Seattle Seahawks tight end Nick Vannett has been standing out in training camp with Ed Dickson (quadriceps) still out with an injury. Head coach Pete Carroll said Dickson won't return to practice anytime soon. Vannett and rookie Will Dissly have been working with the starting unit, and Vannett caught a five-yard touchdown in the preseason game last Thursday. Vannett was bothered by a herniated disc in his lower back the last two years and had just 15 catches for 24 yards behind Jimmy Graham and Luke Willson. Vannett is intriguing since he'll have much more opportunity in a pass-catching role, especially with Dickson injured, but he's still likely to share playing time and shouldn't be drafted in most formats.

Seattle Seahawks tight end Nick Vannett is expected to receive a lot more playing time in 2017 after serving as the fourth tight end and playing just 84 snaps in 2016. He'll enter the 2017 campaign as the third tight end on the depth chart behind Jimmy Graham and Luke Willson, but he should be an active part of the game plan each week. Both Graham and Willson will be unrestricted free agents after this year, so Vannett is a big part of Seattle's future. While Vannett should see more action on the field for the Seahawks this year, he's a real long shot to find any kind of fantasy relevance unless Graham is injured. You can leave him to the waiver wire.
