Filip Gustavsson Shuts Out Penguins Friday

Minnesota Wild goaltender Filip Gustavsson turned aside 19 shots to record his second shutout of the season in Friday's 5-0 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins. There are now four goalies with multiple shutouts this season, and two of them play for the Wild. Jesper Wallstedt has also done an impressive job for Minnesota. For most of the campaign, Wallstedt has even outperformed Gustavsson, but he has started to turn his season around. Gustavsson has gone 4-1-1 in November, improving his overall record to 6-7-2. He has a 2.79 goals-against average and a .902 save percentage. With both netminders in top form, Wallstedt and Gustavsson have alternated starts lately. If the trend continues, we will see Gustavsson next on Wednesday night against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Filip Gustavsson Shuts Door on Blues Thursday

Minnesota Wild goaltender Filip Gustavsson played a flawless game in the team's season opener against the St. Louis Blues on Thursday night, backstopping the team to a 5-0 road win with a 26-save shutout. This made Gustavsson the first netminder in Wild history with multiple shutouts in season openers. Keeping the Blues at bay is no easy task, considering they were ranked 13th in scoring last season and fired blanks only twice. Gustavsson is set to face last year's eighth-best offense in the next matchup, as the Wild host the Columbus Blue Jackets in their home opener on Saturday.

Wild Sign Filip Gustavsson to Five-Year Extension

Minnesota Wild goaltender Filip Gustavsson has signed a five-year, $34 million contract extension with the team, general manager Bill Guerin announced on Saturday. The new contract will take effect next year after Gustavsson has finished his current three-year, $11.25 million deal. Next week, the Swedish netminder will begin his second campaign as Minnesota's undisputed starter. He had a very good first year in the role, producing a 31-19-6 record, a 2.56 goals-against average, a .914 save percentage, and five shutouts. Gustavsson is set to remain among the top goalie options in fantasy hockey this season.

Filip Gustavsson On Track To Play Thursday

Minnesota Wild goaltender Filip Gustavsson (illness) is trending in the right direction and is expected to play in Game 6 against the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday. Gustavsson exited Game 5 early due to an illness. The Wild will face elimination on Thursday night, but Gustavsson has done a good job in the series. He has a 2-2 record with a 2.63 goals-against average and a .919 save percentage. Since the final few weeks of the regular season, Gustavsson has been beaten only twice in nine games on home ice, so this series might not be done yet after Thursday's Game 6.

Filip Gustavsson Exits Early Due To Illness

Minnesota Wild goaltender Filip Gustavsson (illness) played only two periods in Tuesday's Game 5 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights. The Swedish shot-stopper performed well, kicking away 23 of 25 pucks sent toward his net, but he wasn't feeling well and gave up the crease to Marc-Andre Fleury for the third period and overtime. Fleury saved six shots before Brett Howden sent the game-winner past him with 4:05 gone in the extra frame. Minnesota is set to start with Fleury on Thursday night in Game 6 if Gustavsson doesn't recover in time. The Wild No. 1 has been solid in the postseason, allowing 2.63 goals with a .919 save percentage while going 2-2. However, Fleury has made 170 career playoff appearances -- the third most all-time among goalies -- and is not a bad option between the pipes.

Filip Gustavsson Shuts The Door On Kraken On Wednesday

Minnesota Wild goalie Filip Gustavsson stopped all 34 shots he saw en route to defeating the Seattle Kraken on Wednesday evening. The Kraken held the advantage in the shot total, but Gustavsson was able to lead the way. This outing extended his winning streak to two games. During this stretch, Gustavsson has only allowed one goal and stopped 62 of the 63 shots he saw. However, before this recent impressive stretch, Gustavsson held a modest .921 save percentage with a 2.20 GAA over his previous four contests. Fantasy managers should continue to expect Gustavsson to see the majority of starts in the Minnesota crease, with Marc-Andre Fleury operating as the clear No. 2 option. Gustavsson will look to extend his winning streak to three games on Saturday against the Buffalo Sabres.

Filip Gustavsson Takes On Kraken Wednesday

Minnesota Wild goaltender Filip Gustavsson will start on Wednesday against the Seattle Kraken. He will take the crease for the 47th time this season, trying to improve a 26-15-4 record. Gustavsson has posted four shutouts while registering a 2.57 goals-against average with a .915 save percentage. The Wild No. 1 has been one of the strongest fantasy options among goalies, but Gustavsson has been inconsistent since the 4 Nations Face-Off. He has won only four of his past nine appearances, dropping three of the last five. A matchup against a Seattle team that has a 14-19-0 road record gives Gustavsson a good opportunity to regain some momentum.

