Tylor Megill News
With New York Mets starting pitcher Justin Verlander (shoulder) opening the year on the 15-day injured list, right-hander Tylor Megill will now start on Saturday against the Miami Marlins. The 27-year-old now becomes an attractive pickup in deeper leagues and a potential streamer this weekend. However, he'll need to pitch better than he did last year and this spring to keep his spot in the starting rotation for however long Verlander is out. Megill had a 5.13 ERA (3.77 FIP), 1.25 WHIP and 25.5 percent strikeout rate in 47 1/3 innings over 15 outings (nine starts) for the Mets in his second big-league season in 2022. He gave up 10 runs (seven earned) on 14 hits while walking 13 and striking out 12 over 17 innings in Grapefruit League action.
New York Mets pitcher Tylor Megill (undisclosed) was placed on the injured list for an undisclosed reason Wednesday. The 27-year-old was placed on the IL for undisclosed reasons; he may be on the COVID-19 injured list. He will have to clear the league's protocols ahead of the upcoming NL Wild Card Series Game 1, which starts on Friday. Megill owners a 5.13 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, and a 51:13 K: BB across 47 1/3 innings in 2022. Mychal Givens was reinstated from the injured list in a corresponding move.
New York Mets right-hander Tylor Megill (shoulder) threw a scoreless inning and didn't allow a hit while striking out one and walking none in his latest minor league rehab outing on Friday for Triple-A Syracuse. Megill hasn't allowed a single run in four relief innings on his rehab assignment, striking out eight in the process. When the Mets deem that he's ready to return from the injured list, he'll return in a relief role to close out the regular season. As a result, he can be left to the waiver wire to close out the 2022 campaign. Before his injury, the 27-year-old was 4-2 with a 5.01 ERA (3.60 FIP), a 1.21 WHIP, 47 strikeouts and 11 walks in 41 1/3 innings over nine starts in his second major league season.
