Celtics
Boston Celtics center Kristaps Porzingis (foot) is trending in the right direction during his recovery from foot surgery. According to Jared Weiss, the big man will practice with the team's G League affiliate, the Maine Red Claws, along with Xavier Tillman Sr. Porzingis hasn't appeared in a game yet this season with his last game played coming in last year's NBA Finals. Al Horford, Neemias Queta, and Luke Kornet will continue to rotate through the center minutes until Porzingis can get back on the court.

Kristaps Porzingis Ruled Out For Tuesday's Season Opener
Boston Celtics center Kristaps Porzingis (foot) has been ruled out for the team's season opener against the New York Knicks on Tuesday. The star big man has been rehabbing from surgery on his foot and is not ready to take the floor just yet. There hasn't been a specific timetable reported, so fantasy managers will have to monitor his status in the meantime. Al Horford will take on some more minutes while the other opportunities will likely be spread between Luke Kornet, Xavier Tillman Sr., and maybe even Neemias Queta. Horford and Kornet are likely the better streamers to start the season.

Kristaps Porzingis "Feeling Really Good"
Boston Celtics center Kristaps Porzingis (leg) is progressing in his return from the torn medial retinaculum suffered in the postseason. During Celtics' media day, the veteran reported feeling "really good," adding he's been running and doing "light contact work." Porzingis finished his first season in Boston by averaging 20.1 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.9 blocks. However, he appeared in only 57 regular-season contests, which limited his fantasy contributions. While the 29-year-old hopes to return sooner than anticipated, fantasy managers should still be prepared to keep him stashed on their roster. Yet, once he is fully healthy, he'll be a difference-maker for fantasy managers come the playoffs. With that in mind, Al Horford will hold things down in the middle until Porzingis is back on the court, giving him value in all formats early in the 2024-25 campaign.

Kristaps Porzingis Making Progress
According to Jared Weiss of The Athletic, Boston Celtics general manager Brad Stevens said on Tuesday that center Kristaps Porzingis (foot) is progressing well since his foot surgery in June. Stevens didn't give a timetable on when Porzingis will likely return, but he is optimistic and said he is surprised at how quickly he is improving. Once healthy, the big man will significantly impact fantasy as he averaged 20.1 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 29.6 minutes last regular season.

Kristaps Porzingis Progressing "Well"
Boston Celtics forward/center Kristaps Porzingis (leg) hasn't suffered any setbacks in his recovery from a rare leg injury but isn't close to returning to basketball activities. "He's in Latvia. He's starting to do more and more and more," Celtics president Brad Stevens told Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe. "He was in a boot for a while there, but every indication is he's progressing well and he's on the right timeline. But it's going to be a while." Porzingis had surgery to repair a torn retinaculum and dislocated posterior tibialis tendon after the NBA Finals. He was expected to be out for 5-6 months, meaning the Latvian big man will likely be unavailable until at least late November. Al Horford will have elevated fantasy value at the start of next season with Porzingis on the shelf.

Kristaps Porzingis Expected To Miss Start Of Season
Boston Celtics forward/center Kristaps Porzingis (leg) is set to miss the start of next season. Porzingis suffered a torn retinaculum and dislocated posterior tibialis tendon during the NBA Finals and needs surgery. "Kristaps, after his surgery, we don't know exactly when he'll be back," said Celtics president Brad Stevens on The Ryen Russillo Podcast. "But, you know, he'll probably miss at least the very start of the season." Luckily for Boston, they have Al Horford waiting in the wings, and he's proven himself to be a very capable deputy to Porzingis. Stevens also suggested that the Celtics might experiment with different things without Porzingis. "And so that'll be a great opportunity for us to do things different and have to find different solutions and those types of things that come with it," Stevens said.

Surgery Forces Kristaps Porzingis To Miss Olympics
Boston Celtics forward/center Kristaps Porzingis (leg) will not play in the upcoming Summer Olympics in Paris, France, as he will have surgery "in the coming days," the team announced on Tuesday. Porzingis suffered a torn retinaculum and a dislocated posterior tibialis tendon during Game 2 of the NBA Finals. Although he missed Games 3 and 4, he made a comeback in Game 5, helping the Celtics secure the NBA title with a victory over the Dallas Mavericks. He had hoped to compete in Paris for his country, Latvia, but the Celtics stated that the injury "doesn't allow for consistent play at the level required for Olympic competition." A specific timeline for recovery is unknown and won't be known until after the surgery.

Kristaps Porzingis Set For Surgery After Helping Celtics Clinch Title
Boston Celtics forward/center Kristaps Porzingis (leg) returned to the court in Game 5 of the 2024 NBA Finals against Dallas on Monday. Despite carrying a leg injury, he contributed six points in 16 minutes off the bench as the team earned banner No. 18 with a 106-88 win. Porzingis, who became the first Latvia native to win an NBA championship, has been diagnosed with a torn medial retinaculum, allowing dislocation of the posterior tibialis tendon. The 28-year-old told ESPN that he will require surgery and have a recovery process of a "few months." Porzingis had another injury-riddled campaign in 2023-24, and his health status is definitely something fantasy managers must consider when planning for the new season.

Kristaps Porzingis Questionable For Game 5
Boston Celtics center Kristaps Porzingis (leg) is questionable for Monday's meeting with the Dallas Mavericks. Porzingis returned for Game 1 of the NBA Finals after missing over a month because of a Soleus strain. Unfortunately, he suffered a dislocated Left Posterior Tibialis in Game 2 and didn't suit up in Game 3. Porzingis was available in Friday's loss. However, he never made it on the floor. The Mavs built a big lead early in that contest, so it's unknown if Joe Mazzulla would have put him into the game had the score remained close. But if the veteran is active on Monday evening, he's certainly a risky DFS option, considering he may not get off the bench.

Kristaps Porzingis Available For Game 4
Boston Celtics center Kristaps Porzingis (leg) will play on Friday night against Dallas. He suffered a dislocated posterior Tibialis in Game 2 on Sunday night and wasn't available for Game 3 on Wednesday. With that in mind, Porzingis may only play in certain situations, so it may be tough for him to do anything meaningful for DFS managers.
