Dominic Canzone has Earned a Full-Time Role

Seattle Mariners outfielder Dominic Canzone has earned a full-time, middle-of-the-order role in Seattle's lineup going forward, according to Adam Jude of The Seattle Times. "He's earned it," president of baseball operations Jerry Dipoto said. The 28-year-old left-handed-hitting outfielder is currently hitting .273/.349/.551 with a .900 OPS, 14 home runs, 37 RBI, 32 runs scored, and a stolen base in 205 at-bats in 2026 in his third full season with the M's. He already has a career high in home runs, RBI, and runs scored in 78 games and 232 plate appearances. All four of Canzone's starts against left-handed pitchers have come in the last month, and he's gone 6-for-22 (.273) against southpaws, with two of his 14 home runs on the year. Under the hood, Canzone's xBA of .282 and xwOBA of .383 (wOBA of .384) back up his first-half breakout. He ranks in the 84th percentile in hard-hit rate, the 94th percentile in barrel rate, and the 96th percentile in xSLG. Canzone should be a priority waiver-wire pickup in fantasy leagues for those who need slugging help in the outfield.

Dominic Canzone Back in Lineup on Monday as DH

Seattle Mariners outfielder Dominic Canzone (hamstring) is back in the starting lineup for Monday's series opener against the division-rival Los Angeles Angels and right-hander Ryan Johnson, serving as the designated hitter and batting third, per MLB.com. Canzone is back in action on Monday after sitting out Sunday's series finale against the Cleveland Guardians with right-hamstring soreness. The 28-year-old left-handed-hitting outfielder has been one of the team's most consistent hitters this year and already is up to a career-high 12 home runs, slashing .274/.349/.542 with an .891 OPS, 33 RBI, 29 runs scored, and a stolen base in 190 at-bats. He is hitting .323 (21-for-65) with five home runs, three doubles, a triple, and 11 runs scored in 22 games in June, but he's cooled off of late, going 3-for-23 with a homer, two RBI, three walks, and nine strikeouts in his last eight contests. Canzone lacks fantasy upside in shallow-mixed leagues because he rarely plays against lefties, but he's hitting a nice .281 (48-for-171) with 11 of his 12 long balls against righties this year.

Dominic Canzone Returns From Hamstring Injury on Wednesday

Seattle Mariners outfielder Dominic Canzone (hamstring) is serving as the designated hitter and is batting sixth on Wednesday against the hosting Pittsburgh Pirates and right-hander Braxton Ashcraft at PNC Park, according to MLB.com. Canzone was held out as a precaution in Tuesday's win over the Pirates due to a right-hamstring injury. The left-handed-hitting outfielder is back now, though, and he should draw consideration as a waiver-wire pickup in fantasy baseball leagues on the strong side of a platoon for the M's at DH. The 28-year-old has already set new career highs in home runs (12) and RBI (33) in 70 games this year while slashing a nice .281/.353/.562 with a .915 OPS, 28 runs scored, and a stolen base in 201 plate appearances. Canzone has really come on strong in June, going 19-for-54 (.352) with five home runs, two doubles, a triple, 10 RBI, and 10 runs scored in 19 games played. Fantasy managers searching for outfield upgrades should consider Canzone, who is only rostered in 20% of Yahoo leagues.

Dominic Canzone Out on Tuesday With Hamstring Injury

Seattle Mariners outfielder Dominic Canzone (hamstring) is not in the team's starting lineup for Tuesday's tilt on the road at PNC Park against the hosting Pittsburgh Pirates, according to MLB.com. Victor Robles is starting in left field for the M's and will hit eighth against Pirates right-hander Mitch Keller. Canzone is considered day-to-day after leaving Sunday's game early against the Boston Red Sox with a hamstring injury. The Mariners had a day off on Monday, but he's still not feeling good enough to return for the series opener on Tuesday. The good news for the Mariners is that they reinstated outfielder Randy Arozarena (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list, and he will serve as the team's designated hitter on Tuesday. Left-handed-hitting outfielder Luke Raley (illness) is also back from an illness. The 28-year-old Canzone has been an asset against right-handers in mixed leagues in 2026, hitting .281/.353/.562 with a .915 OPS, 12 home runs, 33 RBI, 28 runs, and a stolen base in his 178 at-bats. He has already set career highs in homers and RBI in 70 games played in 2026.

