Martin Necas Collects an Assist in Game 4 Loss to Golden Knights

Colorado Avalanche right wing Martin Necas finished Tuesday's 2-1 season-ending loss to the Vegas Golden Knights with an assist. The Avalanche once again struggled to generate offense against Vegas, but finally made a breakthrough late in the third period. Necas and Nazem Kadri set up Gabriel Landeskog for a late consolation goal. It was a strong campaign for Necas, who averaged a point per game in the playoffs after posting a career-high 100 points (38 goals, 62 assists) in 78 regular-season contests. He found a way to elevate his play, an encouraging sign for Colorado, as Necas' eight-year, $92 million contract extension will take effect next season.

Martin Necas Records Another Multi-Point Game

Colorado Avalanche right wing Martin Necas contributed two assists during the team's 4-3 comeback victory in Game 5 against the Minnesota Wild on Wednesday. He helped Nathan MacKinnon to tie the game at three with only 1:23 left in regulation and set up Brett Kulak for the series-clinching goal 3:52 into overtime. This was Necas' second consecutive two-assist game and his fourth multi-point outing in five games. Colorado's top line was sleepwalking at the start of the playoffs but made a major impact in the second-round series. Necas leads his team with 10 assists this postseason and has added one goal in nine games.

Martin Necas Has Second Straight Multi-Point Outing

Colorado Avalanche right wing Martin Necas contributed a goal and an assist in Tuesday's 5-2 victory over the Minnesota Wild, giving him back-to-back multi-point games. The Czech star opened the scoring at even strength in Game 2 of the second-round series and added a power-play assist. Despite a slow start in the playoffs, Necas is averaging more than a point per game. He's had five points in the first two contests against Minnesota, bringing his total to seven points (one goal, six assists) in six games. While Necas' goal-scoring numbers have been disappointing in the postseason, he's getting plenty of scoring chances, averaging three SOG per game. His puck luck should eventually turn around.

Martin Necas Ready for Thursday

Colorado Avalanche right wing Martin Necas (lower body) will be available for Team Czechia's Olympic opener against Canada on Thursday. Prior to the Olympic break, Necas sat out three Colorado games due to a lower-body injury. Ahead of Thursday's matchup, Necas has practiced with David Pastrnak and Tomas Hertl on the first line. Much of Czechia's tournament success hinges on the performance of its top trio. Necas has been in hot form this season, logging 62 points (22 goals, 40 assists) in 52 appearances with the Avalanche.

Martin Necas Misses Third Consecutive Game

Colorado Avalanche right wing Martin Necas (lower body) will miss Wednesday's matchup with the San Jose Sharks. He's been dealing with a lower-body injury and won't be in the lineup for a third consecutive game. Necas is still expected to play for Czechia at the 2026 Olympics. With Gabriel Landeskog (upper body) also on the shelf, Ross Colton and Victor Olofsson will continue to see top-six usage. Both players are also part of the second power-play unit. Additionally, Necas' departure from the lineup has boosted Valeri Nichushkin's fantasy stock, as he has replaced him on the first line.

Martin Necas Remains Out Monday

Colorado Avalanche right wing Martin Necas (lower body) will miss a second consecutive game on Monday against the Detroit Red Wings. He was absent from the lineup for the first time this season on Saturday against Detroit and will miss at least one more game due to a lower-body injury. The team hopes to have Necas available for Wednesday's tilt against the San Jose Sharks. With Necas out, Valeri Nichushkin moved to the top line on Saturday, recording one assist in a 5-0 win. On Monday, Nichushkin has a chance to post a season-high with a five-game point streak.

Martin Necas a Game-Time Call Tuesday

Colorado Avalanche right wing Martin Necas (illness) is a game-time call for Tuesday's contest against the Nashville Predators. He left the morning skate early due to illness. Necas has had a great time in Denver and is currently on pace for a massive 110-point campaign. In 29 outings, he has contributed 14 goals and 25 assists. Gavin Brindley (lower body) was activated from Injured Reserve on Tuesday and could be Necas' replacement in the lineup against Nashville. This is a very favorable fantasy matchup for Colorado's frontline, as the Predators allow the second-most goals in the league (3.50) and have the fifth-worst save percentage (.883).

Martin Necas Inks Eight-Year Extension With Avalanche

Colorado Avalanche forward Martin Necas has agreed to an eight-year, $92 million contract extension with the team. This marks a significant pay raise for Necas, who is currently finishing up a two-year, $13 million deal. A source told ESPN's Emily Kaplan that Necas will earn $60.4 million in signing bonuses while having a full no-trade clause in the first seven years of his new contract. Necas has just started his first full season in Denver and has shown off hot form, registering 13 points (seven goals, six assists) in 11 contests. He became a point-per-game player last season and looks set to maintain the scoring pace throughout 2025-26.

Martin Necas Nets Two Goals in Tuesday's Win

Colorado Avalanche right wing Martin Necas bagged two goals in Tuesday's season-opening 4-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings. The Czech forward opened the scoring early in the second period and potted a power-play goal in the middle of the third. Necas (13 goals and 17 assists in 31 games) matched P.A. Parenteau for the fewest games to reach 30 career points in Avalanche history. This was an impressive start to a contract year for Necas. He exceeded the 80-point mark for the first time in his career last season and is well-positioned to do it again in 2025-26 as Nathan MacKinnon's partner in crime on the top line.

