Cal Raleigh Breaks Mariners Single-Season Home Run Record

Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh broke yet another record in a crucial 6-4 win over the division-rival Houston Astros on Saturday. The AL MVP contender belted his 57th home run of the year, passing the legendary Ken Griffey Jr. to set a new single-season franchise record. Raleigh, who swatted a solo shot against Astros left-hander Framber Valdez, finished the night 1-for-4 with a walk and an additional run scored. He's now slashing .246/.361/.586 with an AL-leading 119 RBI, 106 runs scored, and 14 stolen bases in 152 games and 674 plate appearances. Not only is Raleigh the first catcher to ever slug 50 HRs in a season, but with a week of games left, he has a legitimate shot at 60.

Cal Raleigh Sets Single-Season Home Run Record for a Switch-Hitter

Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh made history in Tuesday's matchup against the Kansas City Royals by hitting his 55th and 56th home runs of the season, passing Mickey Mantle for the most home runs by a switch-hitter in a single year. Mantle's mark stood for more than six decades before Raleigh surpassed it with his latest power display. The 28-year-old slugger leads the majors in home runs and is firmly in the American League MVP conversation. Raleigh is slashing .248/.362/.592 with a .954 OPS in his fifth major league season and continues to launch baseballs with authority, providing the Mariners with a consistent source of power during their late-season push.

Cal Raleigh Swats 53rd Home Run in Win

Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh slugged his league-leading 53rd home run of the season in an 18-2 thrashing of the Atlanta Braves on Sunday. Raleigh's three-run jack in the top of the ninth against right-hander Rolddy Munoz traveled 426 feet. The AL MVP candidate finished the afternoon 2-for-6 with an additional run scored. He's now slashing .243/.351/.581 with an AL-high 113 RBI, 94 runs scored, and a surprising 14 stolen bases over 619 plate appearances. Raleigh is just one homer from tying the legendary Mickey Mantle for most by a switch-hitter in a single season. With another three weeks left in the regular season, Raleigh also has a good chance to reach the 60 mark. He's already in uncharted territory as the first catcher to smash at least 50 in a season.

Cal Raleigh Sets Catcher Home Run Record

Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh went 3-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI in Sunday's 11-4 win over the Athletics, cementing himself in the history books in the process. The homers marked his 48th and 49th of the season, which tied and then broke the previous record for most home runs in a single season by a catcher. The former record holder was Salvador Perez, who accomplished the feat in 2021. Raleigh truly is having a historic season for a backstop, slashing .247/.353/.593 with 49 home runs, 106 RBI, 85 runs, and 14 stolen bases with still over a month left to add to his totals.

Cal Raleigh Homers in the Little League Classic on Sunday

Seattle Mariners All-Star catcher Cal Raleigh gave the kids at the 2025 MLB Little League Classic something to cheer about on Sunday night, as he went 2-for-5 with two RBI, one run scored, and a two-run blast in the seventh inning as the Mariners were defeated by the New York Mets 7-3. The home run was Raleigh's 47th long ball of the season, and he leads the league in that category, with the next closest being Kyle Schwarber with 43. Raleigh continues to put together one of the best offensive seasons for a catcher in MLB history. With Aaron Judge missing some time in late July with an elbow injury and being limited to designated hitter of late, the odds for the AL MVP race have gotten significantly tighter and in favor of Raleigh (plus-110, according to ESPN). Fantasy managers can continue to lock Raleigh into their lineups without thinking twice, as he's been the best fantasy catcher by far.

Cal Raleigh Blasts 44th Homer

Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh has been in a bit of a slump recently, but was able to make some noise during Saturday's game. Raleigh helped extend the lead with a three-run home run off right-hander Joe Boyle in the third inning. It was his 44th long ball of the season, which now puts him in third place for single season homers by a catcher. Raleigh put together an unbelievable first half of the season, but has really struggled to find the same magic since then. There is still plenty of time for Raleigh to keep mashing and earn himself the single-season homer record for catchers.

Cal Raleigh Starting on the Bench Versus Brewers

Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh will get the day off in Wednesday's series finale against the visiting Milwaukee Brewers at T-Mobile Park. Mitch Garver will do the catching for right-hander Luis Castillo and will hit sixth against Brewers right-hander Quinn Priester. This will be Raleigh's second day off since June 9. The 28-year-old is having a season for the ages and hit his 39th home run of the year in Tuesday's 1-0 victory over Milwaukee. Not only is the switch-hitting catcher by far and away the most valuable fantasy backstop in 2025, but he's one of the best overall hitters as well. In addition to his career-high 39 long balls, Raleigh has contributed 84 RBI, 68 runs scored, 11 stolen bases and a .256/.370/.619 slash line with an elite .988 OPS in 367 at-bats. His 39 homers and 84 RBI lead all of baseball. Garver is hitting .228 on the year with six homers in 158 at-bats.

Cal Raleigh Wins 2025 Home Run Derby

Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh continued his elite power surge on Monday, taking home the trophy in the T-Mobile Home Run Derby in Atlanta. With his dad as the pitcher and his younger brother as the catcher, Raleigh became the first catcher and switch-hitter to win the Derby. The 28-year-old barely made it out of the first round, tying with Brent Rooker for the fourth spot with 17 HR but advancing due to his longest homer being one inch farther than Rooker's. He then defeated Oneil Cruz in the semifinals with 13 HR, and bested Junior Caminero in the finals with 18 HR. It seems fitting that Raleigh would win, as he is having a career season and leads baseball with 38 HR. He will head into the second half with a .259/.376/.634 slash line, 65 runs scored, 82 RBI, and 10 stolen bases in 417 plate appearances.

Cal Raleigh Homers Twice, Drives in Five

Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh continued his monster season in his team's 12-3 win on Friday night over the Detroit Tigers. Raleigh went two-for-five with a pair of home runs and five RBI. The switch-hitter has been by far the best catcher in baseball this season, slashing .264/.377/.645 with 38 home runs, 81 RBI, 65 runs scored, and nine stolen bases. Raleigh's 38 homers are the second-most of any player before the All-Star break, trailing only Barry Bonds (39 in 2001). The 28-year-old has been MLB's premier power bat in 2025, upping both his barrel rate (19.8%) and hard-hit rate (48.9%) to career-highs while dropping his strikeout rate to a career-low 25.2%.

Cal Raleigh Continues Historic Homer Pace Tuesday

Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh continued his torrid power run in Tuesday's 10-3 loss to the Yankees. Raleigh went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk. The 28-year-old clobbered an eighth-inning Geoff Hartlieb pitch into the second deck of right field for his 36th long ball of the season. With the blast, Raleigh passed Ken Griffey Jr. as the franchise record holder for the most HR before the All-Star break. Raleigh has been one of fantasy's top hitters in the first half, slashing .268/.383/.646 with 76 RBI and nine stolen bases in 392 plate appearances. He now leads baseball in HR and is second in RBI, while also leading his position in stolen bases.