Dominic Canzone Exits With Hamstring Issue, Expects to be Fine

Mariners outfielder Dominic Canzone (hamstring) exited Sunday's game against the Red Sox in the sixth inning with a reported hamstring injury. The 28-year-old showed clear discomfort while running out an RBI groundout and was removed immediately after the play. Canzone later said he expects to be fine and is not expected to miss significant time, as he traveled with the team to Pittsburg for their upcoming six-game road trip. He has been one of Seattle's most productive hitters this season, slashing .281/.353/.562 with a .915 OPS and 12 home runs. The 12 homers are already a career high, showing Canzone has taken a major step forward. The Mariners will continue monitoring his status, but the injury does not appear serious at this point.

Dominic Canzone Could Be a Worth a Deep-League Roster Spot in 2026

Seattle Mariners outfielder Dominic Canzone is off to a hot start to the 2026 season, hitting two home runs in eight plate appearances across the team's first three games of the season. As expected, the lefty-hitting Canzone was out of the starting lineup for Seattle's matchup against Cleveland Guardians' left-handed starter Joey Cantillo on Sunday. Still, Canzone looks like the Mariners primary designated hitter against right-handed starting pitchers. The 28-year-old excelled against right-handed pitching in 2025, slashing .308/.355/.524 with 10 home runs and 28 RBI in 201 plate appearances. Canzone could be a cheap source of power for fantasy managers to target on the waiver wire heading into the second week of the 2026 season.

Dominic Canzone a Top Pickup After Two-Homer Game

Seattle Mariners outfielder Dominic Canzone came ready to play on Opening Day. He went 2-for-4 with a pair of solo home runs during Thursday's loss to the Cleveland Guardians. Canzone took right-hander Tanner Bibee deep in the second inning and blasted a 444-foot homer off Shawn Armstrong in the seventh inning. He started at designated hitter on Thursday, but Canzone figures to see playing time in the outfield as well. The 28-year-old slashed .300/.358/.481 with 11 home runs and 32 RBI across 82 games last season. His hot start to the season makes him worth snagging off waivers right now.

Can Dominic Canzone Build on 2025 Breakout?

Seattle Mariners outfielder Dominic Canzone broke out in 2025, hitting .300/.358/.481 with 11 home runs, 32 RBI, 30 runs scored, and three stolen bases across 268 plate appearances. The 28-year-old cut his strikeout rate from 28.2% in 2024 to 22% in 2025 while still posting an excellent 14.5% barrel rate. The lefty-swinging Canzone owns a career .756 OPS against right-handed pitching compared to just a .607 OPS against southpaws, so he may be limited to a large-side platoon role in Seattle. Canzone seems likely to see most of his at-bats in 2026 at designated hitter, but he could also get in the mix in right field if Mariners outfielder Victor Robles struggles or misses time due to injury. Given Canzone's likely playing time ceiling and his lack of speed (five career stolen bases), his fantasy upside is limited. However, Canzone has sleeper potential at his current average draft position of pick 336 if he can lock down a spot in the starting lineup whenever Seattle faces a right-handed starting pitcher.

Dominic Canzone on the Bench for Game 7

Seattle Mariners outfielder Dominic Canzone is absent from the starting lineup ahead of Monday's ALCS Game 7 against the Toronto Blue Jays. Canzone has been in the lineup almost exclusively against right-handed pitching this postseason. However, he has struggled with only three hits during those nine games. That being said, Victor Robles will take over in right field and bat ninth against right-hander Shane Bieber on Monday. Robles has actually been worse as he's 1-for-12 during this series, so it's possible we see both players during this elimination contest.

Dominic Canzone Has Five-Hit, Three-Homer Game Tuesday

The Seattle Mariners had two players with multi-homer games in Tuesday's 12-5 win over the Royals, including outfielder/designated hitter Dominic Canzone. Canzone had an outstanding day at the plate, going 5-for-5 with two singles, two solo home runs, and a two-run HR. The 28-year-old has not been able to carve out a routine role with the Mariners, but he has made the most of his at-bats, slashing .304/.363/.491 with 10 HR, 28 RBI, and two stolen bases in 237 plate appearances. His inconsistent playing time makes him a difficult fantasy option to rely on for the final few weeks, but he could be a useful play in daily leagues when he draws starts.