Filip Gustavsson Stops 28 Shots In Victory

Minnesota Wild goaltender Filip Gustavsson stopped 28 of the 29 shots he saw during their victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Monday evening. The Kings held the advantage in the shot total, but Gustavsson was able to lead the way. His lone mistake came in the opening frame when Adrian Kempe found the back of the net on the power play. Gustavsson would then shut the door for the remainder of the contest. This was also a nice bounce-back for Gustavsson, as he allowed four goals in his previous start. Over his last seven games, the 26-year-old has posted a 4-2-1 record with a solid .929 save percentage and a 1.98 GAA. Fantasy managers should continue to view Gustavsson as a solid, low-end No. 1 goaltender playing behind one of the best defensive units in the sport. He will look to stay hot against the Seattle Kraken on Wednesday evening.

Filip Gustavsson Starts Against Rangers Thursday

Minnesota Wild goaltender Filip Gustavsson has been named the starter for Thursday's matchup against the New York Rangers. He will look to continue an excellent month. In March, the Swedish netminder has posted a 3-1-0 record while allowing six total goals. Gustavsson kicked off the month with his fourth shutout of the season in a 1-0 victory over the Boston Bruins and has also defeated the Seattle Kraken and Colorado Avalanche. The Wild No. 1 has established himself as one of the best goaltenders in the league, going 25-14-3 for the campaign. He has recorded a 2.56 goals-against average and a .915 save percentage. Gustavsson has heated up lately and will be a good option for fantasy managers against a slumping Rangers squad that has lost four games in a row.

Filip Gustavsson Shuts Out Bruins With 28 Saves

Minnesota Wild goaltender Filip Gustavsson starred in a 1-0 victory over the Boston Bruins on Sunday, posting his fourth shutout of the season with 28 saves. Keeping the Bruins at bay is no small feat, considering David Pastrnak came into the matchup with a 17-game point streak. Pastrnak recorded a game-high five shots on goal, but Gustavsson stood firm, bouncing back from two consecutive losses. The Swedish netminder boasts a 23-13-3 record for the season, having allowed 2.61 goals with a .914 save percentage. Minnesota's injuries have complicated the situation for Gustavsson, but he has continued to be a dependable option for fantasy managers.

Filip Gustavsson Feeling Better, Expected To Be Available On Monday

Minnesota Wild goaltender Filip Gustavsson (illness) is feeling better and is expected to be available for Monday's contest against Team USA. Team Sweden's head coach Sam Hallman did not name a starting goaltender yet for their game against Team USA on Monday evening. Gustavsson departed early on Saturday afternoon during their overtime loss to Team Finland. Gustavsson stopped two of the four shots he faced before leaving the contest in the opening frame. If the 26-year-old is not cleared to action, then Ottawa's Linus Ullmark will draw the start. In relief, Ullmark stopped 15 of the 17 shots he faced. Leading up to the tournament, Gustavsson won four out of his last five contests. Both goaltenders are high-risk options in DFS as they will face Team USA, who has won each of their first two games and scored nine goals over that span.

Filip Gustavsson Battling An Illness

Minnesota Wild goaltender Filip Gustavsson did not complete Saturday's 4 Nations Face-Off matchup for Sweden against Finland due to an illness, as reported by Dan Rosen of NHL.com. Gustavsson started the game but exited after the first period, having allowed two goals on four shots. Linus Ullmark of the Ottawa Senators replaced him and helped the Swedes push the game to overtime, where Finland potted a 4-3 game-winner. Gustavsson has struggled at the tournament, posting a .813 save percentage, so even if he recovers in time for Monday's matchup against the USA, Team Sweden head coach Sam Hallam may opt to go with another goaltender. In addition to Ullmark, who stopped 15 of 17 shots on Saturday, Hallam also has Samuel Ersson of the Philadelphia Flyers available for selection.

Filip Gustavsson Starting On Saturday

According to Elliotte Friedman, Minnesota Wild goaltender Filip Gustavsson will get the starting nod for Team Sweden on Saturday afternoon against Team Finland. Gustavsson got the nod in the opening game of the Four Nations Tournament and held his own against a potent Canadian offense. He stopped 24 of the 28 shots he faced and eventually lost in overtime. Gustavsson will now face Team Finland who only scored one goal against Team USA in their first contest. Entering the tournament, Gustavsson won four out of his last five. During this stretch, he held a .927 save percentage with a 2.60 GAA. Overall, he holds a 22-11-3 record with a .915 save percentage and a 2.63 GAA. Given his favorable matchup, he should be viewed as the top option for DFS competitions.

