Randy Dobnak Strikes Out Two In Three Innings

Minnesota Twins pitcher Randy Dobnak made his second start of the Spring and tossed three innings of one-run ball in a 3-3 tie against the Blue Jays. That's back-to-back strong outings for Dobnak, who struck out four in two innings in his last time out. With the injury to Rich Hill and Michael Pineda's suspension, Dobnak could be making the Twins' decision for them in regards to their vacancy for a number-five starter.

Randy Dobnak Allows Four Runs Over Two Innings

The Yankees put a smacking on Dobnak early and the fans piled on. LeMahieu started the game off with a double and Encarnacion drove him in later that inning. The real damage came in the third inning, when Dobnak couldn't get a single out and ended up leaving the bases loaded for Tyler Duffey, who ended up giving up a Grand Slam to Didi Gregorius. Dobnak was put into a tough situation, and he performed how most of us expected. The Yankees ended up winning 8-2, and will face off Monday night in Minnesota as the Twins try to avoid a sweep.

Randy Dobnak To Start Saturday

Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Randy Dobnak will start Game 2 of the ALDS Saturday with Jake Odorizzi taking the ball in Game 3 Monday. Odorizzi was originally expected to start Game 2, but nothing was officially announced until Friday when Twins manager Rocco Baldelli confirmed the rookie will take the ball in Yankee Stadium. Dobnak pitched well across three levels sporting a 2.57 ERA in Double-A, a 2.15 ERA in Triple-A, and a 1.59 ERA in 28 1/3 Big League innings this season. Despite his success this year, pitching in the postseason will be a different test. He is not a strikeout pitcher, his highest strikeout rate at any Minor League level is 23.5 percent, and will face a potent Yankees lineup. His main appeal in DFS will be he should be the lowest owned pitcher on the slate.
