Michael Crabtree News
The Arizona Cardinals released wide receiver Michael Crabtree on Monday after he was with the club for just over a month. He was inactive for the season opener before playing 30 combined snaps in the last two games, totaling four catches on five targets for just 22 yards. The Cardinals are using four-receiver sets on 62.2 percent of their plays, and Larry Fitzgerald, Christian Kirk, Damiere Byrd and rookie Keesean Johnson have carried the group so far through three weeks. Rookie Andy Isabella and Trent Sherfield comprise the rest of the team's receiving depth.
Arizona Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury expects wide receiver Michael Crabtree to play in Week 2 against the Ravens. Arizona recently signed the veteran wideout, but he was a healthy scratch in the season opener while he continued to learn the playbook. If active, Crabtree figures to be fourth on the receiver depth chart, at best, behind Larry Fitzgerald, Christian Kirk and rookie Keesean Johnson. Even with Baltimore's secondary a little banged up, Crabtree won't be anywhere near the fantasy radar as he's eased into the offense. Crabtree's presence is bad news for Damiere Byrd, Trent Sherfield and rookie Andy Isabella.
Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Michael Crabtree will not play Sunday against the Detroit Lions. Look for rookies Andy Isabella and Keesean Johnson to see more work as a result. Crabtree signed with the Cardinals less than three weeks ago and more than likely needs more time understanding the playbook as well as getting into shape. Look for quarterbackKyler Murray to lean on veteran Larry Fitzgerald and second-year man Christian Kirk early in this game to develop a rhythm.
