J.P. Crawford Back From Nagging Triceps Injury on Friday

Seattle Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford (triceps) is back at shortstop and will hit leadoff for the M's in Friday's series opener in Kansas City against the Royals and left-hander Noah Cameron, according to MLB.com. Crawford has missed a couple of games this week with a sore triceps muscle after he was initially hit by a pitch on Sunday in the series finale against the San Diego Padres, but he's back in action to kick off the weekend in KC. Rookie infielder Colt Emerson will shift back to third base and will hit ninth in the batting order against the Royals. The 31-year-old Crawford could be in danger of losing playing time on Seattle's infield this year if he continues to struggle at the plate. He enters Friday's game with a weak .210/.358/.364 slash line, .722 OPS, six home runs, 16 RBI, 23 runs scored, and one stolen base in 143 at-bats. With below-average power and speed at a premium position in fantasy, Crawford isn't much to look at. He is currently rostered in only 11% of Yahoo leagues. Crawford has gone 2-for-3 in his three career at-bats against Cameron, but he's gone 7-for-41 (.171) with one of his six homers this year against lefty pitchers.

J.P. Crawford Scratched on Wednesday With Triceps Soreness

Seattle Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford (triceps) has been scratched from the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the visiting Chicago White Sox due to a sore triceps muscle, according to Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times. It was bothering Crawford when he tried to play catch. Rookie infielder Colt Emerson will take over at the 6 and will bat eighth, with Patrick Wisdom slotting in at third base and seventh in the batting order versus White Sox right-hander Sean Burke. The injury stems from when Crawford was hit by a pitch in Sunday's series finale against the San Diego Padres, forcing him from that contest early. It's still bothering him a bit, but he should be able to return for Friday's series opener against the Kansas City Royals after a scheduled day off on Thursday. For now, fantasy managers should consider Crawford day-to-day. The 31-year-old veteran offers very minimal power and speed, mostly making him a fantasy option for middle-infield depth in deeper fantasy baseball formats. Crawford is hitting only .210 (30-for-143) on the year with six home runs, 16 RBI, 23 runs scored, and a stolen base for the M's.

J.P. Crawford Back in Monday's Lineup Against White Sox

Seattle Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford (triceps) is back in the starting lineup for Monday's series opener against the visiting Chicago White Sox, batting leadoff against left-hander Noah Schultz, according to MLB.com. Crawford was hit by a pitch in his right triceps muscle on Sunday against the San Diego Padres and was pulled early as a precaution, but he's back in there a day later and is ready to roll. The 31-year-old former 16th overall pick by the Philadelphia Phillies in 2013 isn't much to look at in fantasy from an offensive perspective, and he's only rostered in 13% of Yahoo leagues. To start his 10th year in the big leagues in 2025, Crawford has hit just .216 (30-for-139), although he does have six home runs, 16 RBI, 23 runs scored, and a stolen base in 40 games across 171 plate appearances. Crawford's career high in home runs is 19 back in 2023, and he has never stolen double-digit bases in his nine-plus seasons.

J.P. Crawford Leaves Early After Hit-by-Pitch

Seattle Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford (arm) left Sunday's contest against the Padres early after getting hit by a pitch in the third inning. San Diego pitcher Lucas Giolito caught Crawford with a 92 MPH fastball on the right tricep. Crawford stayed in the game but was pulled ahead of the fifth inning and replaced at shortstop by Leo Rivas. Per Daniel Kramer, Crawford was left with a contusion that made extending his arm difficult. So far this season, Crawford has been lagging behind his expected stats, hitting just .216 compared to his xBA of .263. If he misses time, Rivas doesn't have much more to offer fantasy managers, as he is slashing a meager .131/.263/.172.

J.P. Crawford Returns From Injury; Mariners Getting Key Piece Back In Lineup

Seattle Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford (shoulder) has been reinstated from the 10-day injured list after missing the start of the season with right shoulder inflammation. Crawford is expected to return to his everyday role as a steady presence in the lineup. The 31-year-old is entering his eighth season with Seattle and appeared in 157 games in 2025, posting a .265 AVG, .352 OBP, and .370 SLG. He has reached at least 145 games played in four of the last five seasons. If he stays healthy, Crawford should provide consistency on both sides of the ball as the Mariners look to build on last season's success.

