Kevin White News
Any hope that wide receiver Kevin White may return sometime this season were laid to rest after he underwent ankle surgery Tuesday. Expected to be one of the more important parts of not only this year but the Bears' future, he was nothing but a disappointment as he suffered from a thick coat of rust. White's now missed all but four games over the first two seasons of his career and will face an even harder time adjusting to the NFL next season. Potential isn't a fantasy category, so until that changes, White should be dropped in all leagues.
Young wide receiver Kevin White is experiencing growing pains as he works on honing his craft, but Week 4 may be the game he finally puts it all together (enough so, at least). After receiving 14 targets last week against the Cowboys, he is set to see the same volume Sunday with it now known that star receiver Alshon Jeffery isn't at full health. With a good matchup Sunday against a porous Lions' defense--currently ranked 11th in the league in points allowed to wide receivers--expect Kevin White and tight end Zach Miller to be quarterback Brian Hoyer's favorite targets in what is set to be an offensively-active game.
Wide receiver Kevin White may have had expectations set too high for him by just about everyone going into the 2015 first-round draft pick's first real NFL game Week 1 after a shin injury wiped out his rookie season, and we are all going to have to dial our patience up to compensate. To his credit, he realizes that he's a work-in-progress who is still finding his game feet, saying "I've got a lot of work to do." The Bears draw an offensively favorable matchup against the Eagles Monday night that will give White enough targets to show off his shiny potential, but not enough to lead to fantasy pay dirt as the red zone looks are certainly going to Alshon Jeffery, Eddie Royal and Zach Miller instead (barring some fluke slam dunk chance). Just outside our experts' top-100 players for both PPR and standard scoring, White is a low-end WR3 this week with long-term upside.
