Anthony Davis On Minute Restriction In Return Monday
Tim Bontemps of ESPN reports that Dallas Mavericks forward Anthony Davis (adductor) will play against the Brooklyn Nets on Monday night. However, according to Bontemps, Mavs head coach Jason Kidd said Davis will be on a 28-minute limit for tonight's game in Brooklyn. Davis has been out of action since February 8, his first game as a Maverick. With the big man's minutes restricted in his return, he is likely a risky option for fantasy managers for this evening's contest.
Dallas Mavericks forward Anthony Davis (adductor) will play on Monday night versus the Brooklyn Nets. AD was listed as doubtful on Sunday night, so most had assumed he wouldn't be out there. However, he'll return to the floor after being sidelined since February 8, his first game as a Maverick. With Dallas down Daniel Gafford (knee) and Dereck Lively II (ankle), Davis may need to hold things down at the five. But there's also a chance Kai Jones remains in the middle, with Davis moving over to the power forward spot. Either way, the former Laker will likely see a minutes cap, making him a risky option for fantasy managers.
Dallas Mavericks forward Anthony Davis (groin) is listed as doubtful ahead of Monday's game in Brooklyn. AD has appeared in only one game since his trade from Los Angeles to Dallas, amassing 26 points, 16 rebounds, seven assists, and three blocks during the Feb. 8 matchup with the Houston Rockets. Unfortunately, he re-injured his hip in that one and hasn't been on the floor since. It's possible Davis is back in action at some point in the next week, assuming he isn't cleared to suit up on Monday. Still, fantasy managers may not see him back to 100 percent for a while. If Davis is officially ruled out against the Nets, Klay Thompson, Naji Marshall, P.J. Washington, and Spencer Dinwiddie will likely remain more productive than usual.
Anthony Davis Assigned To G League, Ramping Up For Return
Dallas Mavericks center/forward Anthony Davis (adductor) has been assigned to the team's G League affiliate on Monday to get some more rehab work. According to ESPN's Tim McMahon, this move is to get Davis some more 5-on-5 work as he ramps up his conditioning to make his return. Jaden Hardy (ankle) was also assigned to the Texas Legends for the same purpose. Davis has been out since February 8, and the Mavericks are currently a game and a half ahead of the Phoenix Suns for the last play-in spot. While Davis still works back into the lineup, Kessler Edwards, P.J. Washington, and Naji Marshall should see the bulk of the frontcourt minutes.
Anthony Davis Cleared For More On-Court Work Friday
According to Mike Curtis of The Dallas Morning News, Dallas Mavericks center Anthony Davis (adductor) has been cleared for more on-court movements. He is set to be evaluated weekly by the Mavericks moving forward. Davis suffered a left adductor strain on February 8th during his first game in a Mavs uniform. If the 31-year-old can return this season, his veteran presence will boost his reeling club and the former Lakers center will make a massive impact in fantasy, as he has done throughout his career.
ESPN's Shams Charania said Tuesday on the Pat McAfee Show that Dallas Mavericks center Anthony Davis (thigh) could miss the remainder of the season due to a thigh injury he suffered during his first game in a Mavs uniform on Feb. 8. Charania also reported more devastating news for the club on Tuesday, stating that Kyrie Irving (knee) has been ruled out for the rest of this year's campaign after he suffered a torn ACL on Monday against Sacramento. Davis was having a fantastic season before his injury, posting averages of 25.7 points, 12.0 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.3 steals, and 2.2 blocks in 34.2 minutes per contest.
Dallas Mavericks center Anthony Davis (adductor) was already expected to be out "multiple" weeks in an earlier report from Shams Charania and Tim McMahon from ESPN. In their latest report that confirmed Daniel Gafford (knee) is out for six weeks, they also said that sources told them Davis is expected to miss "at least four weeks." The report also suggests that the Mavericks are going to be cautious about Davis' recovery since he was the headlining piece in the trade with the Los Angeles Lakers. Kessler Edwards got the start at center in their last game while Naji Marshall and Olivier-Maxence Prosper saw a big increase in opportunities as well.
Dallas Mavericks forward/center Anthony Davis (adductor) is expected to miss "multiple weeks," ESPN's Shams Charania and Tim MacMahon report. His absence may extend to even a month. Fortunately for the Mavericks, Davis was injured only a week before the All-Star break, but he is still set to miss significant time. Davis has joined Dereck Lively II (ankle) on the sidelines. On Monday against the Sacramento Kings, the frontcourt will also be missing P.J. Washington (ankle), leaving Daniel Gafford with a heavy workload.
Dallas Mavericks forward Anthony Davis (adductor) won't play on Monday night versus Sacramento. AD made his Mavericks debut on Saturday versus the Rockets. He had an excellent showing, amassing 26 points, 16 rebounds, seven assists, and three blocks. Unfortunately, Davis suffered an adductor strain in that one and was ruled out for the remain of the contest. It's unknown how much time he'll miss. If P.J. Washington (ankle) suits up, he'll likely slide back to the four spot. But if Washington is also out, Naji Marshall, who had 16 points on Saturday, should continue to benefit from an offensive standpoint.
Dallas Mavericks forward Anthony Davis (abdomen) is officially available for Saturday's meeting with Houston. It's a new era for the team, with AD arriving in Dallas from Los Angeles in exchange for Luka Doncic. As expected, he has had a quality year, averaging 25.7 points, 11.9 rebounds, 2.1 blocks, and 1.3 steals in 42 games with the Lakers. Davis had also remained relatively healthy until he suffered an abdomen strain during the Lakers January 28 loss to the 76ers. It may take him a few days to find his rhythm with his new squad. Yet, Davis should be extra motivated to produce, so an uptick in production could be on the horizon. Since he'll likely spend most, if not all, of his time at the four, category managers may also see a bump in three-point shooting. Davis' presence, along with P.J. Washington (personal, will likely result in Kessler Edwards and Dante Exum heading back to the bench, significantly capping their fantasy potential.