J.P. Crawford Could Return From Shoulder Injury Soon

Seattle Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford (shoulder) went through a light workout under the eye of infield coach Perry Hill and the team's athletic training staff before the game on Saturday against the Cleveland Guardians, according to Daniel Kramer of MLB.com. Crawford is scheduled to remain with the team through the weekend, and if all goes well, he'll begin a minor-league rehab assignment. His rehab assignment would likely come at Triple-A Tacoma. Crawford will likely be back from the 10-day injured list during the team's road trip, which begins on Friday and runs through Anaheim and Arlington. The 31-year-old received a cortisone shot for his ailing right shoulder last week for an injury that has been bothering him from early on in spring training. He's expected to go through a more vigorous workout on Sunday. Crawford only played in seven Cactus League games, but he's been receiving at-bats in minor-league games in camp for over a week. He should be ready to hit the ground running next weekend, barring a setback, but Crawford doesn't offer a ton of fantasy upside with very modest power and speed abilities in a pitcher-friendly home ballpark.

J.P. Crawford Starting Season on 10-Day Injured List

The Seattle Mariners placed shortstop J.P. Crawford (shoulder) on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday with right-shoulder inflammation, according to Daniel Kramer of MLB.com. Crawford received a cortisone injection last week for a shoulder injury that he's dealt with since the start of spring training in February. He managed to play in seven Cactus League games, though, going 2-for-16 (.125) with three RBI and a stolen base. The good news for the M's is that they could have their starting shortstop back when he's eligible to come off the IL on Wednesday, April 1. Until then, Leo Rivas will have added value in AL-only leagues as middle-infield depth as the starter at the 6 for Seattle. Crawford's injury isn't serious, but it's another knock on the former first-rounder and his limited fantasy upside. He had double-digit home runs (12) for just the second time in his nine-year MLB career in 2025, and he's never had double-digit stolen bases in 930 career games.

J.P. Crawford Receives Injection, Uncertain for Opening Day

Seattle Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford (shoulder) received an injection in his shoulder on Wednesday and will be shut down for a few days, according to Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times. Manager Dan Wilson is unsure if Crawford will be ready for Opening Day in late March. The 31-year-old has been dealing with a cranky shoulder for most of spring training, which is why he has only appeared in seven Cactus League games. Crawford's injury increases the likelihood that infield prospect Colt Emerson makes the team's Opening Day roster. Leo Rivas will be another option for Seattle at the 6 if Crawford is not ready for the start of the 2026 regular season. Crawford already wasn't much to look at in terms of fantasy baseball value with modest power and speed abilities, and now he's even less attractive with the possibility that he will open the year on the injured list. In his ninth MLB season in 2025, he hit .265/.352/.370/ with a .722 OPS, 12 homers, 58 RBI, 69 runs scored, and eight steals in 157 regular-season games.

Mariners Not Very Concerned About J.P. Crawford's Shoulder

Seattle Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford (shoulder) is currently visiting Dr. Keith Meister in Texas to "make sure they are on track," according to Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com. General manager Justin Hollander said that Crawford's imaging was good, and the team's concern level is "very low" at this point. The veteran infielder has been out of the lineup since last Wednesday, but it doesn't sound like the injury is cause for too much alarm. It remains to be seen whether he'll be healthy enough to play on Opening Day, though. After a frustrating 2024 campaign, Crawford bounced back with an above-average 2025 season at the plate. Across 157 games, he slashed .265/.352/.370 with 12 home runs, an 11.3% walk rate, an 18.7% strikeout rate, and 113 wRC+. He's not a major power or base-stealing threat, but he puts the ball in play while delivering reliable infield defense. As it stands, the 31-year-old ranks #41 among RotoBaller's latest fantasy baseball rankings for 2026.

J.P. Crawford Out Again on Sunday, Still Dealing With Shoulder Soreness

Seattle Mariners shortstop J.P. Crawford (shoulder) is out of the Cactus League lineup again on Sunday against the Cincinnati Reds as he continues to deal with shoulder soreness, according to Shannon Drayer. The Mariners are taking the opportunity to give Crawford multiple days off with an off day coming on Monday. The team will see how he's feeling on Tuesday. It's an injury that the 31-year-old has been battling since early in spring training, and he even took a few weeks off earlier in camp to try to rest his shoulder. But after returning to Cactus League action in March, the issue hasn't gone away. It doesn't sound like the Mariners are too concerned about Crawford's shoulder, but it's definitely something to watch with Opening Day less than two full weeks away. Crawford hit .265/.352/.370 with a .722 OPS, 12 homers, 58 RBI, 69 runs scored, and a career-high eight steals in 157 games last year in his ninth year in the big leagues. He's a better real-life shortstop than a fantasy one with minimal power and speed upside. Crawford has double-digit homers in just two of his nine MLB seasons and has never had double-digit stolen bases. UPDATE: Crawford is expected to be back in the spring lineup on Tuesday.
