Nathan MacKinnon, Gabriel Landeskog Cleared for Tuesday

Colorado Avalanche forwards Nathan MacKinnon (illness) and Gabriel Landeskog (illness) will play on Tuesday night against the Vancouver Canucks, Sportsnet's Dan Murphy reports. Both players sat out Monday's practice, along with fellow forward Parker Kelly, as there appears to be an illness spreading in the Avalanche dressing room. However, all three have been confirmed as available for Tuesday's game. MacKinnon is in the midst of another special campaign, leading the league in scoring with 44 points (20 goals, 24 assists) in 25 games. He has lit the lamp in each of his last three games, amassing a total of seven points. Entering Tuesday's matchup, Landeskog is also on a three-game point streak, having produced three goals and one assist.

Gabriel Landeskog a "Full Go" for the Season

Colorado Avalanche forward Gabriel Landeskog will face no restrictions at the start of the season. "Right now, he's full go," Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar said Wednesday. "I'm not going to limit his minutes. I'm not going to sit him out games when he's feeling good or taking practices off when he's feeling good." The Avalanche captain has missed three regular-season campaigns due to a knee problem, but he returned to action during the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Bednar's words suggest Landeskog is fully healthy for the start of the 2025-26 season. Despite sitting out three years, Landeskog made a positive impact in the postseason, tallying four points (one goal, three assists) with 10 shots in five games and delivering 16 hits.

Gabriel Landeskog Scores First Goal In Nearly Three Years

Colorado Avalanche forward Gabriel Landeskog was among the goal-scorers in Saturday's 4-0 victory over the Dallas Stars, lighting the lamp for the first time since Game 3 of the 2022 Stanley Cup Finals. He netted a one-timer off an assist from Brock Nelson in the second period to put Colorado ahead 3-0 for the night. Landeskog went on to collect an assist in the third period when Samuel Girard scored the final goal of the game. He registered three shots and two hits to complement his two points over 14:37 of action. Landeskog's return from a nearly three-year absence is an incredible story, and he has quickly proven that he can still be an impactful two-way player with two points and eight hits across two games.

Gabriel Landeskog Set For Larger Role In Game 4

Colorado Avalanche forward Gabriel Landeskog is expected to assume a larger role in Saturday's Game 4 against the Dallas Stars. Making his first NHL appearance since the 2022 Stanley Cup Finals, Landeskog skated on the third line in Wednesday's Game 3 loss, logging 13:16 of ice time. He finished the contest scoreless but had a game-high six hits. Now, the Avalanche plan to promote Landeskog to the second line for Saturday's game, and he is also expected to see time on the first power-play unit. Jonathan Drouin dropped down to the third line during Friday's practice.

Gabriel Landeskog Delivers Six Hits In First Game Since 2022

Colorado Avalanche forward Gabriel Landeskog recorded a game-high six hits during his long-awaited return to action in Wednesday's 2-1 overtime defeat to the Dallas Stars. Playing in his first NHL game in 1,032 days, Landeskog logged 13:16 of ice time. He added one block to his six hits but did not register any offensive stats. "It's a very special night, and from my perspective, regardless of the outcome of the game, I mean, that was a memory of a lifetime for me," Landeskog said postgame. "It was very special." The Avalanche are now 2-1 down in the series and will need everybody, including their captain, to step up their game.

Gabriel Landeskog Likely To Play In Game 3

Colorado Avalanche forward Gabriel Landeskog (knee) appears ready to make his comeback in Game 3 against the Dallas Stars on Wednesday night. Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar said on Wednesday morning that there is a "good chance" Landeskog will play in the contest. The Avalanche captain, who has been out of action since the 2022 Stanley Cup Finals, was activated from Long-Term Injured Reserve ahead of Monday's Game 2. He skated in pregame warmups but did not play. Landeskog is projected to skate on the third line, replacing Miles Wood in the lineup.

Gabriel Landeskog Activated From Injured Reserve

Colorado Avalanche forward Gabriel Landeskog (knee) was activated from Long-Term Injured Reserve on Monday, making him eligible to join the lineup for Game 2 against the Dallas Stars. The Avalanche captain is poised to make his first NHL appearance since Game 6 of the 2022 Stanley Cup Finals. He could serve as a replacement for Ross Colton (lower body), who was injured in Saturday's series opener. Landeskog will likely have some rust, but he was a point-per-game player before running into health issues, and his inclusion in the lineup will, at the very least, provide a morale boost for Colorado.

