Alexandre Sarr Hopes To Play In Thursday's Season Opener

Washington Wizards forward/center Alexandre Sarr (calf) hopes to be available when the team kicks off its 2024-25 campaign by hosting the defending-champion Boston Celtics on Thursday. He's nursing calf soreness, which forced Sarr to miss Washington's final two preseason games. Sarr looked in good form during the preseason before dropping out of the lineup. He averaged 11.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks while shooting 54 percent from three-point range with 3.4 attempts. The 19-year-old would become a very popular man among fantasy managers if he manages to post similar numbers during the regular season.

Alexandre Sarr Receives Praise From Head Coach

Washington Wizards center Alexandre Sarr has received mixed reviews since being selected as the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. But Wizards head coach is excited about the rookie's potential. "He's got the ability to be a three-level scorer at some point," Keefe said during a recent interview. "One thing that has stood out to us is his ability to see the game and read the game. He's a good passer, so we want the ball in his hands to explore those opportunities for him." Sarr appeared in four games in the 2024 Summer League. While he struggled offensively, he still showed promise by averaging 7.8 rebounds and 2.3 blocks. With that said, Sarr may not be a consistent option for redraft managers in 2024-25. Yet, it appears Keefe is committed to giving the 19-year-old plenty of chances to develop, so his dynasty outlook seems promising.

Alexandre Sarr Goes Scoreless On 15 Shots

Washington Wizards forward Alexandre Sarr had a nightmare in Tuesday's Summer League clash against Portland, finishing an 82-80 loss scoreless on 15 shots. Seven of the misses came from three-point range, and Sarr also came up empty-handed at the free-throw line with two attempts. Per ESPN Stats & Information research, it's the most field goal attempts by a player without a make in a summer league game since at least 2017. If this had been a regular-season contest, Sarr would have been tied for the second most in NBA history. The No. 2 pick of this year's draft has been battling shooting issues throughout the Summer League, going only 19.5 percent from the field. The young Frenchman clearly needs more time to adjust to his new surroundings.

Alexandre Sarr Shines Defensively In Win

Washington Wizards forward Alexandre Sarr had 12 points in Friday's Summer league win over the Atlanta Hawks. The 2024 No. 2 overall pick had some trouble finding the bottom of the net, going 4-for-12 from the field. However, he added seven boards while ending the game with four blocks and a steal. Without question, Sarr shows promise. He also has the potential to get plenty of work with the Wizards during the 2024-25 campaign, meaning he should receive interest from managers in all formats.
