Carter Jensen Goes Deep Again on Thursday, Priority Add Off the Waiver Wire?

Kansas City Royals left-handed hitting catcher Carter Jensen has been excellent at the plate of late for the Royals, hitting .310 with two home runs, five RBI, and two runs scored over the past seven days. On the season, he has improved his slash line up to .251/.314/.452 with 13 home runs, 47 RBI, 41 runs scored, 17 doubles, and one stolen base. Carter struggled out of the gates to start the season, but is now nearing 15 home runs leading up to the All-Star break, and has the chance at a 30-home-run pace and 100 RBI if he continues to swing well. The Royals lineup continues to struggle with injuries, but Jensen has been seeing consistent playing time and has become a must-roster and must-start player in two-catcher formats. In one-catcher formats, he is still struggling in some key areas, such as his strikeout rate being way up this year compared to 2025 (26.9 percent compared to 17.4 percent) and his walk rate being down (13 percent to 8.7 percent). All that said, he is still impacting the ball fairly well and has the upside to get hot, as we saw in June, when he hit .290 with five home runs, 20 RBI, and 18 runs scored. If available, fantasy managers should roster him.

Carter Jensen Can Contribute Rare Catcher Numbers

Kansas City Royals catcher Carter Jensen has been outstanding over the last 18 games, hitting .315 with four homers, 16 runs, and 16 RBI. He has eight doubles to go with those four homers in that span, producing a .399 wOBA with a 49.2% hard-hit rate. The 22-year-old made it to the majors very quickly after being a third-round pick in the 2021 MLB Draft, and he is starting to settle in and produce at this level. He has also hit leadoff in 14 of those 18 games, putting him in a great position for run-production and getting him extra at-bats. The lefty still has lots of room to grow, but since he fills a catcher spot where his production is even more unusual, he makes a great pickup at this point from the waiver wire in almost all formats.

Carter Jensen Remains a Stash Option at Catcher

Kansas City Royals catcher Carter Jensen came into the season swinging a hot bat, but he has cooled off since then. Jensen has smashed six home runs with 17 RBI and 15 walks through his first 37 games this season. He has hit a cold spell recently, but could still be someone worth stashing in fantasy formats. Over the last two weeks, Jensen is 4-for-39 at the plate with one RBI and six walks. He's still showing good vision at the plate, so eventually his numbers should bounce back. It's tough to find a catcher who is both good defensively and offensively. Jensen has 20-homer upside that makes him worth stashing despite his recent struggles.

Carter Jensen Emerging as a Power Bat to Target on the Waiver Wire

Across 111 plate appearances so far in 2026, Kansas City Royals catcher Carter Jensen is hitting .235/.315/.439 with six home runs, 16 RBI, and 13 runs scored. The 22-year-old's elevated 29.7% strikeout rate is a red flag in his profile, limiting his batting average upside. However, Jensen's 12.1% barrel rate and 45.5% hard-hit rate are indicators of intriguing power potential. Jensen has also established himself as an everyday staple in the Kansas City lineup, rotating between catcher and designated hitter duties with veteran Royals backstop Salvador Perez. For fantasy managers looking for power off the waiver wire, Jensen is a logical target.

Carter Jensen Stays Hot, Emerging as Priority Waiver-Wire Target

Kansas City Royals catcher Carter Jensen has continued his strong production into late April, slashing .288/.361/.562 through 24 games. Jensen has been especially hot lately, posting multi-hit performances in four of his last five games while collecting nine hits during that stretch. His April average sits at .323, and he has taken a clear offensive step for a Royals lineup searching for consistent production. The 78th overall pick in the 2021 draft also posted a .941 OPS in 20 games last season, adding to the breakout case. If this surge continues, Carter Jensen should keep climbing fantasy radars as a priority waiver wire target entering May.

Carter Jensen is a Must-Add Target at Catcher Position

Kansas City Royals catcher Carter Jensen has been picking it up with the bat recently, and fantasy managers are beginning to notice. Jensen had a recent stretch of play where he hit over .300 with three home runs and five RBI in a six-game span. The power numbers have taken a dip since then, but Jensen is still worth looking at for fantasy managers in need of a catcher. The 22-year-old is slashing .222/.259/.463 with four homers, 10 RBI in 18 games this season. He has been filling in as the designated hitter whenever he's not behind the plate. It's never an easy task finding a viable hitter at the catcher position, but Jensen appears to have good upside.

Carter Jensen Heating Up, Emerging as a Must-Add Catcher in Fantasy?

Kansas City Royals catcher Carter Jensen is starting to heat up at the plate and has homered three times in his last six games. Jensen is slashing .211/.262/.553 with four home runs, seven RBI, six runs, and 16 strikeouts over 14 games. The 22-year-old has struggled with strikeouts this season, posting a 35.9 K%, almost double last season's strikeout rate. However, his 18.2% barrel percentage is in the 92nd percentile, while his hard-hit percentage (50.0) is in the 79th percentile. Jensen has legit power and homered 14 times in just 43 games in Triple-A last season. His average might not be there yet, but Jensen carries plenty of upside and is only rostered in 30% of Yahoo leagues. Fantasy managers searching for catcher help off the waiver wire should add Jensen in all leagues, especially while he's wielding a hot bat.

Carter Jensen Continues Power Surge on Tuesday

Kansas City Royals catcher Carter Jensen was the lone offensive bright spot in his team's 2-1 loss to the Cleveland Guardians on Tuesday, as he went 1-for-3 with a walk and a solo home run. The 22-year-old has now gone deep in back-to-back games and has three home runs in 31 plate appearances this season. Jensen also owns an impressive 53.3% hard-hit rate, backing up the 58.3% hard-hit rate he posted across a 60-plate appearance sample size in 2025. Perhaps most importantly, Jensen could be working his way towards everyday playing time in Kansas City. The presence of veteran Royals catcher Salvador Perez blocks Jensen from the full-time starting role behind the plate, but the Royals should have enough at-bats available at designated hitter to give both players regular playing time. Jensen will be a popular waiver-wire target across all formats if he can continue his recent hot streak at the plate.

Carter Jensen Owns Mistake After Scratch; Looking To Bounce Back Quickly

Kansas City Royals catcher Carter Jensen was scratched from the lineup in Wednesday's 5-1 loss against the Minnesota Twins after reportedly oversleeping. Salvador Perez started in his place. Jensen took full responsibility for the mistake, saying, "Felt like I let teammates down, coaches down. Just learn from it and know it won't happen again." The 22-year-old is off to a slow start, slashing .125 AVG, .167 OBP, and .313 SLG through six games. He showed promise in a 20-game sample last season, but is still working to find consistency early this year. Jensen will look to move past the setback and take advantage of his next opportunity.

Carter Jensen Removed from Thursday's Lineup

Kansas City Royals catcher Carter Jensen (undisclosed) was a late scratch from Thursday's lineup due to an undisclosed injury. Instead, the Royals will move outfielder Jac Caglianone to the DH spot, which opens a position for Lane Thomas in the outfield. Through the early part of the young season, Jensen has spent time both behind the dish and serving as the DH. Across five games, the young catcher has held a .125/.167/.313 line with two hits. However, one of his hits left the yard. He made his MLB debut late in the 2025 season and immediately flashed high-end talent, posting a .300/.391/.550 line with a .941 OPS over a short 20-game stint. Managers should continue to monitor his status in case Jensen needs to miss additional time.
