Royals to Promote Carter Jensen to Majors

The Kansas City Royals announced that they intend to promote catcher Carter Jensen from Triple-A Omaha on Monday. The 22-year-old Kansas City native was a third-round pick in 2021 who now ranks as MLB Pipeline's 69th-best prospect and the No. 2 farmhand in the Royals' system. Jensen opened 2025 in Double-A ball before earning a promotion to Omaha, where his phenomenal production led to his first call to the majors. In 43 games at the Triple-A level this year, Jensen slashed .288/.404/.647 with 14 home runs and 39 RBI in 184 plate appearances. While Jensen may be the long-term successor to franchise icon Salvador Perez, the latter is still the team's starter behind the plate. Jensen should overtake light-hitting journeyman Luke Maile as the Royals' No. 2 backstop and pick up playing time when Perez is out of the lineup or at DH.

Carter Jensen Lanches Two Home Runs on Tuesday

Kansas City Royals catching prospect Carter Jensen went 3-for-4 with two home runs during their contest against Triple-A Lehigh Valley. This was the backstop's second-straight multi-hit game and fourth-straight gam tallying at least one hit. The No. 2-ranked prospect in the Kansas City system opened the season playing with Double-A, but was able to make the jump to Triple-A quickly. With Double-A, Jensen held a .292/.360/.420 line with a .780 OPS. Since joinging the top ranks of the Kansas City asystem, Jensen has held a .286/.401/.643 line with an impressive 1.044 OPS. During this 39-game stretch, Jensen has tallied nine doubles and hit 13 long balls. Given his dominant play at Double-A, Jensen could be in the mix to make his MLB debut in the coming weeks.

Carter Jensen Day-to-Day with Wrist Injury

Kansas City Royals catching prospect Carter Jensen (wrist) was held out of the starting nine on Wednesday due to a right wrist contusion. Rogers noted that the backstop sustained this injury during his contest at Triple-A on Tuesday. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his stats in case this injury begins to linger. The 22-year-old opened the regular season with Double-A but needed only 68 games to prove he was ready to join Triple-A Omaha. At Double-A, Jensen held a .292/.360/.420 line with nine doubles and six home runs. Since joining Omaha, Jensen has continued to find success at the plate, holding a .252/.358/.574 slash line with eight doubles, nine home runs, and two stolen bases. He is a prospect to watch as he could push for a late-season MLB debut.

Carter Jensen Rips Three Extra-Base Hits on Saturday

Kansas City Royals catching prospect Carter Jensen continued to flex his power at Triple-A Omaha on Saturday, going 3-for-5 with a double, a triple, and a home run. The Royals' second-ranked prospect also collected a pair of RBI and scored twice in the contest. The 22-year-old is hitting .263 (29-for-110) during his 30 games for the Storm Chasers, with 11 of his hits going for singles and the other 18 going for extra bases. Between Double-A and Triple-A this season, the 6-foot backstop is slashing .284/.364/.835 with 15 home runs and nine stolen bases. With a healthy Salvador Perez, there is no rush to get Jensen to the big leagues, as you'd rather have him hitting at Triple-A than sitting on the bench in the majors, but with the way he is swinging, he could be the first bat the team calls up in September when rosters expand. Either way, Jensen is looking like the catcher of the future for Kansas City, so even redraft managers should be prepared to consider rostering him in 2026 and beyond.

Carter Jensen Homers in Another Multi-Hit Performance

Kansas City Royals catching prospect Carter Jensen continued his torrid stretch of hitting on Sunday, going 2-for-5 with a single, a home run, and three RBI for Triple-A Omaha. It was his seventh multi-hit effort in his last 10 games, going 16-for-37 (.432) during that span, including four doubles and six home runs. The Royals' second-ranked prospect earned a promotion to Triple-A at the beginning of July, and he's now hitting .288 with a scorching 1.085 OPS in his 15-game sample with the Storm Chasers. There is no room for the youngster on the Royals' roster at the moment, but if either Salvador Perez or Freddy Fermin were to go down with injury, Jensen surely would be under consideration for a call-up. As hot as he's been, Kansas City may also need to consider getting Jensen some time at another position to help open up pathways to the majors.

