Kristaps Porzingis Expected To Miss Start Of Season

Boston Celtics forward/center Kristaps Porzingis (leg) is set to miss the start of next season. Porzingis suffered a torn retinaculum and dislocated posterior tibialis tendon during the NBA Finals and needs surgery. "Kristaps, after his surgery, we don't know exactly when he'll be back," said Celtics president Brad Stevens on The Ryen Russillo Podcast. "But, you know, he'll probably miss at least the very start of the season." Luckily for Boston, they have Al Horford waiting in the wings, and he's proven himself to be a very capable deputy to Porzingis. Stevens also suggested that the Celtics might experiment with different things without Porzingis. "And so that'll be a great opportunity for us to do things different and have to find different solutions and those types of things that come with it," Stevens said.

Surgery Forces Kristaps Porzingis To Miss Olympics

Boston Celtics forward/center Kristaps Porzingis (leg) will not play in the upcoming Summer Olympics in Paris, France, as he will have surgery "in the coming days," the team announced on Tuesday. Porzingis suffered a torn retinaculum and a dislocated posterior tibialis tendon during Game 2 of the NBA Finals. Although he missed Games 3 and 4, he made a comeback in Game 5, helping the Celtics secure the NBA title with a victory over the Dallas Mavericks. He had hoped to compete in Paris for his country, Latvia, but the Celtics stated that the injury "doesn't allow for consistent play at the level required for Olympic competition." A specific timeline for recovery is unknown and won't be known until after the surgery.

Kristaps Porzingis Set For Surgery After Helping Celtics Clinch Title

Boston Celtics forward/center Kristaps Porzingis (leg) returned to the court in Game 5 of the 2024 NBA Finals against Dallas on Monday. Despite carrying a leg injury, he contributed six points in 16 minutes off the bench as the team earned banner No. 18 with a 106-88 win. Porzingis, who became the first Latvia native to win an NBA championship, has been diagnosed with a torn medial retinaculum, allowing dislocation of the posterior tibialis tendon. The 28-year-old told ESPN that he will require surgery and have a recovery process of a "few months." Porzingis had another injury-riddled campaign in 2023-24, and his health status is definitely something fantasy managers must consider when planning for the new season.

Kristaps Porzingis Questionable For Game 5

Boston Celtics center Kristaps Porzingis (leg) is questionable for Monday's meeting with the Dallas Mavericks. Porzingis returned for Game 1 of the NBA Finals after missing over a month because of a Soleus strain. Unfortunately, he suffered a dislocated Left Posterior Tibialis in Game 2 and didn't suit up in Game 3. Porzingis was available in Friday's loss. However, he never made it on the floor. The Mavs built a big lead early in that contest, so it's unknown if Joe Mazzulla would have put him into the game had the score remained close. But if the veteran is active on Monday evening, he's certainly a risky DFS option, considering he may not get off the bench.

Kristaps Porzingis Available For Game 4

Boston Celtics center Kristaps Porzingis (leg) will play on Friday night against Dallas. He suffered a dislocated posterior Tibialis in Game 2 on Sunday night and wasn't available for Game 3 on Wednesday. With that in mind, Porzingis may only play in certain situations, so it may be tough for him to do anything meaningful for DFS managers.

Kristaps Porzingis "Has A Chance" To Play In Game 4

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Boston Celtics center Kristaps Porzingis (leg) might play in Game 4 of the NBA Finals versus the Dallas Mavericks. He suffered a dislocated posterior Tibialis in Game 2 on Sunday and wasn't available for Game 3. But the 28-year-old, who was initially believed to miss the rest of the Postseason, has a chance of suiting up for Game 4. However, Porzingis is also dealing with swelling, so the C's may play it safe and keep him off the floor, considering the team is just one win away from an NBA title. For now, he's officially questionable. But if Porzingis can't play, Al Horford, who had eight points, five boards, two steals, and one block on Wednesday, will likely stay with the first five.

Kristaps Porzingis May Miss The Rest Of The Finals

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, there is "real doubt" about the availability of Boston Celtics center Kristaps Porzingis (leg) for the remainder of the NBA Finals against the Mavericks. The veteran suffered a posterior Tibialis dislocation in Game 2 on Sunday night. While he tried to test things out ahead of Game 3, the C's medical staff made the call to keep him off the floor. Porzingis recently returned for Game 1 after missing over a month because of a Soleus strain. Although he came off the bench in the first two games of the NBA Finals, he still averaged 16.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks. Nonetheless, the 28-year-old may need surgery. But while Porzingis is on the shelf, Al Horford will likely continue to start.

Kristaps Porzingis Won't Play In Game 3

Boston Celtics center Kristaps Porzingis (leg) is out for Wednesday's matchup against the Dallas Mavericks. The veteran suffered a "rare" left posterior Tibialis dislocation. While he had every intention of suiting up, the medical staff didn't feel it was in his best interest. There's a growing concern that Porzingis won't return for the remainder of the NBA Finals. But while he's sidelined, Al Horford is worth rostering in DFS contests.

Kristaps Porzingis Officially Questionable For Game 3

Boston Celtics center Kristaps Porzingis (leg) is questionable for Game 3 of the NBA Finals versus Dallas. The team declared him "day-to-day." However, many believe he won't return for the remainder of the postseason because of the left posterior Tibialis discloation he sustained during Game 2 on Sunday night. Of course, Porzingis will likely do all he can to be out there on Wednesday. But if he can't suit up, Al Horford, who will likely continue to start regardless of Porzingis' availability, should see even more minutes, automatically increasing his DFS value.

Kristaps Porzingis Considered Day-To-Day For Rest Of Finals

The Boston Celtics announced that forward/center Kristaps Porzingis (leg) is listed as day-to-day for the rest of the NBA Finals after suffering a rare injury in the third quarter of Game 2 on Sunday versus Dallas. According to Marc D'Amico of the Celtics' official site, the injury is a torn medial retinaculum that allowed dislocation of the posterior tibialis tendon in his left leg. The current setback for Porzingis is unrelated to his previous right-calf injury. He has suited up for just six games this postseason and has averaged 24.5 minutes, 13.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.8 blocks per contest.