Filip Gustavsson Faces Canada Wednesday Night

Minnesota Wild goaltender Filip Gustavsson will start for Sweden against Canada in Wednesday's 4 Nations Face-Off opener. Ottawa Senators netminder Linus Ullmark will serve as his backup, with Samuel Ersson of the Philadelphia Flyers scratched for the contest. Gustavsson has enjoyed a great campaign with the Wild, and Sweden will lean on him heavily against Canada's star-studded offense. Through 37 starts, Gustavsson has gone 22-11-3 with three shutouts. He is sporting a 2.63 goals-against average and a .915 save percentage. The 26-year-old played well for Sweden at last year's World Championships, helping the team finish third with a 6-1-0 record. He saved 20 of 22 shots in a 4-2 win over Canada in the bronze medal game.

Filip Gustavsson Stands Tall In Victory Over Carolina

Minnesota Wild goaltender Filip Gustavsson stopped 37 of the 38 shots he faced en route to defeating the Carolina Hurricanes on Thursday evening. The Wild were heavily outshot in this contest, but Gustavsson was able to lead the way. His lone blemish came in the third period when Sebastian Aho beat him on a wrist shot. This was also a much-needed bounce-back for Gustavsson, as he allowed five goals in his previous start on February 1. Before this poor outing, Gustavsson carried a two-game win streak where he stopped 50 of the 53 shots he faced. Overall, the 26-year-old holds a 21-11-3 record with a 2.61 GAA and a .915 percent SV. He has posted three shutouts. He will look to finish strong before the international break when the Wild host the New York Islanders on Saturday evening.

Filip Gustavsson Sharp In Victory Over Toronto

Minnesota Wild goaltender Filip Gustavsson stopped 32 of the 33 shots he faced en route to defeating the Toronto Maple Leafs on Wednesday evening. The Wild were heavily outshot in this contest, especially in the third period (5-14), but Gustavsson was able to lead the way. His lone blemish came in the final frame when William Nylander found the back of the net on a wrist shot for his 29th goal of the season. This impressive outing extended Gustavsson's winning streak to two games. Prior to this winning streak, Gustavsson was in a rough five-game skid as he held a 0-4 record with a 5.27 GAA and a .844% SV. The 26-year-old looks to be turning the corner and will likely continue to see the majority of starts in the crease. Marc-Andre Fleury is expected to get the nod on the second half of back-to-back on Thursday evening, with Gustavsson slated to start on Saturday against the Ottawa Senators.

Filip Gustavsson Out On Saturday

Minnesota Wild goaltender Filip Gustavsson (illness) will not dress for Saturday's contest against Nashville. The Swedish netminder is battling an illness and gives up the crease to Marc-Andre Fleury. He will be backed up by Dylan Ferguson. Fleury looks to grab his 10th victory of the season against the Predators. He is sporting a 9-3-1 record and has allowed 2.54 goals with a .910 save percentage. The bookmakers have Minnesota as a +160 underdog for the clash, so fantasy managers should look for alternative options between the pipes.

Filip Gustavsson Returns To Work Monday

Minnesota Wild goaltender Filip Gustavsson (lower body) will be back between the pipes on Monday versus Chicago. He's been out of the lineup for four games due to a lower-body injury. His last outing ended in a heavy 7-1 defeat against Edmonton, but Gustavsson has had a fantastic campaign as Minnesota's No. 1 option in the cease, posting a 14-5-3 record. He has allowed 2.24 goals with a .922 save percentage and two shutouts. Gustavsson's losses include a 2-1 overtime defeat against the Blackhawks on Nov. 10, but it's a great matchup for him. Chicago has won only five of 19 road games and averages the fourth-fewest goals in the league (2.56).

Filip Gustavsson Sits Out At Least Two More Games

Minnesota Wild goaltender Filip Gustavsson (lower body) will miss the team's upcoming back-to-back set. He's been unavailable for a pair of games, and Wild head coach John Hynes has confirmed that he won't use Gustavsson on Friday against Utah nor in Saturday's matchup against Winnipeg. Marc-Andre Fleury will be between the sticks for Friday's game, with Jesper Wallstedt likely getting the nod on Saturday. Gustavsson, who's had a very successful season with a 14-5-3, will have his next chance to return on Monday when Minnesota hosts Chicago in its final game before the holiday break.

Filip Gustavsson Records Second Shutout Of The Season

Minnesota Wild goaltender Filip Gustavsson bounced back from two consecutive defeats with a shutout performance on Wednesday versus Buffalo, stopping 39 pucks in a 1-0 road win. The Wild No. 1 became the 10th netminder in the league with multiple shutouts this campaign. Winnipeg's Connor Hellebuyck sits at the top of the pile with three. Only Hellebuyck and Dallas' Jake Oettinger boast more wins than Gustavsson. The 26-year-old Swede has gone 10-4-3 for the campaign, allowing 2.06 goals with a .929 save percentage. Gustavsson has developed into one of the best goalies in the league and should start for fantasy managers each night.
