Bryce Miller Bulks Up in the Offseason

Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Bryce Miller is looking for a bounce-back 2026 season, and he reported on X that he's added 12 pounds this offseason and gained a little velocity. Miller went a solid 12-8 in 31 starts in 2024, with a 2.49 ERA and 3.58 FIP. He battled multiple injuries in 2025, making 18 starts and pitching about half the innings of the previous season, while going a disappointing 4-6 with a 5.68 ERA and a 5.17 FIP. Miller is still expected to be a key part of the team's rotation in 2026, and potentially, the extra bulk will make him more durable and give him some extra velocity to be more effective this season. He'll definitely be a pitcher to watch early in spring training to see if he can get things going in the right direction.

Mariners, Bryce Miller Avoid Arbitration

The Seattle Mariners announced they have signed starting pitcher Bryce Miller to a one-year deal, avoiding arbitration. According to Adam Jude of the Seattle Times, Miller had asked for $2.625 million and the Mariners filed at $2.25 million. They ultimately met right in the middle, as his new deal will pay him $2,437,500 in 2026. Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports that the deal also includes a club option for 2027. The option is worth $6.075 million and comes with a $15,000 buyout, bringing the guaranteed amount of his new deal to $2,452,500. The 27-year-old is coming off a career-worst season, during which he amassed a 5.17 FIP and exactly 0.0 fWAR, despite making 18 starts. He tossed a career-low 90.1 big-league innings while allowing 7.37 K/9, 3.39 BB/9, and an alarming 1.69 HR/9. Miller enters 2026 as the No. 5 arm in a strong, young pitching rotation that also includes Bryan Woo, Logan Gilbert, Luis Castillo, and George Kirby. He ranks as the #68 starting pitcher in RotoBaller's latest draft rankings for fantasy baseball.

Bryce Miller Not Expected to Need Elbow Surgery

Seattle Mariners right-hander Bryce Miller (elbow) said he doesn't expect to need surgery for a right-elbow injury that kept him out for half of the 2025 season. The same can be said for right-handed starters George Kirby (shoulder) and Logan Gilbert (elbow), who also missed around two months each in the first half of the season. Miller added that he has a follow-up exam with Dr. Keith Meister early this offseason to determine his next steps for a small bone spur in his right elbow. The 27-year-old had a platelet-rich plasma injection in his elbow in early June and didn't return to the rotation until Aug. 19, making eight starts over the final eight weeks of the regular season. Miller may receive a cortisone injection early in the offseason, and then maybe another one at the start of spring training. But barring a setback, Miller should be ready for the start of 2026. Fantasy managers shouldn't forget that he ranked among the American League leaders in 2024 with a 2.94 ERA and 180 1/3 innings over 31 starts.

Bryce Miller to Start Game 5 of ALCS Against Blue Jays

Seattle Mariners right-hander Bryce Miller will make the start in Game 5 of the American League Championship Series on Friday in Seattle against the Toronto Blue Jays, according to manager Dan Wilson. Right-hander Bryan Woo will be available out of the bullpen if Miller needs help early on. The Mariners will be hoping for a repeat of Miller's Game 1 performance, when he allowed only one run in six innings on short rest for a win. This time, the 27-year-old will be on regular rest while going up against Blue Jays right-hander Kevin Gausman. Miller dealt with injuries in the regular season and made only 18 starts, but he's been better in two postseason starts. In a no-decision in Game 4 of the AL Division Series against the Tigers, he gave up two earned runs with no walks and two K's in 4 1/3 frames. Miller faced Toronto just once in the regular season on May 11 and was hit hard, surrendering seven earned runs on eight hits (one homer) while walking two and fanning three in five innings.

Bryce Miller Named Game 1 Starter for ALCS

Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Bryce Miller has been named the Game 1 starter for the ALCS against the Toronto Blue Jays. The team has made it official that Miller will take the ball for the first game of the series on Sunday. Miller tossed 4.1 innings on Wednesday, so he'll be pitching on short rest. The right-hander did only throw 44 pitches during his latest outing, but figures to still have an abbreviated start. It's unclear who will follow Miller, but he'll at least get the first chance at it during Sunday's contest.

Bryce Miller to be Activated on Tuesday

Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Bryce Miller (elbow) will be activated off the 15-day injured list and start against the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday, according to manager Dan Wilson. This is great news as Miller has been sidelined since early June due to right elbow inflammation. He looked solid enough during his latest rehab start to clear him for this outing. It has been a struggle to keep Miller healthy and on the mound this season. He holds a 5.73 ERA, 1.54 WHIP, and a 39/23 K/BB ratio across 10 starts this season. Miller figures to be limited during his first outing back on the mound. He won't be an ideal streaming option against the Phillies, but should have good long term value, assuming he can stay healthy.

Bryce Miller Throws 76 Pitches in Rehab Outing on Wednesday

Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Bryce Miller (elbow) was solid in his third rehab appearance with Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday. He threw 76 pitches over 5 2/3 innings, allowing two hits and two earned runs while walking one and striking out four. Miller has been on the injured list since early June due to inflammation in his right elbow. The 26-year-old struggled before the injury, pitching to a 5.73 ERA and 1.54 WHIP with 39 strikeouts in 48 2/3 innings (10 starts). He's pitched to a 4.05 ERA with 15 strikeouts in 13 1/3 innings on his rehab assignment, but he's been punished by the long ball (four home runs allowed). Now that he's made it up to 76 pitches, Miller should be in line to make his next start in the big leagues.

Bryce Miller to Make Another Rehab Start on Wednesday

Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Bryce Miller (elbow) is scheduled to make a third rehab start with Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday. Miller is expected to throw around 80-to-85 pitches during this outing. The assumption is that this will be Miller's final rehab start before rejoining the Mariners rotation. The right-hander has been sidelined since early June due to elbow inflammation. Barring any setbacks, Miller should be back in Seattle following this outing. If available, Miller is well worth a stash for fantasy managers looking for pitching help.

Bryce Miller Throws 66 Pitches in Second Rehab Start

Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Bryce Miller (elbow) completed his second rehab start with Triple-A Tacoma on Thursday, allowing four runs on four hits and two walks with five strikeouts in 3 innings, reports Tim Booth of The Seattle Times. He threw 66 pitches with 47 strikes. Most of the damage came from three home runs, and this obviously wasn't the most impressive rehab performance. Still, it's encouraging to see him toss 66 healthy pitches, and his fastball velocity was completely back to normal, with a 95.9 mph average on his four-seamer. The 26-year-old could potentially make his next start in the majors, however, Seattle may feel he needs one more rehab start to get back up to speed.

Bryce Miller Set for Rehab Start on Thursday

Seattle Mariners' right-hander Bryce Miller (elbow) is set for his second rehab outing in Triple-A Tacoma on Thursday and should throw around 65 pitches. He threw 52 pitches in his last rehab start and continues to build up his workload. If all goes well, Miller could be activated as early as August 12th for his first in the majors since June. The 26-year-old has been on the injured list with elbow inflammation and looks to turn things around after posting a 1.54 WHIP before landing on the IL. Miller has had control issues this year, evidenced by his 4.25 BB:9 in 2025, compared to 2.25 last year. Even though his ERA for this year stands at 5.73, he has been a tad unlucky with a BABIP of .322, which is above league average. Fantasy managers should continue to stash Miller, who is likely to return to Seattle's rotation in mid-August.
