Bryce Miller Demoted to Bullpen Role for Monday's Game

Seattle Mariners right-hander Luis Castillo is set to start Monday's game against the Athletics. Bryce Miller will come out of the bullpen and follow in the piggyback role. Castillo has struggled this season, posting a 6.41 ERA, 1.55 WHIP, and 47 strikeouts across 46 1/3 innings. The 33-year-old struggled in his only relief appearance, taking the loss, while allowing two runs on a hit, two walks, and a HBP while striking out four over 2 1/3 innings against the Chicago White Sox. It's unclear how many innings Castillo will throw on Monday, but Miller has pitched well since returning from the injured list on May 13. The 27-year-old owns a 1.64 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, a 22.7K%, and a 4.5 BB% through 11 innings. Even though Miller is coming out of the bullpen, he's still worth holding onto in deep league formats, but can likely be dropped in 10-12-team leagues until he solidifies a spot in Seattle's rotation.

Bryce Miller Worth Stashing Now That He's Healthy?

Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Bryce Miller made his season debut on Wednesday night against the Houston Astros. His eight walks and three strikeouts weren't ideal, but he still delivered solid results with just one walk and two earned runs over 5.1 innings of work. Miller has never been a major strikeout threat, averaging less than one per inning throughout his career, so we aren't concerned about his control going forward. On the contrary, we're actually quite encouraged by his low walk total, which is also consistent with his career stats. He also flashed increased velocity in his first game back from a left oblique strain. His average fastball velocity was 95.0 mph in 2025, but that jumped to 97.4 mph on Wednesday. Outside of the eight hits, fantasy managers should feel very optimistic that Miller has returned to his pre-injury form, and he might even be better than before. The righty is rostered in 27% of leagues right now, so there's still time for managers to stash Miller in anticipation of a potentially big year. Currently, he ranks #82 among starters in RotoBaller's latest fantasy baseball rankings.

Mariners Intend to Piggyback Luis Castillo, Bryce Miller

Seattle Mariners starting pitchers Luis Castillo and Bryce Miller will piggyback each other after a full turn through the rotation. Miller is set to return from the Injured List on Wednesday after missing the start of the season due to an oblique issue. The Mariners plan to use a six-man rotation for one full turn through, but will shake it up after that. The Mariners don't want to disrespect Castillo, who has been a starter throughout his big league career. However, Castillo has been horrible with a 6.29 ERA through seven starts this season. The hope is that putting Castillo and Miller together will end up offering better results for both pitchers. Between the two, Miller is the more desirable fantasy option, but he won't be an ideal streaming choice if he doesn't pitch deep into games.

Bryce Miller is Set to Return on Wednesday

Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Bryce Miller (oblique) is set to return from the 15-day Injured List on Wednesday. Miller has been sidelined since the beginning of the season due to a left oblique strain. After making four rehab starts, Miller is ready to return to the big league mound. Miller is scheduled to take the ball against the Houston Astros on Wednesday. He should be worth a look as a waiver wire addition for fantasy managers seeking pitching help. The Mariners will go with a six-man rotation for now, so no one will be booted yet.

Bryce Miller Could Make Season Debut Next Week

The Seattle Mariners are leaning toward activating right-hander Bryce Miller (oblique) from the 15-day injured list on their upcoming road trip, which begins on Friday in Chicago against the White Sox, a club source told Adam Jude of The Seattle Times. Miller is scheduled to join the team in Chicago to check in with coaches and trainers. If he's cleared, the 27-year-old could rejoin Seattle's starting rotation to make his 2026 season debut in the middle of next week in Houston against the division-rival Astros. Miller threw five shutout innings on Wednesday with High-A Everett in what he hopes will be his final minor-league rehab start. "I'm ready to go," Miller said. He's been on the 15-day injured list all season to this point, but he's worth a look on the waiver wire for fantasy managers seeking rotation help. Miller is currently rostered in only 29% of Yahoo leagues and is hoping to regain his 2024 form, when he had a 2.94 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, and 171:45 K:BB in 31 starts, after an injury-plagued 2025 campaign.

Bryce Miller to Make Next Rehab Start on Wednesday

Seattle Mariners right-hander Bryce Miller (shoulder) said the tentative plan right now is for him to make another minor-league rehab start on Wednesday with High-A Everett, according to Daniel Kramer of MLB.com. Miller is getting close to rejoining the Mariners' starting rotation to make his 2026 season debut, and fantasy managers looking for rotation upgrades should consider stashing him now. The 27-year-old former fourth-rounder out of Texas A&M in 2021 has looked good on his rehab assignment through three starts, and he threw 36 of his 53 pitches for strikes while tossing four scoreless innings his last time out on Thursday with Triple-A Tacoma. Right now, Miller is rostered in only 29% of Yahoo leagues, so he's widely available. The good news for Miller is that he hasn't dealt with any elbow injuries, which derailed his 2025 campaign. He's worth a look to see if he can rediscover the form he had in 2024 with the M's, when he went 12-8 with a 2.94 ERA and 0.98 WHIP with 171 K's and 45 walks in 180 1/3 innings across his 31 starts. Miller should be back in the big leagues by mid-May.

