a walk as his club lost to the Detroit Tigers 10-3. The rookie's been a bright spot in the Royals lineup, slashing .284/.374/.441 with nine home runs, 22 runs, and 24 RBI over 66 games. Fantasy managers that picked up Pasquantino on the waiver wire should be happy with his production, and his career .292 minor league batting average proves it's sustainable.
The Kansas City Royals reinstated rookie infielder Vinnie Pasquantino (shoulder) from the 10-day injured list on Friday and optioned outfielder Brent Rooker to Triple-A Omaha in a corresponding move. Pasquantino was shelved at the end of last month with right shoulder discomfort, and he went 3-for-14 with three RBI in four minor league rehab games for Omaha. The 24-year-old left-handed hitter should return to being an everyday starter for the rebuilding Royals to close out the 2022 regular season. Before his shoulder injury, Pasquantino was slashing .263/.350/.434 with eight home runs, 15 RBI and 18 runs scored in 200 plate appearances over 49 games. Get him back into your lineups in deeper mixed leagues.

The long-awaited arrival in Kansas City of Vinnie P happened last summer, and while he didn't set the world on fire, he really did dazzle on the field with what he was able to do in the underlying metrics. His contact rate was 84.7%, which isn't all that uncommon, but it is exceedingly rare to find a guy hitting the ball as hard as Pasquantino was hitting it. His 46.9% hard-hit rate was one of the best marks in the league and he kept the ball off the ground (41% GB%) - which is something young players often struggle to do. Only the league's best hitters are able to keep an above-average barrel rate (which Pasquantino did) while making contact on more than 80% of their swings, and Vinnie did it emphatically. This all sets the bar pretty high for his second year. We know we'll get a good batting average from him, and we are pretty sure he'll hit 25+ homers if given 150+ starts. The ADP does reflect all of this goodness, as he's a top-100 pick despite the lack of a sample - but the floor and ceiling he possesses more than justify the cost.
