Alexander Romanov Rejoins Islanders Lineup

New York Islanders defenseman Alexander Romanov (upper body) will return to the lineup on Tuesday against Calgary. He's missed the past seven games and has played in only one of the last 11 contests. The Russian blue-liner boasts two assists for the season with 10 shots on goal, 21 blocks, and 16 hits in eight outings. Romanov will be reunited with Noah Dobson on the first defensive pairing. Grant Hutton will come out of the lineup. The Flames average the eighth-most hits per game, and Romanov's return will help the Islanders match their physicality.

Alexander Romanov Remains Sidelined Tuesday

New York Islanders defenseman Alexander Romanov (upper body) will not be available on Tuesday against Pittsburgh. He remains day-to-day and will miss a second consecutive game. The Islanders have had a chance to use Romanov just once in the past five games as the Russian rearguard battles an upper-body injury. Adam Pelech (jaw) and Mike Reilly (upper body) are also out, giving Dennis Cholowski an opportunity to skate with Noah Dobson on the first defensive pairing. As a result of the injuries, we will also see Isaiah George make his NHL debut on Tuesday. George joins the lineup after posting two points (one goal, one assist) in four AHL appearances. He will link up with Grant Hutton on the third defensive pairing.

Alexander Romanov Ready To Play Friday

New York Islanders defenseman Alexander Romanov (upper body) will return from a three-game absence on Friday against Buffalo. He was initially regarded as a game-time decision. However, it has now been confirmed by Stefen Rosner of NHL.com that Romanov will play on Friday. Romanov racks up defensive stats for fun but doesn't provide offense very often. In seven appearances this season, he has registered two assists, 10 shots, 19 hits, and 14 blocks. Romanov's return to the lineup pushes Mike Reilly back to the third defensive pairing while Dennis Cholowski exits the lineup.

Alexander Romanov Remains Out On Tuesday

New York Islanders defenseman Alexander Romanov (upper body) will miss a second consecutive game on Tuesday versus Anaheim. He remains day-to-day with an upper-body injury. The Russian rearguard has collected two assists in seven games this season with 10 shots, 19 blocks, and 14 hits. Dennis Cholowski has replaced Romanov in the lineup. Cholowski scored on Saturday in his season debut against Florida. However, he's only logging third-pairing minutes in defense, limiting his fantasy appeal. Mike Reilly has moved up to the first pairing. He hasn't yet generated any offense this season, going scoreless with 11 shots on goal.

Alexander Romanov Sits Out Saturday's Game

New York Islanders defenseman Alexander Romanov (upper body) will not be available on Saturday versus Florida. He is considered day-to-day with an upper-body injury. Romanov made his seventh appearance of the season on Friday versus New Jersey and collected his second assist of the campaign. He has yet to score with 10 shots on goal. The Russian blue-liner ranks first on the team with 19 blocks and third with 14 hits. The Islanders will definitely miss his physicality on Saturday. Dennis Cholowski is expected to step into the lineup as Romanov's replacement. Cholowski is offensively more talented than Romanov but likely won't see a lot of ice time. He has averaged 12:46 of action across his first two appearances of the season.

Alexander Romanov 100 Percent For Training Camp

New York Islanders defenseman Alexander Romanov (shoulder) was on the ice Thursday as training camp started and is reportedly fully healthy. Romanov's status for camp was initially questionable after he underwent shoulder surgery in the offseason. The 23-year-old has started preparations for his second season on Long Island. Last season, Romanov had a career year offensively with 22 points (two goals, 20 assists), and he was a major presence on the defensive end with 129 blocks and 198 hits.

Alexander Romanov Could Miss Start Of Training Camp

New York Islanders defenseman Alexander Romanov (shoulder) might not be ready for the start of training camp. The Russian blue-liner had shoulder surgery at the end of last season, and the team wants to be cautious in bringing him back. Romanov had a very solid debut campaign with the Islanders, notching 22 points (two goals, 20 assists) in 76 games with 100 shots on goal, 129 blocks, 198 hits, and a plus-13 rating. Samuel Bolduc is expected to fill in for Romanov if he isn't ready for the start of the camp.

Alexander Romanov Could Return On Friday

New York Islanders defenseman Alexander Romanov (upper body) could return to the lineup for Friday's Game 3 against Carolina. He took part in the morning skate and said he is "ready to go". The Russian blue-liner has yet to feature in the playoffs, missing the last seven games in total. Romanov registered a career-high 22 points in 76 regular-season outings, adding 198 hits and 129 blocks to his tally. Islanders head coach Lane Lambert said Friday morning that if Romanov can't play, Parker Wotherspoon will be entered into the lineup.

Alexander Romanov Moves Up In Lineup

Montreal Canadiens defenseman Alexander Romanov will move up in the lineup for Thursday's matchup versus Calgary to play alongside Shea Weber. The Habs are making the move after Ben Chiarot fractured his arm in Wednesday's 5-1 victory over Vancouver. He looks set to miss significant time, which gives Romanov's fantasy value a big boost. The 21-year-old impressed during training camp, and big things are expected from the former second-round pick. He has five points through his first 24 career games with a plus-five rating, 58 hits, 41 shots and 30 blocks.

Alexander Romanov Will Play On Thursday

Montreal Canadiens defenseman Alexander Romanov will be back in the lineup on Thursday against Ottawa. The highly-rated Russian missed Tuesday's 5-3 win over Vancouver, but now gets another chance with Victor Mete getting scratched. Romanov skates on the third pairing and sees action on the second power-play unit. He has earned plenty of praise for his play and has two points, 20 shots, six penalty minutes, and a plus-four rating through his first nine career games. The Senators are giving up a league-high 4.80 goals per game, so Romanov will be in a nice spot to return with a bang.

Alexander Romanov Scores First Career NHL Goal In Victory

Montreal Canadiens defenseman Alexander Romanov scored his first career goal in Monday's 3-1 victory against the Oilers. The 21-year-old rookie opened the scoring with his shot from the blue line that beat goaltender Mikko Koskinen midway through the first period. Canadiens defenseman Shea Weber and left wing Artturi Lehkonen each scored a goal in the win, while goaltender Jake Allen made 25 saves in the contest. Romanov has tallied two points and a plus-one rating through three games to begin the 2021 season, making the young defenseman a valuable player that is worth consideration of a roster spot in dynasty formats.