Bryce Miller Punches Out Six in Rehab Start on Friday

Seattle Mariners right-hander Bryce Miller (oblique) appears to be nearing a return to Seattle's starting rotation. The 27-year-old hurler looked good in his latest minor-league rehab start with High-A Everett on Friday night, going three shutout innings while giving up just one hit, walking one, and striking out six batters. Miller allowed just two baserunners and threw 35 of his 47 pitches for strikes in his second rehab appearance as he works his way back from an oblique injury that put him on the 15-day injured list before the start of the 2026 regular season. He still needs to build up his pitch count a bit more, but after another couple of rehab starts, he should be reinstated from the IL and rejoin the M's rotation in May. In his first rehab start with Triple-A Tacoma, Miller gave up three earned runs in 1 2/3 innings while walking one and striking out two. The former fourth-rounder in 2021 went 12-8 with a 2.94 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, and 171 strikeouts in 2024 in a breakout campaign before posting an ERA over 5.00 and being limited to 18 starts last year due to injuries. Miller is only rostered in 27% of Yahoo leagues, but that number should go up considerably once he's closer to making his 2026 debut.

Bryce Miller to Begin a Rehab Assignment on Saturday

Seattle Mariners right-hander Bryce Miller (oblique) will start a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma on Saturday, according to Daniel Kramer of MLB.com. Miller will likely need the full 30-day allotment on the IL to build up his workload, according to president of baseball operations Justin Hollander. He's scheduled to throw two innings and/or 30 pitches on Saturday. If all goes well, the 27-year-old might be ready to come off the 15-day injured list to make his 2026 season debut near the end of May. Miller took a step forward in his second MLB season in 2024, when he went 12-8 with a 2.94 ERA and 0.98 WHIP with 171 strikeouts and 45 walks in 180 1/3 innings over 31 starts, but he was bitten by the injury bug last year and this spring. He only made 18 starts in 2025 and posted a career-worst 5.68 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, and 74:34 K:BB in 90 1/3 innings. Miller still has a way to go before he's contributing for fantasy managers, and he's rostered in 28% of Yahoo leagues currently.

Bryce Miller on the Cusp of Going on Rehab Assignment

Seattle Mariners right-hander Bryce Miller (oblique) is expected to rejoin the team in Seattle this weekend to have the training staff get a closer look at his progression and rehab from left-oblique inflammation, according to Daniel Kremer of MLB.com. Kramer is suggesting that his news could mean that Miller is about to start a minor-league rehab assignment. Miller's rehab stint is expected to consist of multiple starts to build his workload back to the range of five or six innings and/or 80 to 90 pitches. He threw a bullpen session on Sunday that went "very well," according to manager Dan Wilson. Miller has been dealing with an oblique issue since his first spring training start on Feb. 26, and he was put on the 15-day injured list to begin the year because he didn't have his workload built up enough. Emerson Hancock has taken advantage of the rotation spot with Miller sidelined and has a 2.04 ERA with 19 strikeouts in his three starts. Miller should have a rotation spot waiting for him when he's fully built up, though, and he deserves to be stashed in most fantasy leagues until then.

Bryce Miller Placed on 15-Day Injured List With Oblique Strain

The Seattle Mariners placed right-hander Bryce Miller (oblique) on the 15-day injured list on Wednesday with a left-oblique strain, according to MLB.com's Daniel Kramer. Miller only made one appearance during spring training after injuring his oblique late last month. The good news, though, is that the 27-year-old hasn't had any setbacks after throwing a couple of bullpen sessions in camp. Miller still needs a couple of weeks to build his arm back up, but barring a setback, he figures to rejoin Seattle's starting rotation before the end of April. In the meantime, Emerson Hancock will take Miller's spot in the team's rotation. The former fourth-round pick of the Mariners in 2021 out of Texas A&M went 12-8 with a 2.94 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, and 171:45 K:BB in 31 starts in his second big-league season before dealing with injuries and posting a 5.68 ERA and 1.41 WHIP in just 18 starts in 2025 due to injuries. Miller is pitching with a bone spur in his right elbow as well, making him more of a risk in 2026, but he's still a worthwhile IL stash for his upside in mixed fantasy leagues.