Gabriel Landeskog Could Be An Option For Playoff Opener

Colorado Avalanche forward Gabriel Landeskog (knee) appears to be nearing his NHL return. On Tuesday, he rejoined the team after a two-game conditioning stint in the AHL, marking his first outings since 2022. He played on back-to-back days, which is a positive sign that the Avalanche captain might be prepared to make his NHL comeback when the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs begin. "I think it's exciting for us, because it may give us another option here when we get to the weekend and start playing playoff games," Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar said. "I got to make lineup decisions too at some point here, and we're talking about a bunch of different scenarios. So yeah, could be a ramp-up for Game 1. Maybe not. We'll just have to see how the week goes." Adding a proven playoff performer like Landeskog into the mix would be a major boost for Colorado. The Swedish veteran registered 22 points (11 goals, 11 assists) in 20 postseason games during the Avalanche's triumphant Stanley Cup run in 2022.

Gabriel Landeskog Begins Conditioning Stint In AHL

Colorado Avalanche forward Gabriel Landeskog (knee) has been reassigned to the AHL's Colorado Eagles for a conditioning stint. The Eagles have five regular-season games left on their schedule, and Landeskog would be eligible to play in up to three of them as part of his assignment. A successful stint in the minors would pave the way for Landeskog to play in the NHL for the first time since 2022. Having Landeskog back for postseason action would be a major boost for the Avalanche if he could get anywhere near his best form. The Swedish veteran has been a point-per-game performer in the Stanley Cup Playoffs throughout his NHL career.

Gabriel Landeskog Not Expected To Return During The Regular Season

Colorado Avalanche left wing Gabriel Landeskog (knee) is not expected to rejoin the lineup before the end of the 2024-25 regular season. On Monday, Avalanche general manager Chris MacFarland said there is "a chance" Landeskog could return in the playoffs, but this isn't guaranteed either. Landeskog has not seen any action with the Avalanche since lifting the Stanley Cup in June 2022. Although there was optimism for his return during the 2024 offseason, it remains uncertain whether he will ever be able to resume his career. The Swedish forward turned 32 in November and will still have four more years remaining on his $56 million contract after this season.

Gabriel Landeskog Remains Without A Timeline

Colorado Avalanche forward Gabriel Landeskog (knee) remains without a timeline for his return. The Avalanche captain hasn't played since the 2022 Stanley Cup Finals. He was expected to return to action in 2024-25, but with nearly a quarter of the campaign gone, it is still unclear when Landeskog will be ready to lace up his skates again. Injuries have decimated the Avalanche attack this season, but hope is around the corner. Jonathan Drouin (upper body) and Miles Wood (upper body) each could be ready to return on Friday against Washington. At the same time, Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar has confirmed that Valeri Nichushkin (suspension) will be back in the lineup for Friday's game.

Gabriel Landeskog Expected To Return Near Start Of Season

Colorado Avalanche forward Gabriel Landeskog (knee) is expected to make his long-awaited return to action early next season. "He's trying to make a return here sometime near the start of the season and if that goes well, it would be a really big boost for us," Avalanche coach Jared Bednar said Saturday. "So, that's something we're all a little anxious about, but really excited about as well. He hasn't played for us in two years." Landeskog last saw action in the 2022 Stanley Cup Final, helping Colorado defeat the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-2. The Avalanche captain was a point-per-game player before running into health issues and should still produce at a high level once he finds his feet following the lengthy absence.

Avalanche Hope To Get Gabriel Landeskog Back For Playoffs

Colorado Avalanche left wing Gabriel Landeskog (knee) will miss the 2023-24 regular season, but the team hopes to get him back for the playoffs. "We're hoping," Avalanche general manager Chris MacFarland told The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun when asked about Landeskog possibly returning for the playoffs. "There's still so much that needs to be gleaned in this, so it's hard to put a timeline on it." The Avalanche captain has had multiple knee surgeries in recent years and already sat out the 2022-23 campaign. With Landeskog missing, Artturi Lehkonen saw a boost in playing time last season, and Jonathan Drouin could be the big beneficiary this time around as he's set to be reunited with junior teammate Nathan MacKinnon on Colorado's top line.

