Paul Reed News
The Detroit Pistons have re-signed forward Paul Reed on Monday. This news comes two days after Reed was waived by the organization. It sounds like the Pistons attempted to trade Reed, but they couldn't find a legitimate partner. They've decided to bring him back as depth, but he's unlikely to make an impact in the rotation with Jalen Duren and Isaiah Stewart both healthy. Reed is averaging 4.8 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 0.7 assists in 10 minutes per game this season. Fantasy managers can ignore Reed with him playing a minimal role off the bench right now.

Pistons Waiving Paul Reed
According to ESPN's Shams Charania, the Pistons are waiving forward Paul Reed. The 2020 No. 58 overall pick began his career by spending four years in Philadelphia, where he had some productive showings. But after the Sixers waived him, he was claimed by the Pistons. Unfortunately, things didn't work out in Detroit, with Reed averaging only 4.8 points in 12 games. He'll likely draw plenty of interest from clubs around the National Basketball Association, especially from teams looking to bolster depth. But regardless of where Reed lands next, he'll need minutes before earning a place on fantasy rosters.

Paul Reed Bound For Detroit
On Tuesday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reported that the Detroit Pistons claimed center Paul Reed off free agency waivers. Reed is in the second season of a three-year, $24 million deal and will join former 76ers teammate Tobias Harris in the Motor City. The 76ers waived the 25-year-old on July 6th. With Philadelphia, he suited up for 82 regular season games last year, averaging 7.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.0 blocks in 19.4 minutes. Come fall, Reed will not be a fantasy factor, as he will have to compete with Isaiah Stewart and Jalen Duren for playing time.

Paul Reed Getting Waived By Philadelphia
According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Philadelphia 76ers are waiving forward/center Paul Reed. The 25-year-old inked a three-year, $23.5 million deal with Philly last offseason. However, with the Sixers signing free agent Caleb Martin, Reed, who has a non-guaranteed salary, will be sent packing. He averaged a career-high 7.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks with the Sixers last season. Although Reed will likely find a new team, he isn't expected to be a routine contributor anytime soon.

Paul Reed Back In Starting Five Wednesday
Philadelphia 76ers center Paul Reed will return to the starting five on Wednesday versus Memphis. Reed has been Philadelphia's main starting center since Joel Embiid (knee) dropped out of the lineup, but 76ers head coach Nick Nurse had preferred to run Mo Bamba with the starters in the previous three games. Bamba hasn't done much in the elevated role, and now it's time for Reed to boost his stock again. The 2021 G League MVP has recorded 10.0 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks in the first unit this season. However, he faces a difficult challenge on Wednesday against Jaren Jackson Jr., the NBA's reigning Defensive Player of the Year. Nicolas Batum will also be back among the 76ers starters on Wednesday.

Nick Nurse Believes Paul Reed Is Ready To Take A Step Up
Philadelphia 76ers forward/center Paul Reed has a big fan in new head coach Nick Nurse, who believes the 24-year-old can do a lot more for the team. "He's had a great summer -- amazing. He's really worked," Nurse said of Reed on Patrick Beverley's podcast. "From the moment I got the job, he got in the shooting program and he's been on it. He's in shape. Will he play with (Joel) Embiid? For sure. I don't think that that's a question. He's going to be out there playing hard, he's going to be defending, and he's going to be doing probably more than he's done before. I think he's ready to take a step up. He can play." During his three-year career, Reed has so far averaged only 9.3 minutes per game, producing 3.7 points and 3.1 rebounds. Life behind Embiid has been difficult for many bigs in Philadelphia, but with Nurse promising Reed minutes alongside him, the former G League MVP could indeed be ready to make a big step up and ignite his NBA career.

Paul Reed “Surprised” 76ers Matched Offer Sheet
Center Paul Reed was "surprised" when the Philadelphia 76ers matched his offer sheet as a restricted free agent this offseason. The 24-year-old's agent didn't believe the Sixers would do so after re-signing Montrezl Harrell and also picking up Mo Bamba. As it turns out, Reed settles in with Philadelphia on a three-year deal to split reserve minutes with the two big men in 2023-2024. The former second-round pick has gotten some occasional run when Joel Embiid was sidelined in the past, but it was barely enough to make Reed fantasy relevant. It was really De'Anthony Melton who experienced a more significant value uptick in those instances as Philly more regularly opted for a smaller lineup.

Sixers Match Offer Sheet For Paul Reed
Philadelphia 76ers forward Paul Reed will have his offer sheet matched by the team with just a little over an hour to spare, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. The 24-year-old has become a fan favorite in Philly and one of the best backup bigs the team has had behind Joel Embiid. If the team wins their first-round playoff matchup this season, then they have to guarantee the last two years of Reed's contract. With this team now led by head coach Nick Nurse, it doesn't sound like that's going to be much of an issue. His fantasy relevance only comes during streaming times when Embiid is hurt or resting.

Paul Reed Jr. Signs Offer Sheet With Utah
According to ESPN senior NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, restricted free agent forward/center Paul Reed Jr. signed a three-year, $23 million offer sheet with the Jazz. The 24-year-old averaged 4.2 points and 3.8 rebounds in 69 games in Philadelphia last season. However, he showed signs of life by averaging 13.5 points, 9.0 boards, 2.5 blocks, and 2.0 steals in two starts. The Sixers have until 11:59 p.m. ET on Sunday to match the offer to retain him. If not, Reed will officially head to Utah. Nonetheless, the 2020 second-round pick could be poised for his best year to date, although he probably won't be a consistent fantasy producer for either club.

76ers Still Want To Keep Paul Reed
The Philadelphia 76ers made a move on Wednesday and signed free-agent center Mo Bamba. The assumption is that Bamba will provide additional depth to Joel Embiid, but the Sixers aren't done yet. Despite signing Bamba, the Sixers still want to bring back restricted free agent Paul Reed. According to Adrian Wojnarowski, the 76ers have "every intention" of keeping Reed. Last season, Reed averaged 4.2 points and 3.8 rebounds in 10.9 minutes with the Sixers. He doesn't seem to helpful on paper, but Reed does a lot of little things that doesn't always show up on the stat sheet. His return would limit the upside of Bamba heading into next season.