Martin Necas Records Two Assists In Game 5 Loss

Colorado Avalanche forward Martin Necas collected assists on both of the team's goals during Monday's 6-2 defeat to the Dallas Stars. The Stars jumped to a 3-0 lead, and while Necas' playmaking abilities helped Colorado narrow it to a one-goal game, Jared Bednar's team was no match for the hosts on Monday night. The Avalanche are averaging three goals per game in the series, but Necas has been a disappointment so far this postseason. He has not scored with six shots on net and has three assists through five games. An improvement from the Czech forward must be imminent, as Colorado will face elimination on Wednesday night in Game 6.

Martin Necas Returns To Action Against Canucks

Colorado Avalanche forward Martin Necas (upper body) will return from a three-game absence on Thursday against the Vancouver Canucks. Colorado will get some much-needed help up front after losing several forwards to injury, including leading scorer Nathan MacKinnon (undisclosed). Necas is projected to slot into the second line next to Joel Kiviranta and Charlie Coyle, with Brock Nelson moving up to the top line to take MacKinnon's spot. Since moving to Denver, Necas has registered 11 goals and 26 points in 27 games with 80 shots on goal. The Czech forward has not had much success against the Canucks, going scoreless in five consecutive matchups.

Martin Necas Playing Through Illness

Colorado Avalanche right wing Martin Necas (illness) played through nausea during Tuesday's victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins. Necas logged just two shifts over the final 14 minutes of the contest. He logged two shots on goal and did not get on the scoresheet. Fantasy managers should continue to keep an eye on his status leading up to their next contest on Thursday evening against the San Jose Sharks as he could be in danger of missing this game. Prior to Tuesday's contest, Necas tallied eight points (three goals, five helpers) over his last six contests. Through 62 total games this season split between time in Carolina and Colorado, Necas has found the back of the net 20 times and added 48 helpers. If the 26-year-old were to sit out on Thursday, Valeri Nichushkin would likely move up to the top line.

Martin Necas Tallies Three Helpers On Wednesday

Colorado Avalanche right wing Martin Necas tallied three helpers during their 5-1 victory over the New Jersey Devils on Wednesday evening. Necas tallied the primary assist on Artturi Lehkonen's opening game in the first period. Later in the third, Necas would add two helpers on the power-play, one as a primary assist and the other as a secondary assist. He also logged two shots on goal and two hits and held a +1 rating. This outing snapped a three-game skid where Necas only tallied one point (a goal) and logged just four total shots on goal. However, before this slump, the 26-year-old tallied 10 points (3 goals, seven helpers) over his last eight. Fantasy managers should continue to expect Necas to play alongside Nathan MacKinnon on the top line, which makes him a viable play in all DFS competitions.

Martin Necas Headed To Colorado

According to Emily Kaplan of ESPN, the Carolina Hurricanes have traded right wing Martin Necas to the Colorado Avalanche in a three-team deal. The Hurricanes acquired right wing Mikko Rantanen and Taylor Hall from the Chicago Blackhawks, while the Avalanche also received center Jack Drury. The Blackhawks received a third-round pick and are retaining half of Rantanen's salary. Necas has spent his entire NHL career with the Carolina Hurricanes since making his debut during the 2017 season. In 2022, Necas tallied a career-high 71 points (28 goals, 43 assists). Through 49 contests this season, the 26-year-old has scored 16 goals and added 39 helpers with 22 of his points coming on the power-play. Fantasy managers should expect Necas to play alongside Nathan MacKinnon on the top unit and Drury to slide into the bottom-6.

Martin Necas Keeps Scoring Streak Going With Four-Point Effort

Carolina Hurricanes forward Martin Necas stretched his point streak to 13 games with a big four-point effort in Sunday's 4-1 win against St. Louis. He tallied two goals and two assists, picking up one power-play point. This was already the second four-point game of the season for Necas, who has amassed 10 goals and 17 assists during his scoring streak. He has recorded 11 goals and 19 assists in 17 games overall this season, becoming the fastest player in franchise history to register 30 points in a season. It's been an incredible run from Necas, and it might last a while, as Carolina's hot offense will be pitted against some struggling defenses this week.

The Czech forward has been on fire lately, amassing four goals and 12 points across the past five games. Martin Necas Tallies Goal, Assist In Friday's Victory

Carolina Hurricanes forward Martin Necas scored his first goal of the season with an additional assist in their victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday evening. Necas scored the eventual game-winner in the second frame on the power-play, beating goaltender Joel Blomqvist. Later in the period, Necas tallied his second point, once again on the power-play on an assist on Shayne Gostisbehere's slapshot goal. Necas now has three points through the first three games of the campaign and looks on pace to have another successful season after tallying 24 goals and 29 assists last season. Fantasy managers should continue to expect Necas to play on Carolina's second line but see time on the top power-play unit.

Martin Necas Re-Ups With Hurricanes For Two Years

Carolina Hurricanes forward Martin Necas has agreed to a two-year, $13 million deal with the team. Necas was a restricted free agent and has been linked with a move elsewhere, but the Hurricanes eventually managed to get him under a new contract. After leading the team in scoring during the 2022-23 campaign, Necas took a step back last season but still managed a respectable 53 points (24 goals, 29 assists) across 77 outings. He boasts 97 goals and 243 points in 362 career games. The Czech forward has been a good fit in Raleigh and, at 25 years of age, is still far from a finished article.