Gabriel Landeskog Ruled Out For Entire 2023-24 NHL Season

Colorado Avalanche left wing Gabriel Landeskog (knee) will miss the entire 2023-24 NHL season as he will undergo a cartilage transplant in his right knee on May 10, the team announced on Tuesday. It is an unfortunate situation for Landeskog, who missed the entire 2022-23 season due to a knee injury that he suffered last season on the way to the Avalanche becoming the Stanley Cup champions. Landeskog had arthroscopic knee surgery in October and was expected to miss 12 weeks at the start the campaign, but the recovery did not go as planned and he was later ruled out for the remainder of the regular season and playoffs. Landeskog has six years remaining on the eight-year, $56 million deal that he signed prior to the 2021-22 season, and the captain will be placed on long-term injured reserve to allow the Avalanche to make free agent additions this summer.

Gabriel Landeskog Ruled Out For The Playoffs

Colorado Avalanche forward Gabriel Landeskog (knee) will miss the entire 2022-23 NHL season, the team announced on Thursday. The Avalanche captain underwent arthroscopic knee surgery back in October and was initially slated to miss 12 weeks, but he sat out the whole regular season and Colorado has now announced that Landeskog won't play in the playoffs either. It's awful news for the defending champions who got 11 goals and 11 assists out of Landeskog in 20 playoff games last year.

Gabriel Landeskog May Miss The Entire Season

Colorado Avalanche forward Gabriel Landeskog (knee) has resumed skating but may not be able to return this season. Colorado head coach Jared Bednar is even worried that the Avalanche captain might not be able to play on an elite level again. Landeskog, who has yet to play in 2022-23, had two knee surgeries in seven months last year. The two procedures weren't related and Colorado hoped to have him back for the playoffs after his second surgery in October, but Landeskog remains without a timetable for his return.

Gabriel Landeskog Out For 12 Weeks After Surgery

Colorado Avalanche forward Gabriel Landeskog has undergone arthroscopic knee surgery and won't be able to play for 12 weeks. Colorado's captain has already missed the start of the season and sadly we won't be seeing him for a while now. Landeskog's injury has opened up first-line minutes for Artturi Lehkonen, who has taken full advantage of the opportunity by averaging a point per game through the first four matches of the season. He's gone pointless in the last two games, but Lehkonen did produce a team-high five shots in Wednesday's 4-3 loss to Winnipeg, and he won't be dropping out of the top six anytime soon.

Gabriel Landeskog Will Miss The Start Of The Season

Colorado Avalanche forward Gabriel Landeskog won't be available at the start of the season because of an unspecified injury. Head coach Jared Bednar has said that his captain won't skate anytime soon and the injury dates back to last season. Landeskog sat out the end of the regular season last term after undergoing knee surgery. He returned for the playoffs and appeared in all 20 games, collecting 22 points. Hopefully, this isn't anything too serious and the 2019 All-Star won't miss a lot of time. Health issues robbed Landeskog of 31 games last season, but he was still able to register his second-ever 30-goal campaign and put up 59 points in total.

Gabriel Landeskog Scores Two Power-Play Goals

Colorado Avalanche forward Gabriel Landeskog scored both of the team's goals in Monday's 6-2 loss to Tampa Bay. He opened the scoring 8:19 into the game on the power play and also lit the lamp with the man advantage early in the second. Cale Makar and Mikko Rantanen bagged the assists on both plays. The latter has already collected seven helpers against the Lightning, which marks the most ever through the first three games of a Stanley Cup Final. Landeskog has opened the series with three goals and one assist. He missed the end of the regular season following knee surgery, but the Colorado captain has fully recovered and put together a very nice playoff campaign with 11 goals and 21 points in 17 appearances.

Gabriel Landeskog Has Four-Point Outing In Game 3

Colorado Avalanche forward Gabriel Landeskog recorded a playoff career-high four points in Saturday's 7-3 victory over Nashville. He had two goals and two assists, with half of the points coming with the man advantage. Landeskog finished with six shots in total and produced three blocks and three hits as well. The Avalanche captain has started the playoffs in very good form after missing the end of the regular season with knee surgery, going for three goals and six points in three games. Colorado has scored seven goals twice in the series and Jared Bednar's team looks set to complete a sweep Monday night.
