Cayden Primeau News
Montreal Canadiens goaltender Cayden Primeau frustrated the Blue Jackets with 41 saves on Tuesday, backstopping the team to a 3-0 win with his second shutout of the season. The 24-year-old established a new franchise record for most saves in a victory by a rookie netminder. Primeau also became only the fourth rookie in Canadiens history to register shutouts in back-to-back home outings. The young goalie has been lit up multiple times this season, but his recent home performances should lift Primeau's spirits. He's gone 6-6-2 in 14 starts with the Canadiens in 2023-24, allowing 2.83 goals with a .910 save percentage.
Montreal Canadiens goaltender Cayden Primeau hit a memorable milestone in Tuesday's matchup against the Ducks, recording his first career shutout in a 5-0 win. The 24-year-old needed to make only 13 saves to register the first Canadiens shutout in 12 months. This was Primeau's first appearance since Jan. 20. He boasts a 5-5-1 record for the campaign with a 3.07 goals-against average and a .903 save percentage. Primeau will look to post back-to-back wins for only the second time in his career the next time he gets the nod.
Montreal Canadiens goaltender Cayden Primeau will be the team's starting netminder for Tuesday's game against the visiting Anaheim Ducks. The 24-year-old hasn't made a start since Jan. 18 against the Senators, although he did come in for brief relief of Sam Montembeault two nights later. Primeau will enter Tuesday's contest sporting a 3.36 goals-against average and an .899 save percentage across 11 games on the season, going 4-5-1. Primeau's start comes after veteran Jake Allen was shelled for seven goals on 36 shots (.809 Sv%) in a 7-2 loss to the visiting St. Louis Blues on Sunday. He will take on a Ducks offense that ranks 29th with just 2.57 goals per game on the season.
Montreal Canadiens goaltender Cayden Primeau will make his fourth start of the season on Friday against San Jose. The 24-year-old has gone 1-2-0 through his first few outings in 2023-24, posting a 3.98 goals-against average with a .885 save percentage. Primeau got hammered by the Golden Knights a week ago in his last start when he allowed six goals on 42 shots, but Friday's task should be a much easier one for him. The 3-15-1 Sharks have been awful all season and have by far the poorest offensive record in the league, with only 1.47 goals scored per game.