Carter Jensen Keeps Rolling With Three Hits, Five RBI on Wednesday

Kansas City Royals catching prospect Carter Jensen is on a roll, going 3-for-5 with a double, five RBI, and a run scored at Triple-A Omaha on Wednesday. That makes five multi-hit efforts in his last seven games, during which time he's gone 12-for-25 (.480) with four doubles, five home runs, 16 RBI, nine runs scored, a stolen base, and a 6:9 BB:K. The Royals' third-ranked prospect's hot hitting is what earned him a promotion to Triple-A in late June, but after some initial adversity (1-for-22 (.045), the 22-year-old has settled in nicely. At this rate, it's looking like a 2025 MLB debut is a high probability, and offensively proficient backstops are always intriguing in fantasy, so keep an eye out for any rumblings of a promotion.

Carter Jensen Homers, Gets on Base Five Times

Kansas City Royals catching prospect Carter Jensen stayed hot on Tuesday, going 2-for-2 with a single, a home run, three walks, three RBI, and a run scored for Triple-A Omaha. It's the fourth multi-hit effort in his last six games after a 1-for-22 start for the Storm Chasers, and nine of his 10 hits at the highest level have gone for extra bases (three 2B, six HR). The Royals' third-ranked prospect had been raking at Double-A before his promotion, and now owns a .285/.357/.462 slash line with 12 home runs through 79 games between Double and Triple-A. The Royals are currently carrying three catchers on their roster, so it may take an injury or a trade for Jensen to make it to the majors, but whatever the catalyst, the 22-year-old is on pace for a debut this year.

Carter Jensen Rips a Pair of Doubles, Scores Three Times

Kansas City Royals catching prospect Carter Jensen went 2-for-3 with a walk and two doubles for Triple-A Omaha on Saturday, driving in one run, scoring three times, and stealing one base in the process. The Royals' third-ranked prospect was hitting the cover off of the ball at Double-A, and although he's just 8-for-40 (.200) at Triple-A, all eight hits have gone for extra bases (three doubles, five home runs). The 22-year-old could find himself in the big leagues later this season, and with the kind of pop he's shown, the left-handed slugger could be an intriguing waiver add were he to get the call, but he would need regular at-bats in the majors and the power may come at the cost of batting average. Either way, it's worth keeping an eye on how he performs over the next several weeks to see if he becomes a worthy stash candidate in AL-only and two-catcher leagues.

Carter Jensen Launches Two Home Runs

Kansas City Royals catching prospect Carter Jensen went 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI during their contest against Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday evening. Jensen was recently promoted to Triple-A Omaha. Throughout his first five games at the level, Jensen went 1-for-22 at the plate with a home run. However, on Tuesday, he was able to not only post his first multi-hit game at the level, but also his first multi-home run at the level. The No. 3-ranked prospect in the Kansas City system opened the campaign with Double-A and looked quite comfortable during this stint. Through 68 games, the backstop posted a strong .292/.360/.420 line with nine doubles and six long balls. If Jensen can continue to turn the corner at Triple-A, he could reach the majors later in the regular season.

Carter Jensen Hits First Triple-A Long Ball

Kansas City Royals catching prospect Carter Jensen hit his first home run at the Triple-A level on Thursday evening during their contest against Indianapolis. In this contest, Jensen went 1-for-6 with two strikeouts. During his first two games with Triple-A Omaha, the young backstop went 0-for-9 with four strikeouts. The No. 3-ranked prospect in the Kansas City system opened the campaign with Double-A and was quite productive, posting a .292/.360/.420 slash line with nine doubles, six round-trippers, and seven stolen bases across 68 contests. Last summer, the 21-year-old held a modest .259/.359/.450 line across 125 games split between High-A and Double-A. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his progression with Triple-A as he could be in the mix for a late-season MLB debut.
